Chapter 1327
Mick glanced at Charles, a hint of awkwardness in his gaze. Charles had agreed to take on the role primarily because of Mick's request. He had accepted despite the low pay, drawn in by the script's potential. But the situation had changed dramatically since then.
The female lead, Rita Row, had the financial influence to shift the balance of everything. The script, once a male-led drama, had undergone countless revisions and was now almost entirely reshaped into a female-centric story. The other lead character's arc was now solely designed to support Rita's growth.Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Charles' face darkened as Mick spoke, his eyes shifting to Rita, the rising star. They had crossed paths while playing minor roles in the past, and he had once been interested in her.
But soon enough, she had climbed into the beds of various directors, assistant directors, and investors, doing whatever it took to gain fame. This left him completely disillusioned with women.
He would have never agreed to the project if he had known the female lead would be someone like her. But now, bound by contract and unwilling to pay the steep penalties for backing out, he had no choice but to continue. With only a few scenes left to shoot, he focused on finishing his parts.
Noticing Charles' displeased expression, Mick quickly added, "Mr. Houle isn't happy about this either. He has no say in this production and is probably more frustrated than you. The female lead's performance is really lacking, and no amount of coaching from Mr. Houle seems to help." After hearing this, Charles' expression lightened a bit.
With a wry smile, he said, "Let me grab some iced lemon tea for you all to cool off. I'm going to take a nap. Just let me know when it's my turn to film tonight."
"Got it."
Skylar didn't expect to receive a call from Jipsburg's police. She was even more shocked to learn that Maisy had fallen to such depths, showing no signs of learning from her mistakes or reflecting on her actions.
Instead, Maisy was still playing the blame game, attempting to shift responsibility to others. She had
provided the police with a list o
names, claiming these individuals were involved in her fraudulent
activities.
To make matters worse, Skylar had allegedly become the mastermind behind the incident that had left her incapacitated. The claims were completely baseless, lacking evidence, and absurd.
However, since it was a formal statement, the police followed the protocol and contacted Skylar.
"All of her statements are ridiculous. I trust the police," Skylar said to the officer before ending the call.
Skylar received the call just as they were having dinner. Gloria overheard the conversation. She knew who Maisy was.
Having lived a long life, Gloria could tell from Skylar's demeanor how much this bothered her. "Don't let someone like Maisy get to you, Skye. Don't let her ruin your appetite."
Nearby, Veronica chimed in, "I have a
relative who knows Maisy well. Her son was in the same class as Maisy in high school. Three girls in that class fell victim to her schemes, and they all went missing in Askea. They're likely dead since no one has been able to find them.
"Maisy is truly wicked to the core. She can even betray her classmates and still try to pin the blame on others for her own mistakes."
People could be so unpredictable, hiding darkness beneath a seemingly kind exterior. The idea of it made Skylar feel sick.
Seeing the concern on Gloria and Veronica's faces, Skylar smiled. "Maisy's actions don't affect me at all."
She was merely astonished by
Maisy's thought process. She pondered what led her to believe she could deceive and manipulate

everyone around her. Even in front of the police, she spoke nonsense.
"Skye, are you going out tomorrow?" Gloria asked.
