Chapter 72 Touching Her Head

"It has nothing to do with you, so don't bother yourself any further than necessary," Kendrick said

quickly.

Natalie sighed once more. "Maggie gives a lot of herself to acting."

"You asked me once what I wanted to do," she yanked at his shirt again.

Kendrick was completely fixated on her.

"I can't possibly list everything I'd like to do, but one of the things I long for was seeing Maggie win the

award for best actress."

"She's quite eloquent." Kendrick mulled over the idea in his head. Her words triggered his thoughts.

Natalie could occasionally be unreliable with minor details, but she was always calm under pressure.

She was respectful and kind, making it impossible for him to refuse.

Her once again modified his rules and bottom line, but he was willing to accept them.

He suspected that she would keep thinking about it if he didn't say yes.

Kendrick became less serious after that. "Well, about this..."

Natalie smiled, "Let's place a wager on it. If I lose, I'll make you a promise. But if you lose, you must

promise me something."

He immediately looked forward to the game like a child.

"Are you sure you want to bet with me?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.

"Let's play it fair and square. How about we bet it for a year?" Natalie said.

She extended her little finger toward him.

Kendrick pressed his little finger against hers.

Natalie couldn't stop laughing.

Kendrick looked at her wound for a moment before asking, "Does it still hurt?"

He tried his hardest not to hurt her, but he couldn't control his strength.

After all, he was a strong man.

Her childlike behavior irritated him, as she forgot she should never provoke a man.

Natalie said with a grin. "It doesn't hurt now since you dressed my wound."

Kendrick was at a loss for words.

She was sitting face to face with him, and they were close enough that he could touch her head as

soon as he reached out.

He rubbed her hair and said, "You should probably go to bed."

When he touched Natalie, the electricity surged back through her, starting at the crown of her head and

moving throughout her entire body.

She felt a warm, tingling sensation spread throughout her body.

Twice that night, she had been "electrocuted."

"He always seems to make up for his hurtful behavior by being nice to me afterward." she thought.

Natalie blushed, still feeling like a whistle was blowing frantically inside her.

She turned around but was surprised to find that she could only move her eyes. She nodded her head

slowly to show that she was composed.

"Nighty-night!"

--

Maggie soon received a phone call from the brand with whom she collaborated.

They claimed that they would not be terminating the agreement, and what happened before was that

the contract manager had given them incorrect information by mistake. Their agreement would remain

in effect.

"That's all right. I'm relieved that this misunderstanding has been cleared up."

Maggie tried very hard to muster a cheerful expression.

After some contemplation, she hung up the phone and began to jump up and down in joy.

She realized her brother's decision meant she could continue acting.

"Well done, Natalie! I'm impressed by your ability to convince my brother! Since you can convince my Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

stubborn brother, you officially become my hero! "Maggie thought to herself.

Maggie's excitement was too much to bear, so she immediately called Natalie to express her gratitude.

Natalie softly said, "Your brother believes it is too dangerous for you to continue working in the

entertainment industry after seeing you being treated unfairly and nearly being injured. He wants you to

come back home, where you'll be safe and comfortable."

Maggie lamented, "That's not news to me. He has always been there for me and encouraged me. I

appreciate it very much, Natalie. You are amazing!"

"The entertainment industry is so complicated, so you must learn to protect yourself."

"I will. You're right, Natalie. Stella Oliver did do this. I've already reported it to the cops, and now I'm

going to sue her."

Natalie was a little taken aback.

"Kendrick suggested I do that."

When Maggie asked what he planned to do to deal with those two, Kendrick said he would sue them.

She then took his word for it.

Maggie said solemnly and firmly, "I figured it out. I cannot live the rest of my life hiding this secret."

Natalie agreed, saying, "You did the right thing."

Maggie asked, "Do I need to call Kendrick?"

Natalie thought to herself, "Who do you think I am? Do you want me to take care of all of your

choices?"

"Yes, but not until sometime after 5 pm. He's supposed to be in a meeting right now."

After hanging up the phone, Natalie took a deep breath and folded her arms.

She prayed silently, "Please, let everything be normal."

Yesterday, after compiling the data, Natalie emailed it to Owen.

From their first encounter that day on, she was taken aback by Owen's charm.

Besides his intelligence, she admired that he was unassuming and reserved.

That was a fantastic opportunity for Owen, while she had a knack for recognizing talent.

Once they succeeded, she would become a legend.

Natalie immediately stopped herself from thinking about it.

Owen emailed her a little later.

"Mr. Ramsey and I have an appointment this Friday at the rehab center. I've collected all of his

credentials and stored them in a shared cloud along with my initial strategy. You can take a look at it

anytime. I will talk further about it when I meet with Mr. Ramsey. I'd like to get his and his family's

approval before we take any further steps in this direction."

Owen gave Natalie access to the account password.

Natalie then immediately began reading the proposal.

That plan aligned with the broad outline she had provided before but with some significant detailed

modifications.

The state of medical science in this universe prevented her from implementing some of her ideas.

Now that she had a sense of the big picture, Natalie thought things were looking up.

She took a deep breath.

"It will get better. Everything will get better." She thought to herself.

--

Maggie called Kendrick after checking the time.

Kendrick's icy demeanor had previously made her wary of approaching him.

Maggie noticed that Kendrick had changed for the better since meeting Natalie, which made her willing

to talk to him more.

Maggie told Kendrick what Natalie had said to her.

"Kendrick, I knew you'd always be there for me, and I knew you were worried I'd be treated unfairly.

Don't you worry about it. I'll take care of myself and give my all at work. I promise I won't let you down."

A frown formed on Kendrick's face.

He hadn't set any expectations for her, which meant he wouldn't be disappointed.

"I know," he cut her off before she could continue.

Maggie added, "I'm going to sue Stella. Thank you for the advice."

Kendrick was totally on board with her decision.

In all seriousness, Kendrick asked, "You know you are responsible for Natalie's injury, right? Did you

apologize to her?"

Maggie nodded quickly, then shook her head, "I didn't seriously apologize to her."

"I'm going to see her right away," Maggie said as soon as she heard the silence.

"Bye. I'm leaving for a meeting."

Maggie pondered what gift she should get Natalie after Kendrick hung up the phone. She considered it

for a long time but still couldn't think of anything.

Besides, Maggie thought Natalie would prefer something other than what most girls loved.

In her opinion, a handbag or lipstick would be too unimaginative of a present for Natalie.

Sighing, she texted Kendrick, asking, "What kind of gift would Natalie like?"

Kendrick didn't reply immediately.

It took him about a half-hour to respond, but he only replied one word: "Me."
