As soon as Rosa spoke, the group that was leaving cast strange glances in their direction.

Rowan was known for his boldness, and he wasn’t intimidated by anyone in Jipsburg. He chuckled lightly at Rosa’s comment. “Why do I get the feeling you’re afraid of something, Ms. Reese?”

He figured that when she mentioned not wanting him and his friend to disturb them, she was referring to Skylar. It seemed Rosa was wary of Skylar. This was intriguing.

Rowan wondered if she was worried that Skylar’s beauty would enchant Ned and steal him away.

“What do I have to be afraid of?” Rosa furrowed her brows.

She had no good impression of either the woman who had been teary–eyed while looking at Ned or of Rowan himself. She couldn’t shake the feeling that they would somehow take Ned away from her.

Seeing that he had provoked enough, Rowan glanced at Ned before deciding to leave. He was in a pretty foul mood today, feeling overwhelmed by a tumult of emotions he couldn’t sort through.

As for Ned’s true identity, he was certain that after the charity gala, information about his background would be revealed by the next day.

It was just a pity for Skylar. Meeting Ned today would only bring her more pain.

Seeing Rowan leave as if nothing happened, Rosa bit her lip and quietly said to Ned, “He’s so rude.”

After today’s gala, she had lost all good impressions of the people present. When Ned didn’t respond, she turned to him. Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.

Noticing that he seemed lost in thought and his expression was serious, she immediately asked with concern, “Ned, are you feeling unwell? Do you want to go to the hospital?”

At the mention of the hospital, Ned frowned and replied, “No need.”

“Alright then. Let’s head back to the hotel to rest.” Rosa knew Ned disliked visiting hospitals. Over the past two years, his headaches and insomnia had worsened, and even sleeping pills didn’t always help.

After a couple of visits, Ned had developed a strong aversion to hospitals.

During their previous visits to the hospitals, Ned appeared to resist going as if by instinct. However, with her insistence, he eventually agreed. Unfortunately, the doctors could only help alleviate some of his headaches. When it came to insomnia, there was little they could do.

For some reason, Rosa felt a sudden wave of unease wash over her. She had the distinct feeling they shouldn’t linger in Jipsburg City.

After they stepped out and got into the car, she turned to Ned and said, “I really don’t like this place. Can we leave soon? I prefer being at home rather than staying in a hotel. It’s much more comfortable.”

Ned seemed to be in so much pain that he didn’t catch her words clearly. He acknowledged she was speaking and replied, “Sorry, I didn’t catch what you said.”

“I… It’s nothing. I’m just worried that your headache will get worse. I asked around and found out about a doctor who specializes in acupuncture.” Rosa quickly shifted the topic.

Now that she had calmed down, she felt relieved Ned hadn’t heard her earlier thoughts. Otherwise, she would have appeared overly sensitive.

This trip was never meant to be prolonged. Once they signed the contract, they would leave Jipsburg City, and another manager from the branch office would come in to take over.

She had been looking forward to visiting Jipsburg City to see its unique scenery, but now… she took a deep breath and pushed those thoughts aside.

She hoped that during their stay, there wouldn’t be any further complications.

After they drove off, Aiken’s car pulled up behind them.
