Natalie pressed her lips together with a sense of helplessness and nodded. “Okay.” Before leaving, Jeremy said to Skylar again, “Thank you for taking care of Natalie.”

Skylar just watched him, feeling a bit strange seeing how he acted as if he and Natalle hadn’t divorced.

After Jeremy left, she turned to look at Natalie.

But, before she could say anything, Natalie quickly said, “We were clear about everything when we divorced. But lately, he’ll act like we haven’t separated whenever we run into each other. No matter how much I tell him, he just keeps behaving this way.”

“He probably regrets divorcing you,” Skylar remarked, feeling ly emotional.

It was obvious that Jeremy loved Natalie. The infidelity was likely due to external influences, perhaps some kind of bad influence or something. It seemed like fate was playing a cruel joke on him.

Natalie’s eyes dimmed. Then, she got out of bed and sat back at the table, finishing her chicken soup.

After taking a few sips, she said, “It’s impossible for us to be together again. You know, I’ve seen the video of him with Annabelle. I can’t forget it. I know I’m being selfish by wanting to run away. But recently, I realized that I’ve let go of my feelings for him.”

Perhaps knowing they were never meant to be in this lifetime made it easier to let go of such deep emotions. Thinking about it now, Natalie suddenly felt quite cold–hearted. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

After leaving, Jeremy went to see Austin.

They looked at each other until Austin broke the silence. “Mr. Hughes, if you have something to say, just say it.”

“Do you like Natalie?” Jeremy asked bluntly.

Austin smiled and said, “Yes, I do.”

Jeremy’s expression darkened. “You should find someone else. Natalie is my wife.”

“Ex–wife,” Austin corrected him before adding, “Mr. Hughes, you should show some restraint. Natalie isn’t someone you can be trifled with, and what you’re doing now is more likely to hurt her.”

Jeremy’s expression changed drastically, and his gaze grew intense and oppressive as he stared at

Austin,

Meanwhile, Austin wasn’t bothered by Jeremy’s intimidating presence and continued. “She seems to have feelings for me recently. You should know when to stop and not become the third party between us.”

“Austin Powell! Do you know who you’re talking to? Do you know who I am? I could destroy everything you’ve worked for in the entertainment industry over the past decade easily!” Jeremy shouted in anger.

But Austin remained calm. “Why else do you think I’ve come this far other than because of my talent and hard work? Do you think you can really suppress me? You can’t destroy me.”

Natalie still felt unwell, so she went to bed early in the evening.

Skylar didn’t feel sleepy, so she turned on a small lamp and read an e–book. She also handled some work Janine had sent her.

“Skye, someone sent this picture of a ring asking us to verify if it’s real and if it has any special meaning. The order came a few days ago, but I just got to it,” Janine had messaged.

Skylar had handed over the complete management of the store to her adoptive mother, Janine.

They had hired a few employees, and all items for sale were authenticated. However, some customers still requested appraisals.

The processing times were noted to be anywhere between seven days to half a month, with urgent orders eligible for cancellation.

So, Skylar opened the picture and zoomed in on the ring.

The ring exuded a strong sense of antiquity even through the screen–it was indeed an artifact. But…

Skylar suddenly focused on the details. Subtle patterns co surface. However, there was something odd about it.

faintly seen on the ring’s emerald–green

As the pictures were not taken in high resolution, the patterns weren’t very clear, so she couldn’t be entirely sure what to make of them yet. She couldn’t sense the ring’s full historical significance despite it clearly being an antique,
