There was a bright moon but only sparse stars in the sky. The moonlight spilled through the French window from the outside shining on the floor of the villa and casting a faint shadow.
Blanca was holding her phone, frowning deeply.
Early in the day, Matthew finally told her the truth. It turned out that the pendant belonged to his teacher Ernest Butler…
“Oh… Mrs. Grant, why did you leave the lights off? What are you doing in the dark?”
Mrs. Brown was out and just arrived home with a basket in her hand. She was at the supermarket getting vegetables and other ingredients for breakfast tomorrow. She thought there was no one home seeing there were no lights on!
“You are back, Mrs. Brown.” Blanca put down her phone and put on a smile. She acted as if she was looking at something great and got in closer. Mrs. Brown felt flattered, “Oh, Mrs. Grant. You seem so happy, any good news today?”
“Haha, I am happy every day, aren’t I?” Blanca was grinning. She held Mrs. Brown and both of them sat down on the couch.
Matthew had to work overtime tonight and he assumed it would be a late-night so he specially asked Curtis to escort Blanca home.
As soon as she came home, she looked up news and information about Ernest Butler online. However, Ernest Butler seemed very mysterious and Blanca couldn’t find anything in the end.
That was why…
That Blanca was hoping Mrs. Brown would know something helpful.
She was serving drinks and giving Mrs. Brown a massage on her shoulders, which took Mrs. Brown by fright. Mrs. Brown was almost tearing up in fear and she was trying to turn Blanca down with her offerings. Blanca was showing a triumphant foxy smirk on her face when Mrs. Brown promised to tell her everything she knew.
“… Ernest Butler? Mrs. Grant, why would you like to learn about him all of a sudden…” Mentioning Ernest Butler, Mrs. Brown’s facial expression changed.
Blanca cautiously caught that different look on Mrs. Brown’s face, and she got even more skeptical.
If Blanca’s assumption was right, then Ernest Butler must be related to her.
“Mrs. Brown, can you please tell me more?” Blanca kept shaking Mrs. Brown’s arm. Mrs. Brown couldn’t bear the swaying anymore. She finally agreed and slowly explained, “Mr. Butler was Mr. Grant’s mentor when he was little. This was a long story. After old Mrs. Grant passed away, Mr. Grant’s personality became more withdrawn. At that time, he was quite interested in jade, so Old Mr. Grant found him a teacher to teach him about that. That teacher was Mr. Ernest Butler. I heard that Mr. Butler has made great achievements in the jade industry, however, it’s been forever since he retired.”
Blanca’s eyes widened as she listened to Mrs. Brown’s narration.
Blanca’s heart was racing so fast.
That being said, the pendant on her neck might be the work by this legendary Mr. Butler.
“Mrs. Grant, what’s the matter?”
“No, nothing. Did you happen to know of Mr. Butler’s address?” Blanca asked nervously.
As long as she had his address, she would be able to go over there and ask him on her own and possibly figure out what had happened…
At this time, in Blanca’s mind, she had already begun to develop various versions of imagination, including that her grandmother and Mr. Butler might be a couple once, but for some reason, they had to flee; maybe that her parents were still alive somewhere in the world, right here in the Butler family…
