Chapter 29 What is Your Relationship with Him? 

Teste didn’t explain herself. She sounded urgent as she said, “Chase, I’ll meet you at the court in an hour. I don’t want to wait any longer. Let’s get a divorce.” 

She put on some makeup to make herself look healthy. 

It was snowing heavily outside, so she wrapped herself up warmly. 

The body’s mechanisms would normally deteriorate after chemotherapy. So her Simune system was weakened from the session she underwent. 

She would need to perform a blood test every two days to monitor the red and white blood cell levels. She would be prescribed medications if the index was not looking good.

She noticed that her hair was thinning at the back of her head, so she put on a 

ick snowcap. 

John didn’t agree with her intention of going out. He said, “Jessie, you are not in the condition to go out. The blood test we did yesterday showed that your index is not good. I am your doctor, so I am responsible for your health.” 

Jessie begged him with her red eyes, “John, nobody would want to see their exes looking pathetic. I just want to settle everything while I am still looking okay.” 

John thought of the pillow that she hid under the blanket and let out a sigh. “Make sure you don’t catch a cold.” 

“It was just a divorce procedure. It won’t take long.” 

“I’ll bring you there.” 

Jessie didn’t say no this time around. She just wanted to get a divorce as soon as possible. 

She went through her messages on the way to the court. There was a message from Olivia. Her ex–boyfriend was coming over to win her back and even made a scene at her workplace. So she took a long leave to go overseas and avoid him. No 

wonder she has been quiet these few dave

She didn’t expect to see messages sent from Chase. But there were a lot of them. Some of them were even threatening to harm her father if she didn’t reply. 

Jessie concluded that all these messages were because he was eager to file for divorce. She didn’t reply to the messages because she would be able to fulfil his wish very soon. 

Dave, the private investigator, was doing his job excellently and sent her the file of information she required. 

It was clear from the information collected that Peter and Andrea had something going on. One–third of his time in a month was spent with her. There was even CCTV footage where he went over to her apartment and only left the next day. 

He even helped her a lot financially. She even had a luxury car under her name. 

Jessie was uneasy about what she found out. All these had far exceeded the limit of a sponsorship. 

A wealthy middle–aged man displaying such affection towards a young woman whose age could be his daughter suggested an abnormal relationship.

But Andrea had died, and her father was in a coma. So Jessie could only deduce that they were lovers. 

If they were lovers, her father was always tolerant and forgiving; he wouldn’t have hurt her. Furthermore, Andrea was so much younger than he was that he wouldn’t be able to bring himself to do so.

Dave was able to find out such useful information in just three days. He must be very good. Jessie then paid him a sum of money to get him to investigate the cause of Andrea’s death.

Jessie’s head was spinning after staring at her phone for quite some time. The CCTV footage was lingering in her head. 

She was sure that her father was a decent man before seeing the footage. But after seeing them, she was not sure anymore. 

The city was covered with snow. Everything looked so white and pure. But what lay underneath the pure image were the dark secrets and truth. 

John parked his car by the roadside and got down to help Jessie open the car door. 

Jessie’s condition was just a tinge better than the previous three days. So he had to pay extra attention to her. 

“Be careful. Walk slowly. It’s slippery; make sure not to slip and fall.” 

Jessie chuckled lightly at what he said. 

“John, relax. I’ll be careful. I want to live more than anybody else wants to.” 

She would not die before finding out the truth.” 

She let go of his hands. She met the eyes of the man in the black car as she turned around. 

Chase was intensely glaring at their hands. The look in his eyes was so cold, and it made her shiver.
