Chapter Twenty Five

It takes a couple of minutes to peel open my tired eyes, I smack my lips together in response to feel

how dried out my mouth is. My gaze rakes over the room until it falls on Malakai who sits at the end of

the bed, leaning against the bed post with a book in his hand. As if sensing my eyes on him, he looks

up, a small relieved smile graces his face. • How are you feeling? " • Thirsty. " I croak, slowly moving

myself to sit against the headboard. Kai leans down, pulling a bottle of water from off the floor beside

the bed. He moves closer to me while unscrewing the plastic lid, when he's close enough he brings the

bottle to my lips. I take a mouthful as I take the bottle into my own hands. Gulping down half of the

water, I remove it from my mouth, gasping for air. • What happened with Maria? Are those humans

okay? What about Dahlia and her mate?" I list off question after question. Kai smiles at me again,

putting the lid on the bottle and placing it back on the ground. " Maria was punished and banished from

my land, along with her entire clan. If any of them come back, they'll be killed on sight. As for the

humans, they were made forget about all of this, including the existence of supernaturals, given a cover

story for their disappearances and returned to their homes. Dahlia and her mate are fine, Lila is still

settling in, she's been tortured by our kind for months and well. .. She's not exactly at ease with us yet.

" He answers. "I missed a good bit then. How long was I out? 11 I ask. • Two days. 11 He informs,

standing up from the bed and holding his hand out to me. 11 Come let's get you something to eat. 11

With weak legs, I climb out of bed, grasping onto Kai for support as we walk through the house until we

reach the kitchen. He sits me down at the large black marble island, then moves around the dark

designed kitchen in silence until he places a bowl of pasta with tomato sauce and basil in front of me.

He leans against the island, his eyes never leaving me as I eat. • You know, it's a bit awkward trying to

you mean? " I take another fork full of pasta while waiting for his answer. He clears his throat, netting

his fingers together on his lap. " After the way I acted, I was unsure if you would have forgiven me. •

Sighing, I place my fork Into the bowl, turning my body to face his. • Malakai, you ended up doing the

right thing, you apologised and made things right. As long as you're trying, I am too. We are fated as

you said. You are mine and I am yours." His blue eyes gaze into mine, my body melts as the feeling

warmth, safety and admiration course through me. He slides off of his stool, moving closer to me. when

close enough he spins the stool around, caging me in with his arms as he captures my lips with his. My

lips follow his movements as I slide my hands around his neck, lacing my fingers into his long soft hair.

One of his hands presses against my lower back, pulling me forward. Spreading my legs, I allow him to

step in between them and press his body against mine. A light gasp escapes my lips as his tangles his

other hand in my hair, tugging It softly, he takes this opportunity to slide his tongue into my mouth. We

battle for control for a few minutes then he pulls away, laying his forehead against mine. Both of our

breathing has increased, we stay with our eyes closed, holding onto each other trying to regulate it. Kai

moves his hand from my hair to my cheek, brushing his thumb against my face softly when he pulls

away to look at me. • I shouldn't have reacted the way I did to finding out about you. I allowed things

with Maria to happen, that I shouldn't have and yet you're so quick to forgive me, why? " " I've acted in

one that has settled on Kai's lips. Clearing my throat I walk over to Dahlia. • Why don't you guys give us
