Chapter 67 Freya Getting Assaulted

Freya chatted with some women for a while until the current head of the Vincent family gave a speech on the stage. Once he finished thanking everyone, Doris stepped up.

Today was Doris’ coming-of-age ceremony, so all the guests turned their attention to her. Freya saw an opportunity to move to Radley’s side while everyone was distracted.

“Where is the master you mentioned?”

Radley lowered his gaze as the spotlight shifted to the stage, casting a dimmer light on their side. In the dim light, Freya’s skin appeared white, and he could see her curly eyelashes from his angle.

“I haven’t seen him. I’ll ask Mr. Vincent later.” Radley’s voice was low and mellow,

Freya pursed her lips. “I’m starting to think he isn’t here at this banquet.”

Since masters like him were known to have unpredictable temperaments, it wouldn’t be surprising if he didn’t show up.

On the stage. Doris had already finished thanking the guests who had come, and her gaze fell in Freya’s direction. Freya felt Doris’ eyes on her and looked up at the stage.

Doris had golden hair, deep blue eyes, and fair skin like a fairy tale angel. As Freya and Doris locked eyes for a few seconds, she noticed Doris’ gaze shifting slightly to the left.

Upon noticing Doris’ smile, Freya realized that she was actually looking at Radley. As a result, Freya stepped back and made her way to the side.

The banquet continued, and Freya eventually found a sofa in the corner where she sat down to rest. Due to her tired appearance, those around her refrained from approaching and greeting her.

Sitting on the sofa, Freya narrowed her eyes and concluded that the tenon-mortise master had not attended the banquet. She realized that she had come for nothing.

The rumors about the Vincents and the Kaufmanns not getting along outside had been circulating for some time. The Parkers and the Hoods were on good terms with the Kaufmanns, so neither came to the Vincent family’s banquet.

Among the guests, Freya didn’t know anyone. Bored, she propped her chin up as she watched Radley in the distance.

“Freya?” A surprised voice sounded.

Freya turned her head and raised her eyebrows when she saw the person. “Mr. Soli.”

Soli’s face was full of joy. “You actually came. That’s great.

-Freya’s forehead twitched slightly. “Please have a seat.”

The two chatted for a while and even talked about the beating Soli received from Braxton back then. However, Soli appeared to have brushed the incident off.

“My parents were just overly concerned about me back then.” Soli smiled awkwardly. “I didn’t expect rumors about our families not getting along to spread afterward.”

Freya smiled faintly. “It’s just a rumor.”

Soli’s gaze burned as he stared at Freya’s profile. “So, do you have a boyfriend now?”

Freya’s heart tightened, and she cautiously asked, “Why do you ask?”

Soli’s exaggerated pursuit made Freya feel uncomfortable.

Soli was very enthusiastic. “I saw your news a while ago. You divorced the president of the Monaghan Group, so you should be single now, right?”

Freya narrowed her eyes and lied, “No, I have a boyfriend.”

“Well, that’s a shame.” Soli looked disappointed.

As they had only been chatting for a few moments, Radley walked over from a short distance away.

Doris trailed closely beside Radley while flashing a charming smile as she spoke to him.

Radley stopped in front of Freya and glanced at Soli beside her. “I asked Mr. Vincent. The master only sent a gift today and did not come in person.”

Soli politely stood up to greet Radley. “Mr. Monaghan.”

Radley finally looked at Soli directly. “Mr. Vincent, excuse me.”

Soli was taken aback but then stepped aside a few paces. Just as he stood still, he saw Radley walking over and calmly sitting next to Freya.

Doris tried to sit on the other side of Radley, but Soli stopped her with a gloomy expression.

“Dad needs us. Let’s go. He wisely led his sister away.

Looking at the backs of Soli and Doris, Freya teasingly glanced at Radley beside her. “Mr. Monaghan, you seem to have quite the charm. Miss Vincent seems to be quite fond of you.”

Radley’s face remained neutral. “The Monaghans and the Vincents have been cooperating for a while now. We just had a casual conversation.”

Freya smiled indifferently, as it had nothing to do with her.

In the latter half of the banquet, Freya knew the master wouldn’t show up and sat lazily on the sofa.

Radley sat beside her while emitting a cold aura that kept everyone at least ten steps away from them.

The banquet ended, and the guests left one after another.

Freya and Radley left the castle together. When they reached by car, Freya yawned slightly.

Get in. He opened the car door for her.

Freya smirked. “Thanks.”

As she was about to get in the car, she heard a distant shout. “Mr. Monaghan, please wait!”

It was Doris running over, and her face flushed from the exertion. “I- I have something to tell you.”

Freya raised her eyebrows, assuming that Doris was about to confess something to Radley. So, she tactfully took a few steps back.

Radley glanced at Doris, then shifted his gaze to Freya, who had already retreated a few meters away with a look of watching the show.

His face turned colder.

Doris whispered some hints of confession, but Radley didn’t pay much attention to what she was saying. “I’ve been waiting for my eighteenth birthday to tell you these things. Mr. Monaghan, I—”

Meanwhile, Radley’s attention was on Freya, who was smiling and seemed indifferent to whether he accepted other women’s confessions.

He looked at Doris with polite indifference. “Miss Vincent, your father often refers to me as his brother. So, you should know that I’m of the same seniority as your father.”

Doris froze and stared at Radley.

Freya heard his response to Doris and thought he was being mean as she was enjoying the situation a moment ago.

Suddenly, a fast burst of heat whizzed past her ear, and it felt as if her ear was being scorched.

In the next second, a sound of steel being pierced came from a nearby car!

Freya instantly realized that someone was shooting in the dark.

Without even having the time to turn around, she quickly darted to the side.

Radley had already run over to Freya and firmly grabbed her wrist, his voice deep and urgent. “Get in the

car!”

The person in the targeted car screamed, and chaos erupted in the parking lot as people started running. around and scrambling to get into their cars.

Freya’s head was covered by Radley’s hand as he pushed her into his car.

“The car is modified and bulletproof,” Radley explained as he got into the car.

Freya’s expression turned serious, and she gazed out the window.

Knowing the bullet had been fired from behind her, she looked in that direction coldly. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.

There was only one suitable sniper point, which was a decorative tower in the Vincent Residence.

Radley also glanced in the direction where the bullet came from. “I believe the sniper has left.”

Missing the first shot and fleeing far away was the habit of most snipers.
