Paul thought briefly before saying, “Don’t! I feel like what’s going on between them this time is a little out of the ordinary. Let’s refrain from making things worse.
Howard had just been running his mouth. He emphasized, “Mr. Martin’s health is not something to be kidded with. If he keeps losing sleep, something catastrophic is going to happen.
“He fainted without warning. This has never happened before. I feel like this isn’t normal. I discussed it with my seniors, and we agree that Mr. Martin’s current health has taken a sharp plunge compared to how he’d been a few months ago.”
“How could that be? Ever since Mr. Martin married her, he’s never lost sleep. Even on business trips, he could catch two or three hours of sleep. Under such circumstances, his health should only improve. Why would it decline?” Paul couldn’t believe it.
“I found it weird too. When Mr. Martin got hurt a while ago, he underwent a full body check–up. It showed that he was at the pinnacle of health. Today, his health was nothing in comparison to how it had been. When Mr. Martin wakes up, we’ve got to convince him to get checked up in the hospital,” said Howard.
Paul nodded.
Skylar went upstairs and walked into the master bedroom. The door was ajar.
She tiptoed inside. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Joe lay in bed with a needle in his arm. He was on a drip.
When Joe had been stabbed previously, he’d been conscious when she arrived in the hospital. His eyes had gleamed murderously. At least she only worried about how severely he’d gotten hurt back then. Now, as Skylar watched Joe completely unconscious and breathing lightly, Skylar worried that he’d pass away any second now.
She didn’t dare to make a sound. Instead, she sat beside him and studied him quietly.
Even though he was unconscious, his brows were still knitted together. His features were as sharp and scary as they’d always been. Sleep hadn’t relaxed him at all. He looked as though his guard was up.
Gloria was right. Joe had to face too many challenges alone growing up. He had to build a wall around his heart to protect himself.
Which kid didn’t want to be accompanied and loved by their parents?
However, Joe had never had that.
Although she’d suffered at the hands of the Williamses, she’d grown up bathed in love from Janine,
Steven, and the rest of her brothers. They pampered her all through her childhood.
Even though she would never know how it felt to be in Joe’s position, she could understand why he didn’t Jike getting too close to others.
Skylar felt for him.
Just as she was about to soothe the knot between his eyes, he grabbed her hand.
“You…”
She had wanted to ask if he was awake, but he stopped her before she could finish her sentence.
Joe had caught her hand subconsciously. He hadn’t woken up yet.
Skylar tried to extract her hand but realized that he had an iron grip on her. She could barely move.
She lay by his bed and drifted off without realizing it.
Paul and Howard came upstairs after a while.
It was time to change the drip out.
They weren’t expecting to encounter a conscious Joe.
His dark eyes glared over at them, as though dissatisfied by their arrival. They felt as though their legs had turned into lead and thus rooted into the ground.
Only then did they realize that Skylar had fallen asleep by his bed.
Initially, Paul and Howard had been concerned about Skylar and Joe’s relationship. The scene before them floored the two men. However, they couldn’t stop the joy sparking in their hearts.
Their concern had been for naught. Why would couples fight every day?
As they were still fretting over their relationship, Skylar and Joe had begun getting along like how they used to!
Paul and Howard were being third wheels!
Paul reacted quickly and slipped away.
Howard was stuck in a limbo. Paul could leave, but that option wasn’t available for him. He could only explain in a whisper, “Mr. Martin, it’s time to change the drip out.”
