Chapter 24 Memories of the past
It was on a rainy night, 15th of June and the rain poured profusely from the sky.
Niguel had attended the birthday of the youngest daughter of the Williams’s which was being held at the Miller’s residence, the Williams’s household mansion.
Being forced by his mother to attend the party in search of a bride, Niguel hadn’t spent much time in the gathering.
He had stayed for awhile, before leaving the party and went to the balcony where attention was not on him, to feel the cool breeze across his face. He stood there for awhile enjoying the cool evening breeze and also the music the rain made as it fell.
Not up to ten minutes of him being there, he heard some movements behind him and slowly turning back, his eyes came in contact with the celebrant. The beautiful Jenna Williams.
She was dressed in a royal blue gown which swept the floor as she walked and it hung tightly to her body, revealing her perfect curves in the right places.
Her long silky black hair was styled in simple braids and her face adorned with very little makeup.
She was full of smiles as she walked up to him and Niguel didn’t fail to notice her feet which were barefooted.
Seeing her holding her beautiful silver heels in her hands, Niguel couldn’t help but to chuckle.
“Good evening sir Niguel.” She greeted, beaming with smiles as she came to stood beside him, leaving a handful of distance between them.
“Good evening Miss Jenna and Happy birthday.” He wished and the smile on her face widened.
“Thank you sir Niguel, it’s a pleasure having you here.” She appreciated.
“And why is the celebrant walking barefooted without her shoes?” Niguel asked and Jenna cheeks turned red.
“I… I wasn’t comfortable in them so I decided to pull it off for awhile.” She replied, blinking her eye lashes in embarrassment and he chuckled, making her further embarrassed.
When she had left her party, she hasn’t expected to meet the CEO of the most biggest company in the balcony.
All she wanted to do was to pull off the damn heels which she wasn’t comfortable walking in and to enjoy the evening breeze, but who knew she would have met him here?
Jenna knew her father was an influential individual in the society but having the CEO of Cloudrevel company attend her birthday party? She was beyond marvelled.
She had caught a glimpse of him when he had arrived, drawing the whole attention on him but that was for awhile, before he suddenly vanished.
“I… I didn’t expect to meet you here, to meet anyone here.” She slowly muttered, her velvety voice sounding melodious to his ears.
“Hmmmm.” Niguel hummed, taking a sip from the wine in the glass cup which was in his hands.
They stayed there for awhile, in silence, enjoying the cool evening breeze and the soft music which was being played inside when she finally broke the silence.
“I’ll be on my way now sir Niguel.” She announced, bending down to wear her heals again.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Miss Jenna.” Niguel uttered an she smiled.
Her beautiful smile lighting up the dark.
“It’s my honor sir Niguel, thanks for attending once again.” She appreciated, bowing a little before excusing herself.
Niguel watched her struggle to take two steps in her heels before she lost her balance on the floor and she staggered, falling on the floor which he caught her right in time before she could touch the floor.
“I’m so sorry sir Niguel.” Jenna apologized, leaving his arms and balanced herself on the floor one more time.
“It’s no big deal.” He replied and she nodded.
“I’ll be going now.” She announced for the second time and started walking towards where she came from.
She became so careful with her heels, taking one step at a time and Niguel chuckled, watching her walk so slow towards the exit.
He continued watching her until she disappeared from his presence and he sighed, turning his head back to the front, her smiles lingered in his mind.
She really was beautiful.
.
.
Unaware to Niguel and Jenna, in the shadows was a figure, watching what inspired between them the whole time and she fumed in anger.
“That bitch.” She cursed in whispers.
Mia angrily left her hiding spot, running after Jenna who was walking extremely slow thanks to her heels.
“Jenn!” She yelled and Jenna legs came to a halt.
“Mia.” Jenna called, turning to see her older step sister, she let out a smile which in turn only irritated Mia the more.
She always charmed people with her smiles.
“Why did you throw yourself at sir Niguel?” She inquired and Jenna brows furrowed in confusion.
“I don’t understand what you’re talking about Mia.” She muttered and Mia rolled her eyes.
“Stop feigning ignorance Jenna, I saw what you did, throwing yourself at sir Niguel, is that how cheap you are?” Mia asked.
“I didn’t throw myself at anyone Mia, he caught me when I was about falling.” Jenna explained and that only seemed to annoyed Mia.
“Oh please shut up Jenna, just shut up!” She ordered, raising her voice.
The thought of Sir Niguel not attending her extravagant birthday party only to attended Jenna’s small birthday party annoyed her to the bones.
“I thought you were different but who am I kidding? You’re just like your mother, inheriting her genes, afterall she was a mistress.” Mia blew hot and Jenna clenched and unclenched her fists beside her.
“What was I expecting from the daughter of a mistress anyways?” Mia mocked, rubbing the fact that Jenna was just a mistress daughter on her face.
“Now listen to me and listen very good Jenna, if you ever play the trick you pull today any other time, throwing yourself at sir Niguel, trust me you’re going to have yourself to blame.” She warned, giving Jenna a deadly glare before walking away.
Jenna stood there, staring at the disappearing figure of Mia and tears rolled down her cheeks.
“What was I expecting from the daughter of a mistress?”
Mia hurtful words replayed in her head and more tears streamed down her face.
Being the daughter of Mr Williams wasn’t as easy as everyone thought, as she was an illegitimate child.
She was the result of her father’s adultery with her mother, his mistress who died few years back and the fact that she was always reminded of her status as the mistress’s daughter hurt the hell out of her.
Her step mother and sister treated her like trash and her step brother had tried to molest her once which she was lucky to have escaped.
The only person who treated her like someone was her father, Mr Williams.
He loved her dearly and didn’t bother to hid it, showering her with lots of gifts and attention thus, angering his wife and his daughter and they maltreated her the more.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Wiping her tears, Jenna let out a smile, lifting her gown up and she made her way into the room. Today was her day afterall, she wasn’t going to let anything get in the way of her happiness, just for today.
