My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul

Chapter 868

Skylar went to the fridge to grab some beers. She also took the opportunity to wash some fruit.

The table was filled with various beef jerky flavors. As she opened the package, the aroma of the barbecue beef jerky wafted through the air. She had been so busy lately that she hadn't had time to enjoy snacks like this. She remembered seeing posts on Instagram about this popular chain. People said it was the best beef jerky shop in Jipsburg City. Tonight, she finally had a chance to try it.

By the time she finished setting everything up, Joe had come downstairs after his shower.

They didn't say much to each other. They sat quietly side by side, watching their show and munching on the peppered beef jerky.

Joe only took a few bites. He wasn't a fan of the peppered flavor, but he drank beer and ate some fruit. On the other hand, Skylar had a big appetite. Without realizing it, she had devoured almost half of the beef jerky by herself.

She belatedly glanced at Joe.

He seemed unusually easygoing tonight, with an air of friendliness about him.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.

The way they sat there now felt like how a normal couple would act. There was no need for words, yet there was a warmth in their eyes when they looked at each other.

Skylar wondered if it was the beer making her see Joe in a different light.

"Skylar," Joe suddenly spoke.

"Hmm?" She looked up at him, her eyes a bit dazed from the alcohol.

Joe leaned in and kissed her.

After the kiss ended, he said, “No divorce. Is that okay?"

Skylar wondered if she had misheard him saying he didn't want a divorce.

"You..." Skylar was stunned.

She pondered whether he was serious or if it was just a spur-of-the-moment decision. Just as she was about to ask if he had really thought it through, her phone suddenly rang. Skylar reached for her phone. She answered the call with a distracted tone. “Hello."

"Skylar, this is Aiken. Can you come to Apollo Hospital? Only you might be able to calm Simona down and make her listen." Aiken's voice was urgent and tinged with a hint of helplessness.

Skylar had known Aiken for a while. Though they didn't meet often, he had always seemed calm and composed. It was clear that only someone like Simona could unsettle him.

Realizing the seriousness of the situation, she asked, "What happened to Simona?"

"Simona... has been bullied," Aiken said. His voice was filled with pain and distress.

Although he was trying to control his emotions, the moment he heard Skylar's voice, he couldn't completely control his feelings. Skylar's expression changed dramatically, and she jumped up. “I'm heading there right now!"

After hanging up, Skylar turned to Joe. "Simona has been bullied. I

Simona was young and had just started to make plans and hopes for her future. She couldn't afford to have anything go wrong.

Joe's expression turned cold. "Aiken's sister?"

The situation was related to Aiken.

Skylar clearly had a special connection with him.

“Yes, Aiken's sister. I need to get a cab,” Skylar said. She felt a pang of regret for having had the beer.

Joe pressed his lips tightly. He stood up and made a call to Lucas.

"Lucas should arrive in about 20 minutes," Joe said.

"Okay." Skylar breathed a sigh of relief.

While waiting for Lucas, she quickly changed into more suitable clothes and drank a bottle of milk to ease the effects of the alcohol.

When Lucas arrived, Joe and Skylar both headed outside.

"It's late at night. It's not safe for you to go alone," Joe said.

Skylar glanced at Lucas. She had spoken with him before. He was a former military serviceman with exceptional skills, which was why he worked for Joe.

With someone so capable of driving her back and forth, it seemed impossible for anything to be unsafe
