Chapter 99: I Like to Be Here
There was the fragrance of flowers in the evening breeze. It was not until Shiyao walked out of the hotel that she came to notice the hotel was surrounded by beautiful flowers and grass. There were few people here, and Shiyao hadn’t seen anyone else till now apart from the staff of the hotel. It was OK. Shiyao preferred the quiet atmosphere here.
“We should have taken Duoduo along with us.” Walking with Shiyao hand in hand on a path, You Ze said suddenly.
“Yes. Duoduo will like the place for sure!” Shiyao bounced around like a naughty child, while You Ze held her hand tightly like a strict parent.
“Don’t!”
Just as Shiyao tried to touch the flowers by the path, You Ze stopped her in a harsh voice.
“Don’t touch any unfamiliar plant. Most of them here are wild. It might be dangerous.” Fixing Shiyao’s hat carefully, You Ze explained softly at once for fear that his warning had frightened Shiyao.
Shiyao showed that she understood his concern. She stopped running about and closely followed You Ze.
They kept walking for about 5 minutes, and in front of them was a broad landscape.
“Here we are.”
A tall manor stood in front of Shiyao, whose European style gave Shiyao the illusion of being in a foreign country. Vines just spread over the walls with colorful flowers embellishing them. There were even dense flowers on both sides of the bright red gate.
You Ze took a key out of nowhere and opened the gate. Shiyao stepped in carefully.
The inside of the manor was like a world in fairy tales which only existed in her wild imagination. There were dining tables in the open air, hanging beds with flowers, and even swings made of vines. Birds were chirping continuously over their heads. Shiyao kept walking for over 20 minutes until she got to the other end of the manor.
There was a clean and transparent man-made lake a few hundred meters away from the gate of this side. The lake faintly reflected golden light in the setting sun. It was large, and Shiyao even didn’t catch sight of the other end of it. The dark-blue lake and the colorful manor were two completely different worlds, but both of them perfectly presented the fantasy world in Shiyao’s heart.
Shiyao wanted to say something, but didn’t at last. She, lost in a trance, had to pat herself on the cheeks to check whether she was in a dream or not.
Looking as if he had expected Shiyao’s reaction, You Ze followed Shiyao silently all along to witness the girl’s surprised expressions. As long as Shiyao could be happy, everything he had done was worthwhile.
“Is it a wonderland?” Taking off her hat, Shiyao turned around, and spoke to You Ze smilingly with a trembling voice. The setting sun cast a light behind Shiyao. You Ze couldn’t see her face clearly, but he seemed to see a fairy.
You Ze wore a beige shirt. He was tall, and his hair touched the petals casually. His figure looked so tempting with his shirt untidily buttoned.
Fascinated by Yu Ze’s smile, Shiyao walked to him subconsciously, and held his neck to kiss his lips affectionately.
It was indeed a wonderland which had been picked out by You Ze carefully. You Ze had designed every single place of the manor in person, including the hotel’s layout. There were many other interesting places here, and You Ze intended to introduce them to Shiyao one by one.
You Ze still remembered every story his mom told him when he was a child. Mom had described the fairyland vividly.
When You Ze got enough wealth, he created this fairyland at once. What satisfied him most was that Shiyao liked this place very much.
“I like it.” Shiyao pressed herself against You Ze’s chest with her face flushed.
“Then we can stay here for a few more days.”
There was a counter and sofas in the manor. Snuggling in the sofa, the two were enjoying some cakes and pastries. You Ze told Shiyao the origin of the manor at the same time.
“A’ze, your mom must be very beautiful.”
Shiyao sighed with emotion the woman who could share such a dreamy story must be a great beauty.
“Yes, she is beautiful, and tender as well. Actually she is the best woman I’ve met.”
You Ze’s mom was a very famous lady from a respectable family at that time, while You Ze’s father was from a family with military-political background. They had been congenial with each other for many years, and they would have loved each other much more if someone hadn’t driven a wedge between them
Thinking of the bitter experiences of his parents, You Ze turned gloomy immediately.
You Ze walked to the wall alone, smoking a cigarette silently. Shiyao looked at You Ze’s action in confusion, but she didn’t follow up. Although she had no idea why You Ze changed so suddenly, her instinct told her that she had better not disturb him now.
When the sun completely went down, the moon rose quietly into the sky. The long thread of lights through the flowers were lit up at the same time. Shiyao raised her head, and it looked as if the starry sky was close enough to touch. She reached out her arms softly, and a gust of cold wind accompanied by the sound of falling petals blowed her sleeves, and she kept sneezing.
Having finished the last cigarette, You Ze put the butts in a bag and threw it into the dustbin. There were blankets prepared in advance at the counter, and You Ze took out one to wrap Shiyao, and held her into his arms tightly.
There was a whiff of cigarette and Shiyao never liked someone who smoked. You Ze rarely smoked at ordinary times, and it was the first time for Shiyao to see him smoke. Unexpectedly, Shiyao was not repelled by the smell, and she liked this kind of feeling instead.
“Let’s take a picture!”
An idea flashed through Shiyao’s mind. She took out her phone and handed it to You Ze.
“You take my picture first, and I’ll take yours later. Hurry!” Having put down the blanket, Shiyao went to sit on a swing, straightened her clothes, and then made a perfect pose.
You Ze stroked Shiyao’s hair affectionately. He adjusted his angle and took her picture.
Looking at the girl on the screen with satisfaction, Shiyao couldn’t help praising him.
“Wow, I’ve never thought you could be so skilled!”
You Ze shook his head with pride, “Of course. Your husband is a perfect man!”
You Ze’s exaggeration made Shiyao laugh. She couldn’t see any sign of his gloomy mood just now.
“Come here. Let me take yours!” Shiyao patted the swing excitedly, signaling You Ze to sit on it.NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
You Ze walked up behind Shiyao, but he didn’t hand the phone to her. Instead, he took a selfie of them two.
Shiyao made a face at You Ze mischievously, which happened to be captured by the camera lens.
Having accompanied Xu Youyou to finish dinner, Zhong Yi stayed by Xu Youyou on the sofa. They watched TV with different thoughts in their minds. Zhong Yi didn’t allow Xu Youyou to play with her phone, so she had to keep pressing the remote control of the TV in boredom.
“Oh, my god!” Zhong Yi jumped up suddenly as if he had been stimulated, which frightened Xu Youyou a lot.
“What’s wrong with you?” Xu Youyou was getting more and more irritable, and he might irritate her at any time.
“Sorry, my wife. I didn’t mean it.” Zhong Yi bowed to beg for forgiveness pathetically.
Xu Youyou got speechless. She had emphasized it many times, warning Zhong Yi not to call her “wife”, but Zhong Yi always called her this way when there was no one else around.
