Chapter 49 The Evidence
Eva took a big step into the house, looked around, and smiled at Simon, “I guess you know why I’m here, right?”
“Miss Sommers, I really don’t know what you want to do here in my slum? “ Simon saw that Eva didn’t say anything, and kept beating around the bush.
“It seems that Mr. Brew is really forgetful, do you need me to help you recall.” She said as she took out the gun at her waist and aimed it at Simon’s head.
Simon abruptly changed his expression, but stabilized his mind, thinking that Eva would have a real gun, it was fake, just to scare him.
“Pfft!” Simon burst out laughing, “Miss Sommers, did you play in too many spy films, who are you trying to scare?!”
With a crash, the water bottle on the table was instantly shattered.
If this shot was fired at Simon, his brain would shatter like the water bottle.
Originally when she was returning to the country, Eva felt that she could completely bid farewell to her past life, but a friend gave her a small silenced rifle, saying it was just in case, it could also be used as self-defense. Eva didn’t want to disappoint her, so she brought it back. It’s been at home, and she went back to her apartment today to get it, but it turned out to be a good use for it.
Simon didn’t realize Eva was holding a real gun. His legs were shaking.
“I don’t need to tell you how to say it.” Eva turned on her phone, clicked on the recording, and looked at Simon, who was shivering.
“I know, I know! I will tell the truth!” Although he loved money, compared with his life, he still had a clear sense of priorities.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“Sheila, she told me to do it, she said she’d give me one million if I did it, and when I lost my money in gambling, I said yes, and she said it would be fine.”
“When did you get the money?”
“She gave me five hundred thousand before, five hundred thousand after the job was done.”
“What about the account number?”
“Yes, yes, I’ll get it for you.” Simon quickly went to the bedside table to find the card and gave it to Eva.
“However, there is no money on this card.”
Eva got what she wanted, and she’s not going to give Simon a hard time.
Watching Eva leave, Simon plopped down on the bed and wiped the sweat from his forehead. This was really the feeling of coming back from the dead.
Sheila, that bitch, told him there was no risk involved, and he almost lost his life for it. Simon cursed Sheila a dozen times.
Eva knew that to prove her innocence, she had to find the evidence. When she got the account number, she was stumped by the fact that the money transfer records were posted overseas. She really didn’t have the skill to find out who was behind the remittance details.
The evidence will only clear her, but it won’t be enough to find out who’s behind it, and even though Simon said Sheila was behind it, Simon’s word alone isn’t going to convince anyone.
It’s going to be a hell of a lot harder to clean herself and turn on Sheila. After thinking about it for a long time, Eva didn’t have any clue, so she went straight back to Rosenfeld Hill.
It’s the middle of the day, and Caleb was home, and Eva was watching Caleb reading the newspaper on the couch, trying to sneak back into the bedroom, and Caleb stopped her.
“Where did you go?” Caleb didn’t look up, his voice unusually calm, but Eva sensed danger.
Eva quipped, “I didn’t go anywhere, and I just went for a walk. Oh, I’m so tired. I’ll go to my room for a rest.” Eva was afraid that Caleb would find out, and she wanted to run away.
“Good shot.”
Caleb set Eva’s feet in place with a single word, and the air was silent.
What did the boss just say!
How did he know she had a gun!
“Well…”
“Next time don’t do something so dangerous.”
Eva was struggling to explain to Caleb, but Caleb had let her off the hook, that he hadn’t asked why she had a gun. Eva was relieved. If he does ask, she wouldn’t know what to tell Caleb. And she was also scared by the CEO, even thinking of confessing it instead of denying it…
“Got the evidence?”
Eva was completely taken aback by Caleb’s statement and was preoccupied with how to get away with it, not knowing how Caleb knew she had gone after Simon, or how he knew she had a gun.
Ever since Eva was almost attacked at the bar, Caleb’s had people protecting her in secret, keeping him in the loop about everything.
“I got the evidence. I got the e-mail messages and the wire transfer details from Simon, but that only proves I’m innocent, and I can’t crack it. I’m still trying to figure out who did this, but I don’t think it’s going to happen,” Eva said as she lay down on the couch.
Caleb looked at Eva’s face and said simply, “give it to me.”
“What do you need it for? Do you want to help me get a hacker to crack it?” Eva listened to Caleb and sat up straight.
“No.”
“No, what?”
“We don’t need a hacker.”
Eva watched Caleb get up and went for the stairs, she followed him up the stairs.
Caleb went into the study, turned on his computer, and he started his operation. To someone who has no knowledge of technology and science, it looked simply dazzling, the string of characters displayed on the computer, Eva looked at them for a long time and also studied for a long time, she didn’t understand a word.
So she gave up and sat back and waited.
It was like a string of gobbledygook to her. It seems that acting is the only thing for her.
Eva sat on the couch and stared at the computer in front of Caleb, looking at him now, Mr. Livingstone was so handsome, even if he just sat there quietly; he would still be able to charm a lot of girls. And men who work hard are the most handsome, especially those who work for her.
Eva now knew why Caleb had always been named the most desirable man for a woman to marry, and sure enough, they were right.
Eva was still imagining all kind of things about Mr. CEO, while over here, Caleb had already cracked the IP address.
“Come here.”
“Is it ready?” Eva looked at Caleb excitedly.
“Hm.” Caleb nodded.
Caleb knew Eva wouldn’t understand the complicated code, and she didn’t need to, so he just showed her the final result.
The computer screen showed that the IP address, from which the e-mail was sent, was actually the address of Sheila’s apartment. The overseas account holder was Lindsay Pappademas, Sheila’s assistant.
Seeing this result, Eva almost jumped up and hugged Caleb beside her, “Oh, Mr. Livingstone, you could totally be an amazing master hacker, with the skill to hack into a system so quickly.”
