Chapter 1423
The doctor said, "Mrs. Martin Senior's condition is quite serious. She likely only has about a month left, and continuing treatment in the hospital wouldn't be beneficial. I've interacted with her frequently and know that she doesn't like being in the hospital.
"She would be much more comfortable at home, where she can rest properly. During this month, try to keep her happy as much as possible." Edgar's face changed dramatically upon hearing the news. Despite having prepared himself mentally, he still felt an overwhelming sense of grief. He replied, "Okay, I understand. Thank you."
Gloria was left for less than a month. It was a short time, and he knew he couldn't keep this from Joe and Skylar any longer. He had to find an opportunity to tell them.novelbin
An hour later, Gloria woke up to find herself in a hospital room. She noticed Edgar sleeping on the couch beside her, realizing that she had made it through this time.
However, as she regained consciousness, she felt a distinct weakness in her body. After holding on for so many years, it seemed she could no longer endure.
A metallic taste lingered in her mouth, and she felt discomfort. She reached for the glass of water on the table beside her, but her hand fell weakly to her side before she could grasp it.
She let out a faint sigh. It was this sigh that roused Edgar, who had been dozing lightly on the couch nearby. With age, his reflexes had slowed considerably compared to his younger days.
"Mrs. Martin Senior, you're awake!" he exclaimed, quickly sitting up.
"I'd like some water," Gloria replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
Edgar's heart ached at the sight of her struggle. "Alright, I'll get you some warm water. This water is too cold for you."
Gloria had always preferred warm water, as cold drinks could harm her health. She weakly nodded in agreement.
In just a minute, Edgar prepared the warm water and carefully helped Gloria to sit up. After slowly sipping a few mouthfuls of water, she felt a bit more comfortable in her mouth.
When she spoke again, her voice was stronger than before. "What did the doctor say?"
Edgar hadn't expected her to ask so directly, and he hesitated, struggling to find the right words. "The doctor..."
However, Gloria appeared to have
already come to terms with her
situation. Just tell me what the
doctor said. You've been with met

"You can't hide secrets from me. Just say it. I know my own health. Did the doctor say I won't last much longer? A few days, perhaps?"
With her health being so fragile, she felt grateful to have made it this far. Like Kevin had said, she had been living on borrowed time.
After all this time, she felt she had lived enough. There was nothing left to fret over.
Upon hearing her words, Edgar's eyes reddened, and tears began to flow. "It's not a matter of days. It's about a month."
Gloria smiled softly. "A whole
month? That's plenty of time. I'm not
about to drop dead any moment
now. Why are you crying? Save those tears for the day I'm gone."
"Mrs. Martin Senior!" Edgar couldn't hold back his emotions. Hearing her words made him feel even more heartbroken.
Gloria's smile faded. "Let's wait half
a month before telling them. By then, Skye will be feeling better, and things on Joe's end will have
stabilized. We can invite them

to Pearlhall Residence to stay with me for half a month."
She had already made her plans.
"Whatever you say, Mrs. Martin Senior," Edgar replied, wiping his tears, feeling an overwhelming sorrow in his heart.
In the underground parking garage, Lucas parked the car. Just as Joe was about to exit the vehicle and head for the elevator, the lights suddenly went out.
