Chapter 1157 Doubts Arise
Nia had collapsed on the couch and was still trembling with fear. Kevin didn’t hold anything back and gave a preliminary statement to the police. Shortly after, an ambulance arrived and chaos ensued in the small villa. Meanwhile, Casper was fuming with rage.
“What did you say?! The police showed up and saved them?!” Casper hadn’t even made it inside his home yet before he started yelling into his phone, causing all of the voice-activated lights in the building to turn on.
“Mr. Wood, I don’t know why the police suddenly appeared. Nia and Kevin got lucky this time around but Leon and his crew are nowhere to be found…” Sage answered anxiously.
“You guys… go find Leon right now! Don’t let him get caught!” Casper’s teeth were chattering from anger.
“Mr. Wood, I saw backup arrive for the police earlier so they’re probably searching nearby by now. If we go out looking for them, we might…”
“That’s enough! I understand! You guys come back here immediately while I personally contact Leon.” With no other options left, Casper hung up his phone then opened his front door.
As soon as he turned on all of the lights in his apartment, he threw off his coat onto the couch then tried contacting Leon again only to find that it went straight to voicemail along with every other member. He tried calling afterwards which sent shivers down his spine. Had they been caught? He couldn’t risk making any more calls just in case someone traced it back to him…
Casper sat down heavily onto his couch, feeling helpless as he considered what could happen next. Never once did he think that law enforcement would intervene like this because once they did, there was no going back. If Leon’s team got caught without even laying a finger on Nia or Kevin, then everything will have been for nothing!
In an empty apartment filled with uncertainty, Casper couldn’t sit still as thoughts raced through mind about what tomorrow would bring…
After two hours of busy investigation, the police finally concluded their work. Other officers who had been searching for the culprits in the vicinity also returned with no results. Kevin, seeing that they had found nothing, decided it was time to wrap up. He quickly spoke up,
“Officers… you can’t leave us alone here especially if those criminals come back.”
“This location is remote so my suggestion is for you all return downtown. We’ll assign officers temporarily to protect your safety but you must cooperate.”
“We’ll! We’ll!” Nia, who had already calmed down, quickly stood up and said anxiously, “Kevin, we have to go back to the city now. We can’t stay here anymore!”NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
Who knew where Leon and his men were lurking? Were they waiting for their chance to take their lives?!
“Alright then, let’s go back immediately.” Kevin thought the same thing.
Meanwhile, a black jeep was driving continuously in the suburbs. The driver was a stranger and Leon and several of his brothers sat nervously in the back seat. They wanted to ask where they were going but didn’t know how.
In the darkness, only the road ahead was illuminated by headlights while everything else around them remained unclear. Leon didn’t know where they were headed but Sage promised that it would be absolutely safe.
Finally unable to hold it in any longer, Leon tapped on the driver’s seat and asked, “Where are you taking us?”
The driver didn’t answer but focused on driving.
Leon bit his lip as he felt something wasn’t right but trusted that Sage wouldn’t harm him. He could only suppress his unease and anxiously waiting for their destination.
After what seemed like an eternity of driving with Leon almost dozing off several times, finally they slowed down as they approached a tall square building within range of their headlights. Something flashed through his mind but he couldn’t quite grasp it yet.
The car eventually stopped in front of this building which had its gate slowly rising up after a phone call from the driver’s phone. The bright lights shone out illuminating everything around them, clearly revealing Arthur’s private hangar!
How could this be?!
This was Arthur’s place!
Realizing this fact made Leon push past his brothers frantically trying open doors while getting out of car. But he found himself surrounded by ten or so men dressed sharply all over inside Arthur’s hangar!
“You’ll rest here tonight. Sage will come tomorrow,” said one man coldly as if giving orders without any room for argument, making Leon feel like someone hit him hard on top of head causing headache instantly.
…..
Leon really felt like there were things beyond understanding. What happened between Sage and Arthur that went way over his head leaving him feeling completely lost at sea!
The leader of the group ordered his two subordinates to take them to rest. Seeing Leon standing there in a daze, the others didn’t dare move either. The leader chuckled and said, “What’s wrong? Not tired? Or is the police station more comfortable?”
Upon hearing this, Leon instinctively shook his head. Seeing a hint of mockery on the man’s face, he lowered his head sullenly and signaled to his brothers before following the two men away. He didn’t care anymore. Since Sage would come tomorrow anyway, he would wait until then to ask what was going on tonight.
Following the two men into a spacious resting room with only two beds but which they deemed sufficient enough after entering it with Leon and closing the door behind them.
As soon as they were alone in their room, one of Leon’s brothers immediately asked him, “Leon, what’s going on here?” Fear was evident on their faces. Anyone would feel uneasy being suddenly taken to an unfamiliar place.
Seeing that everyone was relying on him for answers, Leon felt a sense of responsibility rise within him as he reassured them, “Didn’t we already agree with Sage? We’ll follow his arrangements and everything will be clear when he comes tomorrow.”
“But where did Sage get all these people from?” One of his brothers asked doubtfully, not knowing that this place belonged to Arthur. “Can we really trust Sage?”
This question also troubled Leon now but he replied firmly, “Yes we can! If we don’t trust him by now, then we would have been silenced already! Let’s just rest up for now and stop thinking too much about it.”
Hearing that even Leon had spoken so confidently about trusting Sage made everyone suppress their inner anxieties as they found places to rest. They gave up the beds for both Leon and another older brother. However, Leon stayed awake all night while everyone else slept soundly.
The next morning someone brought breakfast over early. When others began eating separately from each other at different times during breakfast time, Leon asked one of those delivering food, “When will Sage come?”
