Chapter 22
ZOYA’S POV
My head was banging. It felt like there was construction going on inside.
But nothing prepared me for what Abrar just said.
“You will sign the contract?” I asked, I was surprised that he was willing to do it. I thought it was a lost cause but he agreed to do it.
“Yes,” he replied.
He brought out the file from his briefcase and placed it on the table.
“Signed and done,” he said.
I opened the file to see that he really did sign the contract. He has agreed to be my contract husband.
“Well, seems like we will have to tell your father to begin the plans for the traditional wedding, and from what I know he would want it to be held as soon as possible,” he said.
“Yeah, uhm I think we should both tell him together,” I said, finally able to use my voice.
“Okay then I will be off to work” he replied, washing his dishes and placing them on the plate rack.
“Who undressed me yesterday?” I suddenly asked.
“Uhm, me” he replied looking baffled.
“Do you see my…my naked body?” I screamed in alarm.
“Well I did not look and aren’t we husband and wife” he replied nonchalantly like he did not just look through my naked body while I was unconscious.
“But it’s only a facade’ I yelled in disbelief.
“Whatever the name husband and wife are still present” he replied nonchalantly”. See you at work” he said grabbing his briefcase and walking out the door.
My head was a little bit fuzzy as I tried to calm myself down. He changed me and looked through my half-naked body.
I could read my chest with my arms as I imagined the memory, and he reacted like it was nothing.
I quickly prepared for work, but the thought of Anas made me shiver. It just felt crazy that he was now working in my father’s company, that coward who abandoned me and left me to face the wrath of my father alone.
In anticipation believe I was so stupid to trust him that I would just have to act like he does not exist but it also did not help that Abrar’s ex was also now working at the office.
“It feels like the reunion of the ex” I mumbled to myself as I unlocked the house and walked out.
I grabbed my keys and walked into my car driving down to work. There were a lot of things I had to attend to since I took quite some time off.
I walked into the office my mind still occupied with the fact that Abrar actually did go ahead with the plan and had decided to be my fake husband.
I looked over to his office area to see he was printing out some documents and then suddenly my view of his beautiful broad shoulders were cut off and it was none other than his ex. From my information her name was Nikhat and she was just a temporary worker for a project.
“What are you so busy looking at, can’t stop admiring your husband?” Alisha whispered into my ears.
“What? And. And you please step back, you are basically intruding” I said pushing her a few feet back while I also took a few steps back.
“Gosh you and your privacy, ” she said, rolling her eyes at me before slouching on the couch in my office.
Alisha was my friend, my childhood friend. She was practically one of my closest friends and she had been away for quite some time due to her honeymoon.
“Sonia he the one, the knight in shining armor who saved your reputation?” She looked raising her brows In a mocking manner.
Well out of all my friends, she was the only one aware that what Abrar and I had was a facade and that is because we did not keep any secrets from each other.
“Don’t mock me,” I said.
“What he looks hot, very pleasing to look at. See the office girls swooning over him even though they are well aware that he is married and taken” she said stretching her neck in other to get a better look at him.” Well, I don’t blame them while is hot” she added.
“Alisha” I scolded, she was such a tease and I knew with her being back I was going to be her new target.
“What? Was just saying” she said feigning ignorance.
“How was your trip?” I asked, referring to her honeymoon.
Alisha recently got married to the love of her life. They had been together since they were teenagers. Alisha basically had the perfect love story, not many girls get married for love.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
I was so desperate for love that I was stupid enough to think in oils and run away with Anas.
“It was fun but not as interesting as what is going on in your life because there is no way I saw Anas when I walked into the building. I tried getting a better look at him but he suddenly disappeared”
“Well you are not seeing things, Alisha he really is working here. I don’t know what games he is playing but I just find it absurd that he decides to work for my father’s company knowing fully well that it is my father’s company” I said in disgust.
Just the memory and thought of Anas made me shiver. He just made me feel uncomfortable.
“Have you spoken to him since the whole ordeal?” She asked, looking a little bit concerned.
“Well yes but I don’t want to talk about him, he is the past let’s leave him there” I replied.
“Okay then if you say so, now let’s talk about your present and future,” she said in a teasing tone. “How is our Mr. Abrar treating you? He looks like a gentleman. Has he agreed to the contract?” she whispers with a mischievous smile on her face.
“Why do I get the feeling that you are enjoying this?” I asked.
“That is because I am, your life basically feels like a drama right now and a very interesting one at that” she replied.
“Well good thing my life drama interests you,” I said sarcastically and she smiled happily in return.
“So has he?” She asked, eyes wide open with curiosity. I could not help but shake my head at her.
“Well he did, give me the signed contract,” I said, placing the signed contract on my table.
She jumped and squealed in excitement. I was totally surprised by her reaction.
“Oh my gosh, now you mean that hunk yours for a period of nine months?” She asked with a broad smile on her face.
“Keep your voice down. And he is not a hunk, be careful with your language ma’am you are now a married woman” I replied.
“Oh yes, I am now a married woman. I must behave in a composed manner, ” she said, adjusting herself while sitting down and I could not help but laugh at her.
One thing about Alisha is that she is anything but composed.
“Well I have to go, being a new wife Involves meeting the in-laws and well today is in-law day,” she said not looking too enthusiastic about it.
“Well you got this,” I said encouraging her.
“And Abrar, what about his family, have you met anyone?” She asked.
“No” I replied. Now that I think about it I don’t really know much about his family background except that he grew up in a pretty hard environment and lost his parents early. I don’t know if he is close to any of his family members. He will need his family to be present for the traditional wedding.
“Well, that is a conversation you both need to have. I will get going now, have a good day baby girl” she said, standing up and engulfing me in a tight unwanted hug.
“Okay that’s enough,” I said gently pushing her away from me.
“Gosh, you are now a married woman you need to stop with all this no-touching rule of yours. You better make sure that hunk is all over you” she teased.
“Alisha” I scolded, she was not one to know how to control her speech. ” And we are not real it all for a short period”
“One year is not short, dear,” she said before pecking at me once again and walking out of my office.
“Good day ma’am, Mr Ali has requested your presence in his office,” my secretary, Karina said. ” And Your husband is also there,” she added.
What could possibly warrant Abrar to go to my father’s office and also make them summon me as well?
Was it that he had finally told my father everything and he just signed the contract to get back at me? He could possibly do that.
I walked into my father’s office and the grim expression on his face followed by the solemn expression on Abrar’s face did not help calm my mind. I was thinking of all the possibilities that could have warranted this meeting.
“Good thing you are here Zoya, I have something very important to discuss with you,” he said, his tone sounding serious. This was the tone he used when he was either disappointed in me or wanted to scold me.
I looked over at Abrar and he refused to look at me, I had a bad feeling something was about to happen.
