That’s impossible. Mr. Wheeler’s family is rich and influential. Why would he be afraid of Christopher?
Fabio shook his head to shake off that thought. Fabian’s brows were also knitted at how confusing
things were.
Douglas and Scarlett were mute with embarrassment. Not only does Christopher know Tyler, he even
got the latter to finish a drink as a form of apology! What even is going on?
Scarlett felt a jolt of anger as she recalled how Douglas had to talk to Tyler in a flattering manner.
“Mr. Wheeler, I’m Christopher’s father-in-law. Why don’t you join us for dinner? Here, take a seat.”
Frank grew increasingly ecstatic. Oh, I can’t believe Christopher is making us proud! Cindy also chimed
in, “Hello, I’m Christopher’s mother-in-law. Come, join us for dinner!”
Tyler was nearly shaking in terror. He had used up all his acting skills to put on a calm front.
Christopher didn’t ask him to join them for dinner, so he wouldn’t dare to do so presumptuously.
Offending Christopher was a recipe for disaster.
“No, thanks. I’m going to meet someone else for dinner, so I have to leave now. Goodbye, Christopher!”
Tyler bade them goodbye as a smile flitted across his lips.
“All right. I know you’re a busy man, so I won’t keep you here.”
Naturally, Christopher wasn’t about to ask Tyler to stay. Hearing that, Tyler heaved a sigh of relief and
shot everyone a smile before turning to leave the room hastily. After exiting the room, he made a dash
toward the elevator.
Tyler dared not stay there for a second longer, as Christopher was too intimidating.
After Tyler made his leave, the private room descended into an awkward silence. Fabian’s family hung Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
their heads low. Fabio, especially, was trying hard to keep his frustration in check. They had wanted to
watch Christopher getting shamed in public, but he had proven them wrong.
Scarlett was livid. Even after racking her brains, she couldn’t fathom how a retired soldier would get to
know a rich brat like Tyler.
Even Douglas was considered poor if she were to compare him to Tyler.
Fabian quickly regained his composure and glanced at Christopher. “So you do know Tyler. Why didn’t
you help us out earlier?”
“Yes. You’re part of the family. It would have been humiliating if they had kicked us out earlier. Don’t
you know how mortifying that will be?” Scarlett snarled.
“I know Tyler, but we aren’t close friends as you imagined. We are merely acquaintances. Remember
that tender? I was signing the contract with Ms. Clark when I ran into him. His family wanted to discuss
a collaboration with Centurion Corporation. We shook hands, and that’s it,” Christopher explained.
He wasn’t about to reveal his true identity and could only lie that they had met back when he was
signing the contract with Amanda.
“Pfft! I thought you were close friends with Mr. Wheeler. Turns out you were adorning yourself with
borrowed plumes!” Fabio scorned.
“Yes. If Mr. Wheeler finds out that you’re just a retired soldier, he will stop calling you by your first
name!” Scarlett chimed in scathingly.
Douglas promptly regained his superiority and snorted. “I can’t believe that’s how you got to know Mr.
Wheeler. No wonder you dared not ask him to stay for dinner. You’re afraid he’ll discover your real
identity. Christopher, you’re indeed amazing!”
Douglas didn’t hold back. He wanted to regain some of his lost dignity, as he had been schooled by
Christopher a while ago.
“You’re wrong. I was afraid that Mr. Wheeler might look down upon me as we got into the VIP room
without a VIP card. Douglas, you’re amazing for achieving this feat, too.” Christopher remained
unfazed.
“Hey!” Douglas jumped to his feet in anger after hearing Christopher’s sarcastic response.
Fabian chuckled. “This is a family dinner, so please stop arguing. Fabio, pour some tea for Christopher.
He was the one who cut the deal with Centurion Corporation, after all. He has made us proud.”
With that, Fabian knocked on the teapot right beside him. A cold glint flashed across Fabio’s eyes. He
got to his feet and grabbed the teapot before heading to Christopher’s seat. The tea was freshly
brewed and steaming hot.
Christopher’s lips twitched as he snorted inwardly.
Indeed, when Fabio was pretending to pour tea for Christopher, he tried to pour the hot liquid onto
Christopher’s body.
However, Christopher had seen through his evil deed. He picked Erisa up and dodged Fabio’s attack
deftly. The hot liquid didn’t burn Christopher, and Fabio ended up staggering backward in fear.
Crash!
Everyone in the room gaped in disbelief. Fabio’s fat body had destroyed the expensive antique painting
in the VIP room of Gold River Hotel.
