My Mommy Is A CEO

Chapter 31 The Outstanding Woman

Lucia frowned slightly this time.

Asking her to be his date?

“If you don’t want to go, I’ll try to refuse for you.” When she saw that Lucia seemed reluctant, Nia said she was willing to lie for her.

“I’ll go with him. Why not?” Lucia’s answer surprised Nia. She continued to say, “I have just returned and my social circle is still very small. This is the perfect time to expand my network. As an executive, I can’t be so set in the ways that I don’t know who my competitors are or who my partners are.”

“But…” Nia frowned. She knew Lucia was right. But it was Eduard! While he was in Paris on a business trip, there were reports of him having an affair with a foreign socialite.

“No but. Besides, do you think I have a chance to say no?” Lucia gave a smile mixed with resignation.

Lucia guessed that Eduard couldn’t have been invited to the party in the last half hour. But he could have told her to her face when she went up there. He was asking Nia to convey it directly to her now so that Lucia didn’t have a chance to say no. Nia’s excuses now would only increase the tension between superiors and subordinates.

After hearing Lucia’s analysis, Nia sighed and told Lucia, “Then you should be careful.”

After work in the afternoon, Lucia came out of the company door, and sure enough, she saw Arthur standing beside his car waiting for her.

When Lucia saw Arthur standing in the cold waiting for her, her expression turned serious and she hurried over to him and scolded him, “The wind is so cold. Why don’t you wait in the car?”

With a frown, Lucia pulled out her hand and opened the backseat door.

Arthur looked at Lucia with a smile and got into the car. When he got into the car, he flirted with Lucia and she began to talk to him. But Lucia soon discovered that they were not going home.

“I’ll take you for a fitting,” Arthur said as he drove.

“Fitting?” Lucia asked blankly.

“Isn’t tonight TalentScoop Company’s Mr. Kaur’s 60th birthday party? You just got back. You don’t have a dress for the party, do you? Let’s go buy one now.” Arthur finally brought up the birthday party.

Lucia thought to herself that yes, if Eduard was invited, Arthur must be on the list. But she had promised to accompany Eduard…

Lucia was in a dilemma. Did she have to start by saying, “I’m sorry, but I can’t be there with you?”

Lucia’s sudden silence made Arthur feel strange. He tilted his head slightly and asked Lucia as he watched the road, “What, aren’t you going with Eduard tonight?”

Arthur’s words made Lucia’s dilemma disappear. She did not expect Arthur to know that he was going to be Eduard’s date, so she immediately asked.

“How did you know I was going with him?”

“Eduard was known as a playboy in the circle, and anyone who accompanied him would be the talk of the circle. I didn’t think it was you this time. I guess he ordered you to enforce it as your boss.” Arthur said his guess calmly.

Had to say, Arthur was very perceptive. His guess was absolutely right. Lucia listened to his flat tone of analysis, she was suddenly a little uncomfortable in her heart. Well, very uncomfortable…

Then, after a moment’s silence, Lucia asked in a muffled voice, “Aren’t you jealous?”

Lucia wanted to be sensible enough not to ask such a question, but Arthur himself was going to the party. He just confessed his love to her last night. At this time, shouldn’t he be capricious and ask her to give up Eduard and accompany him instead? Why was Arthur so generous?

Lucia thought that her cheeky question would provoke Arthur’s “scoundrel” teasing. After all, this kind of remark could be classified as a conflict between lovers. But she did not expect him to reply quickly.

“No, I am.”

Lucia didn’t know it herself, but her eyes lit up as she heard the answer. But Arthur’s short answer tickled her, and she asked.

“Then why don’t you talk me out of it, or go with you instead?”

Arthur drove the car carefully. His voice flowed slowly into Lucia’s ears with the air inside the car. He said.

“Of course I want to do that, but as the manager of Jibillion Inc, it is your responsibility to socialize reasonably, not to mention that it’s the order from your immediate boss Eduard. I can’t just lock you up and interfere in everything you do for selfish reasons. You have your own circle and your own personal life, and I won’t interfere. I can deal with my jealousy. Eduard can’t beat me anyway.”

Lucia laughed because Arthur’s last sentence seemed to be the most important.

However, Lucia felt very warm to be understood and even supported in this way. Then, wanting to amuse Arthur, she said.

“But you can’t be so generous as to take me to a fitting yourself, and then have me escort other men to a party.”Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

Lucia’s words seemed to strike a nerve in Arthur. As soon as Lucia had finished speaking, Arthur suddenly pulled the car over to the side of the road and turned to stare at Lucia.

Lucia was feeling pins and needles on her scalp when Arthur’s cold voice came to her, “Of course, I can’t be so generous! I’m just gonna pick out the best clothes for you, put the best makeup on you, and then I’m gonna have you go with Eduard. I’m going to make it clear to that boy that the outstanding woman standing next to him doesn’t belong to him!”

Arthur unreservedly showed his selfishness in front of Lucia. Lucia was stunned when she heard it, then a smile slowly appeared on her face. That was what this guy had in mind. He was so petty!

Lucia, like a cat who had succeeded in stealing food, scooped up her fluffy coat collar and buried her smiling face inside. Happiness poured out of her eyes like warm water.

Arthur had always been rational, but when he saw Lucia, who could not hide her happiness and was huddled in the back seat like a cat, he really had the impulse to grab her and kiss her hard, even if it would scare Lucia, who was still hesitant about their relationship.

Unfortunately, the two of them are not in the right position. Arthur grunted, turned sullenly to start the engine, and drove back out onto the road.

Even without the air conditioner, the air in the car seemed warm, even slightly scorching. Lucia thought, blushing in her fluffy fur collar.

At exactly eight o’clock in the evening, Eduard was waiting for Lucia downstairs in his car. After receiving the call, Lucia took the coat from Arthur, put it on, kissed Theodore, and went downstairs.

At home, Arthur, Theodore, and Sophie watched Lucia walk into the elevator, looking at each other.

“Uncle Arthur, can I ask you how you feel right now?” After the door was closed by Arthur, Theodore suddenly asked him mischievously, imitating the tone of the TV reporter.
