My Hunted Mate

Chapter Fourty Six

Chapter Fourty Six

Corinna

Kai sits at his desk, scribbling things with his pen whole he talks on the phone, I barely register his

voice as I chant softly from the office floor, where I sit surrounded by mountains of jewellery belonging

to the members of the clan.

To keep things organised, each item has a small tag attached to it with the owners name on it. As the

flames fade in the bowl in front of me, I pick out the ring inside and place it into a tub filled to the brim

with already spelled jewellery.

" You need anything my darling? Food, water? Rest? Help? " Kai speaks, after placing the phone back

down.

" Well if you could get someone to collect those tubs and give people back their belongings that would

be great. " I tell him, gesturing to the three tubs I've filled with protection talismans.

He nods, dialling a number into the phone while I continue what I was doing. Over the last week, this is

what our days have looked like. Kai handles any business to do with the clan, while I sit making

protection talismans.

After the first day, we realised it was too messy for me to do all of this in the bedroom and we both

couldn't focus being away from each other for that many hours. So I moved to his office so we could be

in each other's company while we did what we have to do.

" Oh my darling, we're going to have that family feast after all. " Kai informs me after he asks someone

to report to his office.

" What? Why? Everyone already knows I'm pregnant. " I pout, looking down at my bump that keeps

getting bigger every week. Supernatural pregnancies tend to go much quicker than a human

pregnancy, we only end up being pregnant for six months instead of nine.

" Think of it as a celebratory dinner for the baby than an announcement dinner. " He smiles, moving

away from his desk to sit in front of me on the floor.

" So it's like a baby shower dinner thingy? " I mumble, awkwardly picking myself off of the floor to lay

across the sofa.

Kai picks up my legs, setting himself down on the sofa before allowing me to throw my feet onto his lap

as his places a hand on my stomach, rubbing my bump affectionately. " Yeah, a baby shower dinner

thing, I'll tell people to bring gifts, we can get dressed up and have a nice dinner. "

" Dressed up? " I question with a scowl, eyeing the light grey sweat pants that belonged to him,

covering my bottom half. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

" You don't have anything to wear, do you? " he asks, noticing my gaze.

My eyes start to tear up without my contest. " Nothing fits me anymore. " I sniffle.

" It's okay baby, I'll get someone to bring you shopping for maternity clothes. " He whispers, brining my

hand up to his lips.

" Thanks, my love. " I breathe.

" What was that? " He grins, wrapping his arms around me.

A deep blush settles on my face. " nothing. " I mumble, unsure of where the pet name came from.

" I like it, my love. " He leans over pecking my lips.

Before he can move away, I wrap my hands around his neck, pulling him back to me. My lips move with

his slowly, I let out a sigh of pleasure at the feeling of him being so close, how he smells, how he

tastes.

He opens his mouth slightly and I dip my tongue in to meet his, just as we begin to get lost in each

other, a sharp knock on the door parts us, causing me to let out a huff. " Later. " He promises in a

whisper against my lips, pecking them once again.

" I love you. " I tell him, rubbing my nose against his.

" I love you too, my darling. " He pulls away from me, lifting my legs so he can stand, as he walks over

to the door, he bends over to press a quick peck to the top of my nose then goes to open the door.

Olive and Darius stand in the door way, only entering the office when they are given permission to do

so. Darius grabs two out of the three tubs, exiting the room straight after, Olive on the other hand only

gets to the door before my mate calls for her.

" Why don't you bring Cori to get some maternity clothes later today? " He speaks.

Olive nods, sending me a smile. " I'd love to, what time do you think you'll be ready to go? "

I glance down at the piles of jewellery with a sigh. " I think I've done enough for today, I'll go get my

shoes and we can go? " I suggest.

" Sure, I'll drop these into the auditorium and then I'll meet you in the car. " She tells me, then leaves

the room.

Once I've tidied up the office a little bit, I leave the office and head into my bedroom, after sliding on a

pair of ankle socks, I slip my feet into a pair of white trainers and then go into Kai's room in search of

one of his hoodies, knowing I'll be too cold in just a white camisole.

A smile crosses my face when I find his light blue throw over hoodie that's extra baggy on me, after

lazily brushing my hair, I end up getting hit with a wave of nausea and running for the bathroom.

While I'm in the middle of throwing up the contents of my lunch, Kai enters the room, kneeling beside

me to rub my back, in an attempt to comfort me. " If you feel too unwell, you can always go shopping

tomorrow, I could take you then because I won't be as busy. "

" No, no, it's alright. I can go. " I tell him, spitting into the toilet a little.

He nods, handing me some tissue to wipe my mouth, after flushing the toilet, I give my teeth a quick

brush. Kai leads me out of the house and into the front garden where Olive is already waiting in the car,

as promised, she has her phone to her ear but when her eyes land on us, she hangs up.

Kai opens my door for me, waiting until I've settled into my seat and clipped my seat belt to give me a

short goodbye and a quick kiss. He stands at the front door with his hands stuffed into the pockets of

his slacks, until we drive out past the gate.

Olive is unusually quiet as we drive onto the main road, which is empty except two cars that are driving

in the direction that we just came. Turning to ask olive something, I pause when I notice a familiar

looking bracelet on her wrist.

" I thought you lost that. " I speak, pointing at the black rope bracelet with a small charm hanging from

it.

" I, uh, I did but I found it. " Her eyes dart from me, to the bracelet, then back to me and then to rest on

the road.

Suddenly something feels very wrong. I think back to a couple of days ago when I handed her a newly

enchanted ring to replace the bracelet on her wrist.

" What happened to the other one I made for you then? " I ask, watching her carefully, wishing I had

taken Kai up on his offer to buy me a phone a couple of weeks back, so I could tell him my suspicions.

Olive opens and closes her mouth, then turns to me with a hateful glare. " You ruined everything. " she

hisses.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see a truck speeding down the other side of the road, at the last second it

swerves and hits into the car with such force, that it flips and continues to do so. A scream escapes my

lips as I wrap my arms around my bump protectively, my head violently bounces off the car window and

everything turns black.
