Chapter 141 The Bracelet Is Lost
Natalie couldn't stay in the lounge to continue the search.
Owen was right.
If she dropped the bracelet in the lounge, she could come back to look for it later.
She would find it.
Natalie glanced at the clock.
It was four o'clock in the morning.
She grabbed the collar of her sweater and lifted it to cover half of her face, letting out a heavy sigh and
hurrying away to the ward.
Kendrick had a fever because of the wound.
Thankfully, his central nervous system was not infected.
Owen checked on Kendrick and said the problem was minor, suggesting they wait for the fever to
reduce naturally without any medication.
Natalie sat by the bed and held Kendrick's hand.
His palm was burning, and his face was red. He kept frowning at the pain without much consciousness
in the coma.
However, when Natalie held his hand, Kendrick seemed to respond to her.
Natalie buried her face in his palm and muttered softly, "You'll get better."
Owen came over and asked her to take a rest.
Natalie didn't want to leave.
"He's not out of danger." She said, "He might suffer postoperative complications. I feel safe when I stay
with him here."
Owen thought she was stubborn.
"Don't you care about your own health?" He unusually raised his voice. "I'll arrange for someone to look
after him. I'll stay here too."
Natalie didn't budge.
She said, "He needs me now."
Owen said calmly, "He won't wake up in a short while even if you're here. Moreover, you've just woken
up. Your condition doesn't allow you to exhaust yourself."
Natalie didn't say a word.
Owen turned to leave quietly. After a while, he came back with a glass of water and handed it to
Natalie. "Drink some water."
Natalie thanked him and drank the water.
She soon felt sleepy.
Her eyelids became heavy.
She couldn't help drifting off to sleep.
...
Owen finally managed to put Natalie on the sofa in the ward and let her take a good rest.
He instructed the nurses to observe Kendrick closely.
If there were any wound infections or other complications, they should report to him immediately.
Owen felt exhausted at this moment.
He went to the lounge and looked for the bracelet.
He almost overturned the sofas in the room, but he failed to find Natalie's bracelet.
Owen went to ask his assistants.
They said they didn't see the bracelet. Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
The two of them didn't enter the lounge.
Owen didn't know where the bracelet was.
He raised his hand and pressed his forehead with a disturbed look.
He thought the bracelet must be very important to Natalie.
She seemed to have cried just now.
Suddenly, Owen's phone rang.
He looked at the caller's name.
His heart skipped a beat, and he quickly answered the phone.
"I've arrived."
"Didn't you say you would come at the end of the month?"
"I came earlier. Let's meet tomorrow. I'll give you GM-1. I can't stay long here."
"Okay." Owen said gently and solemnly, "Mother, thank you!"
Brynn chuckled softly and said, "Owen, don't mention it. You're my son, and I'm willing to do anything
for you. Moreover, you haven't asked me for anything over the years. I'm hanging up. See you
tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow."
Brynn hung up the phone.
Owen suddenly felt relieved.
His mother had been reluctant to set foot in Hamgrad.
However, she made an exception for him and brought GM-1 back to Hamgrad in the name of academic
exchange.
...
Natalie slept through the night.
The nurse told her that Kendrick's fever was gone. He was in a stable condition. Nothing bad
happened.
That soothed Natalie.
Owen brought her breakfast. There was milk, eggs, and ravioli.
When he handed her the breakfast, Natalie slapped him on the shoulder.
She said sternly, "There was something wrong with the water you gave me."
Owen said calmly, "I didn't want to see you faint again."
Natalie was speechless.
The two of them sat on the sofa.
After Natalie drank a glass of milk, she asked in a low voice, "Haven't you found the bracelet yet?"
Owen shook his head.
Natalie sighed with a worried expression.
"I'm doomed. The bracelet was a gift from Kendrick. He asked me not to take it off." Natalie said with a
troubled look, "I not only took it off but also lost it. I can't think of any reason he won't get angry."
Owen was speechless.
After a while, he said, "Why don't you tell him the truth?"
Natalie took a deep look at Owen and said, "Why don't I tell him that I come from the M78 Nebula
instead of the Earth?"
Owen said, "You're scared out of your wits. You're talking nonsense."
He couldn't give any advice on this.
Since he met Natalie, everything had been developing beyond his imagination.
"I'll look for the bracelet first. If I can't find it, I'll see how I explain it to him."
Natalie was in a dilemma.
No matter how she explained it, it seemed not right even if she told the truth.
If she went to tell Kendrick that she was the one who performed the surgery on him, he might touch her
forehead and say, "Nat, What has got into you?"
Natalie scratched her head and decided to stay calm and see how things would go.
Owen comforted her, "Don't be upset. I have good news for you."
"What is it?"
"GM-1 has arrived smoothly, and I'll get it tonight."
Natalie abruptly rose from the chair and nearly spilled the milk.
Her heart suddenly ached.
Natalie clutched at her chest and sat down slowly, saying, "Owen, the abrupt mood swings from the
grief and joy almost stopped my heart from beating."
She thought she should take heart relievers with her from now on.
Owen got serious and didn't take her words as a joke. "Take care of yourself. Have a checkup. Don't
take it lightly."
After Natalie recovered from the heartache, she asked, "Is the arrival of GM-1 a secret?"
"It's confidential."
"I'll go with you."
Owen hesitated. His mother didn't want anyone but him to know that she had come to Hamgrad."
"I'll drive you there. I don't care who you are meeting." Natalie said, "It's very important, and I have to
make sure nothing unexpected will happen."
Owen agreed to her request.
The nurse came to report that Kendrick was gaining consciousness.
She guessed he would wake up soon.
After Natalie learned that, she quickly rose to go to the ward.
Under the remaining effect of anesthesia, Kendrick was swollen all over. He felt dizzy with the pain and
couldn't even open his eyes.
"Nat..."
Kendrick said her name with difficulty.
His voice was dry and hoarse as if his throat had been ground.
In his dreamy state, he felt someone hold his hands.
"I'm here."
Kendrick suddenly felt relieved.
Natalie had been with him all along.
Kendrick was too weak to see who was before his eyes, but he didn't want to let go of her hands.
He uttered something again.
His voice was too weak.
Natalie had to put her ear near his mouth to hear what he was saying.
"Don't go..."
At this moment, Kendrick showed Natalie his weakest side without a trace of intimidation and aloofness
that he used to treat the world with.
