Chapter 79: Strange Atmosphere
“My bro invited me over for dinner, any questions?”
Xu Youyou frowned and stared wide-eyed at Zhong Yi. She knew that he was close to You Ze, but what she didn’t expect was that You Ze would invite him.
“Oh…”
“Let’s go, sir.” Zhong Yi winked at the driver. It was very thoughtful of his bro to send a driver over. He intentionally moved closer to Xu Youyou, who leaned awkwardly against the window.
“There’s so much space over there, can you move aside?”
Xu Youyou thrust Zhong Yi away angrily.
“Ahem…” Zhong Yi coughed awkwardly, which caused the driver to burst out laughing.
“Master Zhong, your girlfriend is so funny.”
“No, sir, I’m not…” Xu Youyou quickly explained to the driver.
“Oh, no need to explain. I understand. I’ve been there!” said the driver. Xu Youyou blushed and continued to explain incoherently, only to be pulled into Zhong Yi’s embrace.
“Just listen to the driver and be quiet.”
Hardly had he finished the words when Xu Youyou stepped on his foot with high heels, which hurt so much that he was speechless with a pale face.
“Can you shut up now?”
From then on, Zhong Yi was very quiet. Upon arriving at the destination, Xu Youyou got out of the car and grabbed him.
“Can I talk to you for a second?”
“Go ahead,” Zhong Yi was docile, without flinging her arm away.
Xu Youyou took a deep breath and said gravely,
“Watch your mouth later. I don’t want Yaoyao to know our relationship.”
Xu Youyou never thought Zhong Yi would come today. What if he ruined today’s meeting?
“Didn’t you say there’s nothing between us? What are you afraid of?” Zhong Yi deliberately asked back in a louder voice.
“You!” Xu Youyou was choked with rage, pointing at Zhong Yi.
“Okay, I got it,” said Zhong Yi flatly. “I’m here for my bro, not to gossip.” He turned and went into the house. Xu Youyou quickly followed him in.
Shiyao and You Ze had been here for half an hour, during which she either looked out of the window or sat down to flip through her phone.
You Ze saw out of the corner of his eye the restless look of Shiyao, puzzled by her strange behavior.
Shiyao glared back at him disapprovingly. Of course he couldn’t understand her feeling. Not having seen each other for more than half a month, Shiyao suddenly faced Xu Youyou as a married woman, which made her very nervous.
“Hi, there.”
Zhong Yi stormed in, greeting everyone.
“Eh?” Shiyao turned to You Ze in bewilderment as she saw Shiyao after Zhong Yi. You Ze shrugged, indicating that he didn’t know what was going on.
“You guys come together?”
Shiyao flung herself into Xu Youyou’s arms, rubbing her face against the latter’s shoulder lovingly. Somewhat taller than Shiyao, Xu Youyou held Shiyao up and spun her around twice.

‘Is she crazy? It’s too dangerous to do this in pregnancy!’ It seemed that he had to teach her something before pursuing her.
You Ze also looked at the two excited women with astonishment, for he had never seen women greet each other like this.
“How’s your leg, dear?”
Xu Youyou looked at Shiyao from head to toe, finally sure that she was in good health and only looked a little chubby.
“Don’t worry, I’m fine!”
To prove what she said, Shiyao jumped up lightly, and You Ze, terrified, pressed her down on the seat.
Shiyao guiltily stuck out her tongue, and avoided You Ze’s gloomy face.
Xu Youyou sat beside Shiyao with a smile, and cleared her throat.
Shiyao kept shaking You Ze’s hand to please him, which softened his expression.
“Hey, can we just enjoy the meal? There are single people here!”
Zhong Yi pretended to thump the table in protest. Shiyao lowered her head bashfully.
“None of your business! Get out if you don’t like it!”
Xu Youyou rolled her eyes. Zhong Yi opened his mouth but said nothing, only pouring himself a drink.
“Youyou…”
Shiyao shook Xu Youyou’s arm, and then showed Zhong Yi an apologetic look.
“Now that everyone is here, let them dish up.”
The waiters came in and served the dishes one by one. Xu Youyou saw that they were all her favorites, which Shiyao specially ordered for her, and excitedly hugged Shiyao for a kiss.
‘That’s my girl. She knows me best!’
However, Zhong Yi pulled a long face, ‘Are there crabs? Does this woman really want to die?’
“Nobody knows me like you.”
Xu Youyou took the chopsticks and looked around. Unexpectedly, Zhong Yi placed a plate of crabs in front of himself regardless of the shocked eyes of the other three people.
Xu Youyou’s mouth twitched, ‘What’s he doing? Afraid of me eating the wrong food? I’m not a fool.’
Shiyao looked at You Ze, confused. Then You Ze whispered something in her ear that made her more speechless.
“He has a lot of weird habits. Please don’t mind.”
Since Xu Youyou seemed unaffected, Shiyao said nothing.
“Here’s to you, Youyou,”
With the permission of You Ze, Shiyao took a small glass of wine and apologized to Xu Youyou.
“You’re my best friend. I can’t bear seeing you angry with me. You are always on my mind.”
You Ze frowned discontentedly, ‘What the hell does it mean? What about me?’
“I shouldn’t have kept things from you. We promised to be best friends forever, no backing out. Thank you for not being mad at me.”
With that, Shiyao finished it in one gulp. Xu Youyou smiled broadly and poured herself a drink. As soon as she raised her glass, it was snatched away by Zhong Yi.
Shiyao watched in shock Zhong Yi pick the glass up and empty it. You Ze smiled awkwardly, unable to find a reason to explain for him.
“What are you doing, Zhong Yi?”
Shiyao glared at Zhong Yi, discontented that he disturbed her intimate moments with Xu Youyou.
Looking down at her belly, Xu Youyou instantly understood why Zhong Yi came here today.
“Forget about it, Yaoyao, I’m not feeling well today. Let’s use water to toast our lasting friendship!”
Shiyao was soon distracted by Xu Youyou. They ate and talked with laughter, and fed each other sometimes, forgetting completely that there were two men beside them.
Zhong Yi never thought that Xu Youyou had such a gentle side. In his eyes, she was cold and unapproachable; unexpectedly she doted so much on Shiyao.
Shiyao was a little girl, quick-witted but less rational than Xu Youyou. Except when they were playing together, Xu Youyou was like an elder sister pampering her.
You Ze drank with Zhong Yi and watched the two girls laughing and joking, quite satisfied. He decided to try harder to make Shiyao laugh so happily every day.
