Chapter 1419 Disappointment
Camille's discovery and questions momentarily stunned Ayan, as it was something he hadn't anticipated. However, his only point of suspicion was Brody's unwillingness to pay for Vere's ransom, but it didn't raise any further doubts in other aspects.
Now, Camille's words caught him by surprise, and he told her, "You both come back. I'll have Kian look into this matter. As for that side, let Kian arrange for someone to keep an eye on it. You shouldn't stay there anymore."
If there really were people behind Regina, then Camille and Grace staying here might mean someone is also watching them from behind.
Camille found his reasoning valid and agreed.
The two drove back to Franklin Bay, and only then did Grace express her astonishment. She asked Camille, "Is it because of that uncle Vere mentioned?"
"That's just one thing. Did you notice there are men's clothes in Regina's bedroom? I checked the size, and it doesn't fit Dad."
Brody is slightly overweight, but the clothes in Regina's wardrobe are obviously not the right size.
That's one point. The second point is Brody's attitude and reaction to Vere's kidnapping. Of course, he would be anxious, but it's not intense. If he were truly worried, he would act without hesitation.
But Brody's response has been hesitant, and perhaps he's starting to have doubts?
Lastly, there's the uncle Vere mentioned. Vere probably didn't have any suspicions, but Camille does.
One revelation after another leaves Camille with no choice but to think more.
During dinner that evening, Horace also came to Franklin Bay. The four of them sat together and had a detailed discussion. Although it's just suspicion, the current situation gives everyone the feeling that it's possible, and highly likely.
But it's still under investigation, and since they don't have a specific target, it will take some time.
Then Grace thought of Camille's proposal, which is to handle Brody the same way they dealt with Regina at the police station today. If Brody is suspicious, they can confirm those suspicions and make him utterly disappointed in Regina, full of regret.
Grace said, "I'm already adept at it. I'm sure I can handle this."
She won't fall for Brody's plan.
Camille had no objections, and Ayan naturally had no objections either. After dinner, Grace asked Horace to accompany her, and they left.
After they left, only Camille and Ayan remained in Franklin Bay.
When they were alone, they naturally didn't talk much about this matter. Instead, they held hands and took a stroll around the neighborhood.
Ayan said, "The preparations for the project with Tillery's Corporation are almost finalized. Once it's confirmed, let's take Timmy and our parents to go on a trip for a few days."
"What about going with Grandpa?" Camille asked subconsciously.
Ayan smiled and said, "No wonder Grandpa dotes on you the most. You always think of him. How can he not dote on you?"
Camille just glanced at him lightly and said, "Isn't this a normal question? He's still living in the nursing home. We were busy and didn't get a chance to visit him when we went home a few days ago. If the whole family goes on a trip at this time, he might feel left out, right?"
Ayan smiled faintly and said, "Don't worry, Grandpa will come along too. We won't go too far. We'll just go around nearby for a few days to relax. As for the two of us, we'll go to a farther place for a few days when we go on a business trip in the future."
"Great!" Camille felt relieved. She smiled with satisfaction.
The two walked back and ran into Sienna and Rex. The two of them were also taking a walk after having their fill, all influenced by Camille and Ayan.
Because Sienna and the others had just started, they exchanged greetings and had a brief conversation before going their separate ways.
Camille and Ayan returned home, and Kian sent them a video clip.
They sat on the couch and watched it. The video featured Vere and another man. Tonight, the man delivered something to Vere's doorstep and stayed in the villa for a long time before leaving. Kian sent the video immediately after the man left.
The man's face was clearly visible in the video, so Kian immediately looked him up.
Ayan had some recollection of this man. He had gone bankrupt two years ago after losing his company to a partner due to his gambling addiction. This incident caused quite a stir in Hance City at the time, so Ayan naturally had some impression and familiarity with his face.
Since going bankrupt, the man had been involved in some shady activities, frequently gambling at major casinos to make a living. However, Ayan didn't know the specifics. It was Kian who conducted a detailed investigation after finding out about him.
Kian said, "Mr. Simpson, this Georgie Newton recently came into possession of a sum of money he won, but the losers have been looking for him. They probably want to retaliate, so he's been hiding and avoiding any appearances. Should we take advantage of this and approach him proactively?" Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
"Hiding and avoiding, you say?"
"Yes."
"Then let's tell the losers where he's hiding and offer him a helping hand when needed. Let him confess everything; otherwise, we'll reveal the location of his child to the losers. He should be well aware of the consequences."
Ayan said indifferently, and Kian immediately understood his meaning. Although Ayan said this, he wasn't actually planning to go that far; he just wanted to threaten Georgie.
Now that they had found this man, the next step was a paternity test to reveal the truth.
While Ayan received this news, Grace had no progress on her end.
Brody refused to say anything, even when told that Regina had betrayed him and had turned all her anger towards him. He remained silent.
Brody's reaction made Grace furious, causing her own emotions to become highly agitated and irritable.
Seeing her reaction, Brody simply smiled faintly and said, "Grace, you're still too naive. If you want to get information from me, you should find someone else. I raised you, I know what you're
thinking."
Brody knew that they still didn't have concrete evidence against him, which is why he chose to respond this way and avoid getting caught.
He didn't take the bait.
Grace's face turned cold at his response, and she asked, "So you don't think you've done anything wrong to Mom at all?"
"This is between me and your mother. It's not your place as a younger generation to question me."
"Dad, at this point, you're still acting like an elder? Mom died because of you. You and that despicable Regina conspired against Mom for so many years. Aren't you even a bit remorseful?"
"You think she didn't know anything?"
Brody's indifferent counter-question silenced Grace once again.
