Chapter 268
Chapter 268
Celena put down the contract in her hands and looked at Liam in confusion. With a frown, she asked, "What do you mean?"
Liam sighed and took the contract from Celena. He scanned through and said indifferently, "I've read through the contract and there's no problem with it. But I feel the problem is with Qemal. Think about it, Qemal is narrow-minded and greedy. Do you think a person like him would just sit idly by and let people take advantage of him?"
Celena's eyebrows were even more tightly furrowed upon hearing that. She immediately interjected Liam, stood up, and said unhappily, "I know what you want to say, but Qemal is my only brother after all. Now that I know this, I can't just leave him be. And I won't stand by and allow it if Grandpa were to banish him from the family because of this!" Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
She then turned to Liam and said seriously, "Besides, if anything were to happen to me in the future, he would be the person who could help me since he is my only brother."
Liam understood that Celena was kind-hearted and could not let the Stone family go. However, he could only laugh at the fact that Celena said she would have to depend on Qemal's help in the future.
It would already be a blessing if the Stones did not kick her when she was down. If anything were to happen to Celena, Qemal would stay as far away from her as he could. He would then come back to make things worse for her.
Liam looked at Celena's conflicted look and said while shaking his head helplessly, "Forget it. Just leave this matter to me."
"Leave it to you?"
Celena looked at Liam with a puzzled expression because the matters would be resolved every time Liam said that. But what Celena could not wrap her head around was the fact that Liam was nothing more than a retired soldier. How was it that he could settle anything that she could not?
Also, there was more than once where she felt that Liam was involved behind the scenes, even though it looked like he did not step in and it had nothing to do with him. She just could not find any proof for it.
She tried to test Liam because of the inkling she had. However, Liam was not willing to tell her anything, which left her with great disappointment.
"Yes, leave it to me. I know some friends here in the city. I can ask them about this for you," Liam said with a smile.
Celena was still a little torn and looked hesitant. Ever since their last fight, she decided to not trouble Liam too much. However, her project was slowly going on the right track at the moment, so she had plenty of things to take care of. She indeed did not have the extra time to deal with this.
Liam could see that she was hesitant, so he said, "Just let me do it. Don't you still have a lot of things to deal with at work?"
Celena nodded helplessly. She had no choice but to leave it to Liam. However, she reminded him, "Alright, then I'll let you deal with it. But if it's really hard to resolve it, you must first let me know about it."
Celena finally relented which made Liam chuckle. A gentle smile hung on his handsome face as he looked affectionately at Celena. He wanted to pinch her cheeks, but Celena backed away as she felt shy.
The love in his eyes was so apparent which made Celena blush. She let out a cough and changed the topic on purpose.
"I-I'll go check on Jovie."
She then ran toward the bedroom in a panic and quickly closed the door before leaning her back against it. Her face was completely flushed, her chest heaved as she panted, and her beautiful eyes were twinkling.
