Chapter 88 What She Wanted
Blanca was so close to talking Peter into teaching her, but Curtis showed up all of a sudden and interrupted them.
She glanced at him with resentment, and Curtis shivered.
“Mhm… Mrs. Grant, Mr. Grant sent me to remind you that it’s time to return and that you shouldn’t forget… about what you wanted to do.” Curtis said cautiously.
You jerk, Matthew!
What else could you do other than threaten me with the matter of my pendant?
On the thought of that, Blanca didn’t catch the opportunity – Peter had already picked up his drawing board and run away. Blanca had to follow Curtis back, with her head looking down in disappointment.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
In the meantime, Matthew was so busy in the office while Blanca was bored and idling around.
She wished that handsome young man Peter would teach her how to paint…
Blanca was thinking so, holding her chin with her hand helplessly. Matthew had been out for two hours because he needed to attend a meeting with the board of directors. She was browsing all over on her Twitter and Instagram, and she ran out of things to do.
“Buzz…”
The phone suddenly started ringing and Blanca was taken aback by the ringtone. It made her sleepiness go away. She had her ears up – She realized that the sound was coming from Matthew’s desk.
Wait a second.
Why didn’t he bring his cell phone?
Blanca held the phone up and was about to wait for it to hang up. On the other hand, she was assuming whoever had Matthew’s phone number and was calling now must be for something important. What if it was his business partners? Should she take it for him?
The same number was calling again. Blanca hesitated for a second and picked it up anyways.
“Mr. Grant, we are calling to report to you about what you sent us to investigate. Mrs. Grant did show up together with her grandmother back then. We’ve visited a few people and asked around. People said that her grandmother always kept her mouth shut and never talked about their past. Nobody really knows where Mrs. Grant has come from.”
“…”
“Mr. Grant, are you still on the phone? We’ve found Mrs. Grant’s old neighbors, which would possibly help us find pictures of her grandmother. We will dig a little deeper…”
An unfamiliar male voice came over the phone, and listening to his words, Blanca had goosebumps all over her body.
She held the phone dumbly and even forgot to answer.
Perhaps they were wondering why the call got through but no one spoke, the person on the other side of the phone said a few “Hello”s and they hung up eventually. Blanca was holding the phone, but her body was shivering.
This caught her off guard and she wasn’t sure whether she should cry or laugh.
What was happening now?
So Louise wasn’t lying, and Matthew was indeed running an investigation on her…
But why did Matthew investigate her?
Was he worried that she was sent by someone for his money, or did he fear she was from a suspicious background? Or perhaps Matthew investigated whoever approached him…
But back then it was Matthew who asked her to marry him. If he didn’t trust herself, why didn’t he bring it up and talk about it with her?
“Blanca, who gave you permission to touch my phone?”
Suddenly, Blanca heard a familiar voice. It was profound and it sounded pretty much like a beautiful cello. Blanca looked at the phone in her hand feeling a little shocked. She then realized she was still holding Matthew’s phone.
She gave him a sneering smile and responded in a complicated mood, “Sorry, I should not have touched your stuff.”
“What was it?” Matthew frowned.
Was it his delusion?
Blanca seemed a bit different right now in front of him.
She handed the phone into his hand, her fingers reached his palm, and her eyes started watering up. She held her head up immediately trying to hold her tears back. She was trying to force a calm and relaxed smile, “Matthew, let’s have an honest talk with each other.”
