Jessie withdrew her hand, a sense of desolation settling within her. It was Linda before, and now Chase, both finding joy in demeaning her.

They seemed perfectly suited to each other.

“Chase! Regardless of your stance on divorce, this money belongs to me by right. You shouldn’t demean me in this manner!

“Furthermore, the mere idea of your lips, which have grazed other women’s, touching mine fills me with disgust!”

Chase’s expression turned into a mask of darkness.upon hearing her words.

Gripping Jessie’s face firmly, he spoke with a harsh edge, “Feeling disgust? Jessie, you’re growing increasingly stubborn. Let’s see just how disgusted you can become!”

Ignoring her attempts to resist, he seized her head forcefully and pressed his lips onto hers, disregarding her pallid complexion.

Chase’s kiss exuded dominance and intensity, reflecting his persona in a way that made resistance futile.

Once, Jessie might have welcomed such a kiss, enjoying his assertiveness. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

But now, she truly resisted, even feeling nauseated!

Struggling with stomach cancer, Jessie had been managing to suppress the nauseating sensation churning in her stomach. However, triggered by Chase’s aggressive kiss, she found herself unable to contain it any longer, and the stomach. acid surged up her throat…

“Ugh!”

With a swift motion, Chase forcefully shoved her aside, his expression twisted in extreme displeasure.

His upper garments were now soaked in Jessie’s vomit, worsening his already sour

mood.

anticipated her reaction of actually vomiting. Did he genuinely repel her to such an extreme degree?

Watching Jessie still hunched over, struggling with nausea, Chase took a deep breath, suppressing the anger bubbling within him. He retrieved his clothing from the floor and prepared to leave.

“Chase… wait… “Jessie weakly murmured.

Chase paused, his tone icy as he retorted, “If you’re after money, meet me at the riverbank!”

With that, he turned and left without a second glance, looking thoroughly disheveled.

By the time Jessie regained her composure, Chase had already left the room.

Jessie…

Celia’s expression was one of perplexity, her voice trailing off into silence.

She had just observed Chase hurrying out of the room, emitting a strange odor. He hadn’t bothered to look back as he departed.

Celia had considered stopping him briefly, but his grim expression was too intimidating, preventing her from gathering the courage to do so.

Approaching from behind, Linda fixed her gaze on Jessie and asked, “What happened between you and Chase in the room?”

“It’s none of your business!” Jessie replied nonchalantly.

Linda gritted her teeth. “Jessie, remember, this is my house!”

“Indeed, this is your house,” Jessie chuckled, a hint of self–deprecation in her tone. “Not only does this house belong to you, but it seems my mom has embraced you as her own, and my husband, he now seems to be yours as well! Linda, do you desire my life so fervently?”

After finishing her remark, she paid no heed to Linda’s disgruntled countenance and left the house. She hadn’t even received her money yet.

The riverbank extended into the distance, with Chase didn’t provide an exact

location. However, she was familiar with its whereabouts.

It was the spot they had often met before.

When Jessie arrived, she found Chase standing by the car, hands in pockets, leaning against the door. His gaze was fixed on the river in the distance.

As the river breeze tousled her hair, it added to the desolation already evident her tired countenance. Chase instinctively moved to tuck her hair behind her but quickly restrained himselt, suppressing the impulse.

Jessie stared at him with an icy gaze as if trying to decipher his expression.

“Are you connected to the Summers family’s bankruptcy?”

She asked directly, and he responded with even more certainty.

Advancing two steps, she raised her hand and was about to deliver a resounding slap across his face as she screamed. “Chase, you’re utterly despicable!”

He effortlessly caught her wrist, his hand brushing against the tears on her cheek “Does it hurt?”

“You heartless man, why are you treating me like this? What has my family done deserve such treatment from you?”

Under Chase’s long lashes, his indifferent gaze was cold and merciless, his voice laced with icy disdain. “If you seek answers, perhaps you should return and inquir about your dad’s deeds.

Struggling to hold back her tears, she asked, “Chase, did you ever really care about me?”

His eyes, deep and void of sentiment, met hers as he spoke, his voice deliberate. “No, from the beginning, you were merely a piece on my board.”

Tears cascaded down Jessie’s cheeks, landing softly on the back of his hand. With the gust of the chilly wind, the warmth of the moment abruptly turned to frost.

“Do you hate me?”

“Yes, this is the debt owed by your family. Because you’re Peter’s daughter, I want you to endure daily torment, to pay for what my sister suffered!”
