Chapter 1441
Simona's expression turned icy when she saw the contents of the postcard.
It was from Stephen's so-called boss-the same woman who had been entangled with him, embracing and kissing him on the street.
The postcard contained a threatening message directed at her.
"You're Simona, right? Don't be too overbearing. You're so domineering at such a young age-aren't you afraid your future boyfriends will leave you too?
"You've really hurt Stephen. Do you think making him look bad on social media will make him stay with you? Let me tell you, it'll only push him further away.
"I'll be here to support him through this difficult time, but I hope you'll one day realize your mistake and sincerely apologize to Stephen online and let everyone know the truth!
"Don't think that what you did won't come out eventually. When it does, you're the one who will be in trouble. Young lady, don't think that being young gives you the right to act recklessly!"
Simona's lips twitched. What kind of ridiculous nonsense was this?
This woman was obviously completely brainwashed by Stephen. And it was clear that Stephen had blamed her for the entire situation.
Now, she truly realized just how low Stephen was. Those two were perfect for each other-they should stay together and stop dragging others into their mess.
Skylar's sudden arrival at Pearlhall Residence caught Gloria and Edgar off guard.
Gloria had just returned from the hospital the day before and was not in great condition. Even getting out of bed was a struggle today.
When Edgar saw Skylar, he froze in shock, standing still for several seconds.
"Mrs. Martin, why are you back?" Edgar asked hurriedly after snapping out of his reverie.
Skylar noticed his odd reaction. The way Edgar looked at her even seemed a little panicked.
Frowning, she asked, "I missed Grandma. Is she resting in her room?"
Edgar's eyes darted nervously. "Mrs. Martin, please have a seat. Mrs. Martin Senior was just resting. I'll go check if she's awake."
A heavy feeling crept into Skylar's heart. If she didn't realize something was wrong now, she would truly be blind.
"I'll go check myself. Joe will also be coming back soon. We're planning to stay here for a while," Skylar said, striding quickly upstairs as she spoke. Edgar's expression changed as he hurried after her.
Soon, Skylar entered Gloria's room and saw her lying on the bed.
Gloria looked pale, and when she opened her eyes to look at Skylar the usual light in them was absent. She appeared weak and fragile, a stark contrast to her usual spirited self.
This was the first time Skylar had seen Gloria so frail. Even during her difficult period in Murida, when she had been hospitalized for nearly a month, she had seemed in better shape than now.
"Skye, you're here? I was a bit tired earlier and just took a nap. I'm still not fully awake," Gloria said, her voice feeble.novelbin
Although Gloria tried her best to act normal, she couldn't hide her weakness and sickly demeanor.
Skylar was momentarily stunned
before turning to look at Edgar, who
had followed her in. Seeing the
redness in Edgar's eyes, Skylar instantly understood the truth about Gloria's health.
Back in Murida, the doctors had told her that Gloria's condition wouldn't allow her to hold on for much longer.
Still, she had hoped for a miracle. But now...
Skylar felt her heart tremble. "I missed you, Grandma. I got so used to living with you in Murida that I don't want to be apart from you now.
"Grandma, how about Joe and I move back here? A family should live together, don't you think?" Skylar said, keeping her tone light and warm, like a child longing for her family.
Gloria smiled weakly. "Oh, my dear... Young people aren't supposed to want to live with old people like me. You and Joe should enjoy your time together as a couple.
"I'm doing just fine. Don't worry about me. As long as you and Joe are happy, I'm happy."
