Armand asked, “Did you find out if they were in a relationship?”

A while back, Genevieve had tasked him with probing into the dynamics between Scarlette and Zander.
The reason for this was that Charlotte had once witnessed Scarlette and Zander in each other's
company, appearing rather close. However, given Charlotte's history of past romantic involvement with
Zander, Genevieve held the belief that Scarlette was not Zander's usual type.
Despite having been classmates, Johanna and Zander lost touch after she went abroad for high
school, and their communication dwindled significantly.
Armand was perplexed by the fact that Zander had never crossed paths with Johanna in Jadeborough

There were too many things that didn't sit right with Armand, but he couldn't connect the dots. He
closed the file he had been reading, looking deep in thought. “You should go get some rest, Steven.”
“Do we need to continue the investigation?” asked Steven.
“It's fine, it wasn't a significant matter after all,” Armand said with a hint of helplessness. “Scarlette and I
have known each other since childhood, and Zander used to be Charlotte's boyfriend. Genevieve was
just seeking some juicy gossip.”
Steven paused for a moment, taken aback by the revelation about Zander and Charlotte. He then
composed himself and asked, “Mr. Faulkner, do you think Jerry is worth all this trouble?”
Recalling the events from the night before, when he had accompanied Armand to Xedells to assist, and
the things he had witnessed, Steven couldn't help but question why Jerry would go to such lengths for
a woman.
Surprisingly, given Ms. Benson's personality, Jerry had been deeply involved with her for several years,
even sacrificing a lot for her. Couldn't he find a woman who was better suited for him than Ms. Benson?
Armand posed a straightforward question, “If your family disapproved of Becca to the extent of killing
her themselves, would you simply accept it or would you take action to avenge her?”
Steven responded, “Certainly, I would seek revenge for her. However, this situation is different. Ms.
Benson doesn't love him.”
“If there wasn't love between them, she wouldn't have been involved with Jerry for such an extended
period,” Armand remarked with a slight smile. “You might want to investigate whether she has ever
rekindled a relationship with any of her previous boyfriends apart from Jerry.”
Upon hearing this, Steven expressed his confusion, “Mr. Faulkner, if you understand love so
thoroughly, then why did you do that back then?”
“Why do you act like Timothy, constantly dredging up the past?” Armand cast a cold glance at the man.
“When I have a wife who discusses such matters with me every night, it's hard not to gain insight into
these things.”
“Well, why didn't you tell me it was Mrs. Faulkner who told you all those stories?”
