Chapter 1320
Joe still couldn't recall everything, but he couldn't deny the inexplicable draw he'd felt toward Skylar from the start. There was something captivating about listening to her recount their past, whether it was about Gloria or their journey from a blind date to a marriage he could hardly remember.
Skylar suddenly felt eyes on her. Turning, she found Joe's gaze fixed on her, unblinking. She smiled.
Joe didn't show much of an expression, but internally, he was in turmoil.
...
On the drive home, Rosa's tears streamed down her cheeks, her gaze lost on the empty stretch of road ahead. It was as if she needed to release all the frustration that had built up inside her.
Calvin could see her through the rearview mirror, but he pretended not to notice.
He couldn't understand why Rosa's confidence had withered so drastically. She had known Ned since childhood; they had shared years of memories and challenges. Even if Ned's heart wavered like other men's, he would never abandon her. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
Yet, Rosa's recent behavior was unsettling. She was teetering on a precipice, her actions pushing Ned further away rather than pulling him closer. Calvin worried that Ned would become displeased with her.
"Are you laughing at me? Do you think I deserve to be left behind?" Rosa asked, her eyes red with emotion.
She could feel Calvin's silent scrutiny, and the thought of even a mere assistant finding her situation amusing sent a surge of anger through her. Calvin quickly replied, "No, that's not what I think at all. Mr. Sowle would never abandon you, Ms. Reese. You two are engaged, and your wedding is coming up soon. He would never leave you, so please don't overthink it."
"You saw how he was when he looked at Skylar. He looked like he had lost his mind. He likes women like her. Maybe I've become nothing more than an annoying obstacle," Rosa said, biting her lip.
She wasn't being overly dramatic. She genuinely felt like a joke.
After more than three years of effort, she wondered if it had all been futile.
Calvin was at a loss for words. He felt that anything he might say next would only make things worse.
Seeing that Calvin remained silent, Rosa sneered and said, "See, even you can tell, can't you?"
Calvin pretended not to hear, focusing entirely on driving.
There was no way he could respond. Rosa was in a state of heartbreak and anger. Any opinion he offered would only complicate matters further. Hence, it was better not to say anything.

Gradually, Rosa began to calm down. Once her emotions settled, regret crept in. She realized she shouldn't have lost her composure and acted so pitifully in front of Joe. Doing so only pushed him further toward Skylar.
And to top it off, by storming out, she had essentially left them alone together.
Rosa suddenly shouted, "Pull over!"
Calvin slammed on the brakes. "Ms. Reese?"
Rosa bit her lip tightly.
A few minutes later, she finally said, "Let's go."
Even though she felt like she had made a huge mistake, going back wasn't an option. Returning would only make her appear weak. She'd already humiliated herself enough for one day. There was no sense in adding to it.
Her rational side helped her regain control. Even if Joe ended up in bed with Skylar, it wouldn't change anything. Joe's memory was still not easily recovered.
As long as she remained Joe's loyal girlfriend, Skylar wouldn't be able to take him away from her.
