Chapter 5: Night of the Party
Chapter 5: Night of the Party
The rest of the week passed like a daze. On the evening of the party, which was Friday, Spencer
caught up with me.
"Hey, what are you wearing tonight?", she asked curiously. " I hope you haven't forgotten about the Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
party", Spencer continues.
How on Earth could I forget? Spencer had made it her duty to remind me at least everyday following
this morning. Although I'm not very big on parties, I definitely remembered this one.
"I haven't decided on what to wear. I'll find something though", I shrug.
Spencer looks at me, as if I've been brainwashed. "Em, have you lost your brain?", she asked. Her
mouth was set wide open in the shape of an O.
I closed her mouth with my hand, telling her not to do that because she'll catch flies. "Why do you ask
that?"
"Because, Emerald Mickayla Stone, we are going to a party and Liam is going to be there. We can't go
there looking like nobody's. I know you aren't big on parties, but just do it this once. For me", she begs,
showcasing her puppy eyes.
"Fine!" Spencer squeals and jumps up and down like a child promised ice cream.
Before Spencer can say anything more, her mom pulls up.
"Shit, my mom's here!", Spencer curses. I mutter a quick prayer, thanking the God of luck.
Her mom honks continuously, causing her to run as fast as she can to her mom's jeep. Her mom
doesn't normally pick her up, because she works as a full time vet. I wonder what came up.
"Bye Emerald!", she calls over her shoulder. "Face time me when you get home."
I tell her that I will, and watch as her mom's jeep pulls out of the school yard.
I walk over to my own car, and climb in. I start up the engine and leave school.
After a few minutes, I pull up in our driveway and get out of our car. I open the front door, go inside and
lock it behind me.
It seems as if no one's home; Damion's at college, Sean is an accountant, and mom and Dad have
their own jewelry store downtown, as well as a coffee shop that is run by my childhood baby sitter,
Margaret.
I run up the stairs and the dark hallway. As soon as I reach my room, I open the door and go inside,
throwing my book bag on the floor. I kick off my shoes and climb up on my bed with my phone in my
hand. I check for new messages, and upon finding none, I decide to face time Spence.
The phone answers on the second ring, as it normally does. Spencer normally plugs in her earphones
in her phone, which always automatically answers calls.
"Spencer?", I say into the phone. No response.
The video looks as if her phone is in something moving up and down at a incredible speed.
"Spencer?" More running, no answer.
Just as I'm about to hang up, the moving stops. The screen shows a massive brown wolf with blood
dripping from its mouth. The area looks as if they are in the forest or somewhere with a lot of trees.
Is Spencer at a movie or something. I squint and look at the screen. That definitely looks real to me.
Are they chasing a wolf? But that wolf looks like a bigger than normal size wolf. I screen shot the image
and hang up the phone, my thoughts whirling around my brain like clothes in a washing machine.
I decide to stop thinking about it and go downstairs to get something to eat from the kitchen.
The image of the wolf with the bloody mouth flashes in my mind. I hope Spencer is okay.
I decide to eat some cereal. I turn on the TV, in hope that I'll find some thing good on Netflix.
My eye catches teen wolf, one of my favorite movies, and I click on it. The movie starts and I place the
remote on the couch, beside me.
Then a thought flashes though my mind. Maybe I can find out the creature. It looked almost identical to
a wolf, but there was something else about that wolf.
I let my curiosity get the better of me, and I ran upstairw to get my laptop. I open a new tab on Google
and began my search.
Within 2 seconds, I found what I was looking for. I saw a picture of a wolf, with almost the same size as
the one I saw on Spencer's phone. I clicked on the article as quickly as a could.
"Werewolves", the article read, "are mystical creatures with the ability to shift into a wolf, either
purposefully, or after being placed under a curse or affliction with the transformation occurring on the
night of a full moon."
The article explained that werewolves, had countless abilities, including Healing factors, immortality,
night vision, shape shifting,, super human endurance, super human senses, super human speed, and
countless others.
Was that one of the things I saw on Spencer's phone? I compared the picture I had, with the screen
shot I had. They were a match.
