My Flash Romance With the Richest Mogul

Chapter 1425

Veronica quickly moved to the window and peered outside. Noticing that the other buildings and high-rises were brightly lit, she frowned.

Fortunately, moonlight spilled into the room, preventing it from being completely dark. She hurried to Skylar's door and said, "Mrs. Martin, I'm not sure why the power is out. If you need anything, just call me. By the way, if Mr. Martin comes back, he'll probably have to take the stairs.

"I hope the power is restored soon so he can take the elevator."

"Okay, Veronica. You should take a break and turn off the stove in the kitchen," Skylar replied, placing her book aside and stifling a yawn.

Even though the power was out at home, her phone still had some battery. She quickly opened her WhatsApp to inform Joe about the power outage at home and to ask when he would return.

After sending the message, she didn't wait for Joe's response. Instead, she checked the community group chat. The chat included homeowners and property management staff. If anything important happened, the staff would notify everyone there.

As she entered the chat, she saw someone had posted photos of an accident in the underground parking garage, along with images of two men chasing someone with electric batons up the stairs.

Then, several residents who had witnessed the scene began to share their anxious comments in the group chat.

"This isn't a scene from a movie. It's really happening right here! It's terrifying! You wouldn't believe it! Those two guys drove their car into someone and crashed into the wall, totally wrecking the vehicle. We felt like we were in an earthquake. It's so frightening!"

"I wonder who they were trying to kill. Please check on your family members to ensure they're safe. We've called the police, but we can't confirm whether anyone is injured or worse. The police are on their way and should be here soon."

"Everyone, please stay calm. We have contacted the police. As for the power outage, we found the cause it was indeed someone who cut the power.

"Our staff is working to restore it as quickly as possible. If all goes well, we expect the power to be back on in about half an hour."

The group chat was almost flooded with messages. Everyone was expressing their fear about the situation.

Skylar looked at the photo of the severely wrecked car, and her heart sank as she absorbed the owner's comments. She wondered who those two people might be chasing.

A wave of fear washed over her as she thought about Joe, who still hadn't replied.

Just as her heart raced and she considered checking the stairwell for updates, Joe's message finally came through.

"I'm in the underground parking lot. I'll head up once the power is back on. Did you see the messages in the community group chat? Don't worry, I'm fine."

Seeing his reply brought relief to Skylar. She heaved a sigh of relief. She had been worried that something had happened to him.

After all, Joe's return elicited mixed feelings among people-some were excited, while others wished he would stay away.

Joe had encountered all sorts of dangers in the past, especially now that he was making a crucial return to the Martin Group.

For some reason, she found it hard

to settle down. Knowing that power restoration wouldn't come for at least a few minutes, she left her bedroom with her phone in hand and approached Veronica.

Veronica was at the window, scrolling through her phone, watching some entertaining clips that many older folks enjoyed. Upon hearing the noise behind her she turned around. novelbin

"Mrs. Martin."

"Veronica, has Edgar mentioned anything about Grandma's condition lately?" Skylar engaged her in casual conversation.

Veronica shook her head. "He hasn't

said anything. Mrs. Martin Senior's situation is about the same as when she was in Murida. We just need to make sure she gets proper rest if anything changes, Edgar will let us know right away."
