Chapter 1478: Negotiation
Camille's idea was simple - to discuss the project with Simpson Group. This meant that a professional identity was appropriate, as she wasn't the only one vying for the position; there were many other designers as well.
After Camille asked this question, Ayan fell into a brief silence, seemingly caught off guard by her query.
He smiled faintly, "In what capacity do you wish to collaborate?"
"Of course, in a collaborative capacity. I am the company's chairperson." Even though her company was small, its profits were substantial, comparable to some larger companies. Camille felt no sense of inadequacy as she spoke.
Ayan replied, "Alright, whichever capacity you prefer is acceptable, alright?"
"Thank you for your cooperation, Mr. Simpson. I will head over shortly." Camille quickly responded.
She needed to inform Sienna about going to Simpson Group to talk to Ayan about collaboration. For the sake of work, she also brought Yessica along. Although the company was small, having a complete set of resources was necessary.
After a brief preparation, the two set off for Simpson Group.
Upon arrival, Kian was already waiting downstairs. When he saw Camille and Yessica together, he was taken aback.
Were they here to deceive him and Mr. Simpson?
Kian thought to himself, but maintained a serious demeanor as he approached Camille. "Secretary Armstrong," he addressed her before politely nodding at Yessica.
In their momentary eye contact, it was the first time Camille had seen Kian look so serious, and she felt a bit uneasy. But it was for the best, a reminder that this was a professional meeting.
Kian led the two into the elevator. Yessica stood beside Kian, reaching out to gently touch his hand. Even though Kian remained composed, his heart was in turmoil.
The elevator ride was brief, but to Kian, it felt endless.
This lingering sensation seemed to stretch on indefinitely, until the elevator doors finally opened. Camille was the first to step out, and Yessica, after sharing a mischievous glance with Kian, followed suit. Kian, feeling somewhat helpless, looked at Yessica with affection before also exiting the elevator.
This was Yessica's first visit to Simpson Group and her first time seeing Kian there.
She and Kian were at the stage of discussing marriage and had already met each other's parents. They had set a date for the engagement, and their relationship was one of great love and mutual change for the better.
Two minutes later, the three of them arrived at Ayan's office.
Kian spoke officially, "Mr. Simpson, Secretary Armstrong and her secretary have arrived."
Ayan looked up with a faint gaze, lacking warmth or any particular temperature.
He calmly observed Camille and Yessica before rising from his desk. "Please, have a seat."
Camille had seen men act professionally enough not to be surprised by his distant and cold demeanor while working.
But the two of them sitting on the sofa were not as intimate as before – only a sense of businesslike detachment remained.
Yessica standing by also felt the tension. She was grateful to know that Camille and Ayan were married, as working with him otherwise would have been nerve-wracking.
Compared to Yessica's nerves, Camille was much calmer.
She looked at the man before her, softly expressing her intentions.
After her words, Ayan replied in a gentle tone, "As far as I know, Secretary Armstrong's company has always been responsible for major projects alone. So, if we were to collaborate, would you be able to dedicate all your time to Simpson Group?"
"Of course."
"Meaning you won't take on any other projects?"
"Mr. Simpson, you misunderstand. I won't personally oversee other projects, but my company won't reject all other projects just because I'm working with Simpson Group."
Their eyes met.
Ayan nodded slightly in understanding.
Then, he calmly said, "Does Secretary Armstrong have a preliminary idea for this collaboration?"
"I have a simple plan. Mr. Simpson, please give us some professional advice if you can." Camille followed, extending a hand to Yessica, who quickly handed over the plan for Camille to pass on to
Ayan.
Ayan took the plan and gave a faint smile, a touch of tenderness in his expression. After giving Camille a deep look, he spoke softly, "Secretary Armstrong is well-prepared for this, it seems."
"Rare to see Mr. Simpson. Of course, I had to be well-prepared," Camille added.
Camille continued, "Mr. Simpson, could you provide us with some professional advice? We will definitely cooperate to the fullest."
Placing the plan on the table, Ayan's action surprised Camille, causing her to look at him with a hint of curiosity. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Ayan calmly said, "No rush."
Three words, devoid of any emotion.
Camille's eyes widened, a hint of confusion in her voice as she asked, "Aren't you going to look at it?"
"In what capacity should I review it?" Ayan looked at Camille, repeating the same question she had asked earlier. He said, "If I were to review this plan as the President of Simpson Group, I'm afraid I wouldn't. I have reviewed plans related to cooperation that are worth tens of millions. Otherwise, there's no need for me to review them. But if I were to review it as your husband, then I'd look at it now."
Ayan looked at Camille calmly, a faint smile playing at the corners of his lips. "So, have you made up your mind? In what capacity do you want me to review this plan?"
This time, it was Camille who was at a loss.
She looked at Ayan, biting her lip. "Are you asking me to choose?"
"Yes, I am asking you to choose."
Camille realized that he was doing this deliberately.
Yessica and Kian exchanged a glance, both realizing the situation. Kian's inner voice echoed, "The President is just trying to please his beloved wife, and we have to play along."
Taking a deep breath in silence, Camille finally spoke, "Yessica, negotiate the timing for our future collaboration with Kian."
"Okay."
With that, she took Kian's arm and left the office, closing the door behind them, creating a moment of quiet between Camille and Ayan.
Camille remained seated, a smile on her face as she looked at Ayan. "Mr. Simpson, would you like to take a look at the plan now?"
She made no move to push the matter further, instead waiting for him to take the lead.
