Chapter 69_ Home sweet home 2
The rest of the few hours was spent driving around the city till nightfall, the black car pulled over in front of the tall hotel building..
Damien took a glance at his side to see the once lively and chirpy lady resting her head on his shoulder in deep slumber..
His idea to explore the city for a while paid off, he noticed she was a little bit free with him as of now, he suddenly chuckled..
It was crazy how life played tricks on people, the lady from that night six years ago happened to be the last lady he’d want anything to do with but he had no other choice than to change that mentality..
The driver turned back to face his boss who was intently peering at the sleeping lady..
“Boss we’ve –
Damien placed a finger to his lips to shut the lousy driver up, he didn’t want to wake her up from her sleep..
She looked tired and stressed out..
He held her head gently placing it back on the headrest, she moved a bit but didn’t open her eyes or wake up..
The car’s door opened as he stepped out walking to the other side of the car, he pried the door open and lifted her out gently from the car heading into the building..
They had a long flight tomorrow, so it’ll be best if they get enough rest..
He carried her in his arms all the way to their room..
Damien lay her gently on the bed like she was an egg he was afraid to drop, he pulled off her black heels placing them on the floor, he drew the duvet over her body…

The birds chirping by the balcony seemed to cause a disturbance to the lady tangled on the sheets of the bed..
Her amber eyes opened slowly, she peered at her surroundings before her gaze settled on a figure standing next to her staring at his wrist watch as if contemplating whether to wake her up or not..
Olivia sat up running her hand through her blonde hair that was all messed up, this should only be blamed on her abnormal way of sleeping at times..
“Good you’re up.. we’re leaving in the next twenty minutes.. go get ready”
Olivia’s jaw dropped, twenty minutes? but she didn’t have enough time to pack up last night? and how come she got back to the hotel? the last thing she recalled was when she was in the car..
“But I haven’t packed-
“I took care of that.. your outfit is over there… I’ll be waiting down for you”
She gave a nod and watched him turn around heading out of the room..
“Did he bring me up last night?” She pondered curiously..

Today was the said grand celebration the Sterling’s were holding today in the evening, every news channel was talking about today..
It’s been like this for years now, whenever any of the Sterling’s were hosting a party, it would automatically be the talk of the town for at two weeks..
They saw it as a day where all the elites and high class families in the society meet up to celebrate the old man’s new age..
Just like how things were in the Sterling’s ancestral home, everyone gathered around the table where a big cake sat with two candles on top of it..
Old Sterling was all smiles, by his side sat numerous wrapped boxes of gifts he received from his family..This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“Ahh.. do you think father would love this?”
Aldrin stared blankly at the enormous bouquet of white roses Anita was holding onto, the old man sure loved flowers especially if they were white roses..
Well, today was like every other years Anita competed with Tracy on who could get the best gift for Bernard..
He held onto the gift boxes he was struggling to hold going down the stairs, Anita had literally stayed up all night wrapping those gift boxes..
“Yeah I guess.. what are in these boxes? and why are they so heavy?”
Anita rolled her eyes at his dramatic tantrums, she walked slowly to the rest who were hovering over the large table showering the old man with gifts..
“Happy birthday Father” Anita screeched out with a wide grin on her face..
Alexa, Becky, Patricia and Asher all turned to the duo who were approaching them, Anita’s face was barely visible due to the white roses blocking her face..
Bernard’s smile froze on his face at the amount of roses Anita was holding..
“Thank you?”
And he thought he had seen it all until another screech filled the living room..
Tracy walked in with a single white rose smiling from ear to ear..
“Happy birthday Elder Sterling”
She handed the rose to him which he accepted skeptically..
Anita chuckled nudging Aldrin with her elbow “Look at that.. she’s so stingy to get him a nice gift.. she got father a single rose”
In as much as Aldrin wanted to laugh so much at what his wife just pointed out to him, he couldn’t..
Why??
Ten men in black all strode into the living room right behind Tracy, five out of them had white roses each, times two bigger than the ones Anita was currently holding..
While the other Five had four medium sized boxes each of wrapped up gifts..
Tracy met Anita’s cold glare with a mocking smile, she settled her gaze back at the old man..
“Please accept this on behalf of the Brown’s.. we wish you a joy filled occasion”
Aldrin took a glance at his side, good gracious! she was fuming which wasn’t a good thing..
Tracy collected one of the bouquet from one of the men and stretched it forward to Old Sterling who was about to accept it, but Anita was faster, in a flash, she shoved Tracy aside and handed her own bouquet to her father-in-law..
“What the-
Anita turned back to her feigning a sorry expression “I’m really sorry.. I didn’t mean to push you, but as you can see.. his hands are pretty occupied.. please hand the roses over to one of the servants to take it away.. and thank you for your act of kindness”
Tracy forced a tight smile at her, she tolerated this ill treatment all because Aldrin and his father were present, otherwise, she’ll have taught the proud lady a lesson or two..
“It’s okay Anita.. I don’t mind” she gritted out through clenched teeth..
Aldrin placed the gift boxes next to his dad who was seated in front of the table..
“Well I guess we have to blow out the candles.. and dad don’t forget to make a wish”
Bernard and the rest had a good laugh at his words, well except for two ladies who were glaring at each other..
They sang the famous birthday theme song with smiles on their face, Bernard blew out the candles after making his supposed wish..
Then another contest came between the two women on who would be the first to feed the old man the first bite of the cake..
The smiles on everyone’s face died down as the two women cut out a piece of cake and both shoved it into Bernard’s mouth at the same time..
“Should we clap or walk away?” Becky whispered to Aldrin to see the latter shrug..
