My Mommy Is A CEO

Chapter 35 Occurring Internal Contradictions

Calling Jacob “Mr. Taylor” was as respectful as Eduard could show him.

Jacob didn’t like being blocked. He glanced at Arthur and Lucia, who was approaching the entrance, and then turned to Eduard with a sneer.

“Mr. Burton, don’t you think you’re being a little unrequited?”

“I am amorous, but I never flatter myself.” Eduard smiled indifferently, blocking Jacob.

“She already has an escort, and you still get involved. Isn’t it unrequited love?” Of course, Jacob could see that Eduard’s protection of Lucia was more than a normal superior’s care for his subordinates, so he took this as a satire.

“Whether I’m unrequited or not is hard to say, but you, Jacob, will never get Lucia again in this life!”

Eduard fired back. Who was he? He was a libertine who had been fooling around for many years. How could he not see Jacob’s possessive desire for Lucia even though Lucia did not belong to him now?

Eduard glanced at him, knowing that he had been defeated, and turned away without hesitation. If it wasn’t for Lucia, he wouldn’t even bother talking to him!

In the corner, with the main characters gone, Jacob stood there like a clown, not knowing what to think.

Arthur, on the other hand, said goodbye to the host and got Lucia’s coat. He wrapped her tightly in a thick coat before taking her to the parking lot. Lucia was silent all the way, and Arthur would have thought she didn’t care if it hadn’t been for an obscure glint in her eyes.

After getting into the car, Arthur opened the passenger door for Lucia for the first time and let her sit beside him.

Before Lucia could ask why, Arthur spoke up himself, “I need to watch you.”

Hearing that, Lucia smiled. Why would he watch her? Was he worried that she might do something stupid?

“I know you’re strong, but you don’t have to pretend to be strong in front of me.” Arthur looked at the curved corners of Lucia’s mouth and said faintly, but his hand gently held her wrist which had just been strangled, and rubbed it consolingly, as if to wipe away the red marks.

“I’m not pretending. I just can’t figure out why Jacob is haunting me. Five years ago he had done all he could to satirize me. Five years later, I haven’t done anything yet, so why should he break the game by dwelling on the past?” Lucia murmured in confusion, wondering why Jacob would do that.

The only reason she solved the CTD case last time was because she knew Poppy was paranoid and jealous. Jacob was also afraid of that, and yet he was haunting her tonight. If words got back to Poppy, wouldn’t he be afraid of occurring internal contradictions?”

“Can’t you figure that out?” Arthur suddenly smiled and whispered to Lucia.

Lucia, seeing Arthur looked like he knew something, was even more confused. So she asked, “Do you know why?”

Arthur nodded, but, without further comment, started the engine and drove away. Of course he knew why, he just didn’t feel the need to say it. He was not afraid that Lucia would know that Jacob still had feelings and plans for her. He just didn’t want to annoy her.

Lucia might ask a few questions if the other person stopped talking here, but since the other person was Arthur, he must have his own reasons, so Lucia did not ask anymore. Besides, she was also tired.

It was past ten o’clock at night when they got home, and the lights were not on. Arthur called Sophie right away without Lucia asking first. After talking to Sophie, Arthur found out that tomorrow was Saturday. So Sophie took Theodore to East Sea and wouldn’t be back until Sunday night.

When he told Lucia what was going on, Arthur added, “You can rest assured that my mother will take care of Theodore.”

“I know.” Lucia smiled at Arthur and was naturally relieved to leave the child with Sophie.

Inside the door, the cold winter air was still hovering inside. Arthur stopped Lucia from taking off her coat. He turned on the air conditioner first, and then asked her to take off her coat when the room temperature rose.

“I’m not a child.” Lucia liked Arthur’s subtle and extreme care, but she also wanted to make fun of him mischievously.

“A woman should be like a child around a man,” Arthur replied carelessly, and this remark was naturally given by Sophie.

“Oh, tell me.” Lucia sat down on the sofa and smiled at Arthur. It was always nice to chat with him, and Lucia didn’t want to focus on anything else.

“My mom says it’s hard to be a woman in the modern world. They have kids and work, and the only time they can relax is when they’re around their men. If you can’t be free and loved like a little child around your man, it’s sad.” Arthur almost copied Sophie’s words.

After listening to Arthur’s words, Lucia could almost imagine how Sophie taught her sons. An assertive woman like her would naturally teach her son the skills and basics of how to protect a woman, except that, according to Arthur, he seemed to think of himself as her man…

Lucia blushed a little and muttered, “So, are you my man?”

“Am I not?” Arthur said, raising his eyebrows. He was the real Lucia’s man, for now, of course. On the physical level, there was no disputing the fact that they had no one else but each other.

“How come?” Lucia asked Arthur deliberately. She wanted to know how he would put it. She didn’t agree to the relationship, did she? Besides, Arthur didn’t say anything.

“We’re the first one to each other, and our child is four years old. What more should we say?” Arthur said firmly with a frown.

“But you didn’t explicitly say…” Lucia’s words choked in her throat. But although she didn’t finish the sentence, Arthur could see in her flushed cheeks what she was trying to say.

“Well…” Sitting next to Lucia, Arthur stroked his chin and mused.

Lucia said as Arthur really began to think, “Forget it. I didn’t mean to bring it up.”

“No, it was an oversight on my part.” Arthur turned to Lucia and seriously began to admit his mistake. “I’m the one who left out this step, and if it’s not too late…” Arthur looked around the room as he spoke. Lucia was wondering what he was doing when he got up and walked into the dining room to get something from the closet before returning.

Lucia looked at the lilium Arthur had taken from the vase on the dining room cupboard and was stunned.

Lucia’s hair stood on end as Arthur approached her with the flower in a solemn gesture. What was this guy doing?NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.

Before Lucia could react, Arthur came to the sofa and dropped to one knee, which made Lucia curl up on the sofa like a frightened rabbit.
