Mr Grant, Please Be Gentle

Chapter 25 How Do You Want to Resolve It?

Blanca pouted. “I don’t care about your preference. Having coffee right after eating upsets your stomach. It’s best to drink coffee half an hour after a meal. Give you energy and helps with digestion too.”

As he listened to Blanca spouting folk knowledge about coffee, Matthew felt a surge of warmth, and renewed interest in Blanca.

He knew all that already and had just wanted to shoo Lisa away instead of explaining too much. He hadn’t expected his wife to teach him a lesson.

“All right, then wait half an hour, Lisa.” Matthew smiled, and his eyes seemingly only focused on Blanca. Only at the very end when he said “Lisa” did he shoot a fleeting glance at the secretary.

Clenching her fist, Lisa took a deep breath and said respectfully, “Yes, Mr. Grant.”

“Oh, and Anderson?”

Lisa was turning again when Blanca called out at her.

“I’m not Miss Roach, I’m Mrs. Grant. Please call me that from now on.” And then she smiled at Lisa.

“…of course.”

Face dark, Lisa stalked out of the office.

Blanca set away her expression and complained to Matthew, “You’re worrying me, Mr. Grant.”

“…” Matthew’s face registered confusion. What, was the timing of his coffee habits making his wife this anxious?

“I always wait half an hour before I drink coffee, actually.”

“I’m not talking about coffee!” Blanca sat back on the sofa, looking at Matthew seriously.

“Since we’re friends, here’s a friendly reminder. That secretary Anderson of yours is indeed quite something.”

Matthew looked at her, somewhat interested. “What, because she didn’t admit you are my … wife?”

His gaze was flirtatious, and the two were so close that Blanca’s brain short-circuited for an instant looking at the fine face before her.Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

And why was he calling her his “wife” always with such a teasing flair…

Sure, she actually was his wife, but again, it was a deal, wasn’t it? They didn’t need to call each other that in private at all.

“No, that’s not it.” Blanca inched backwards.

Matthew, though, inched forwards irresistibly. “Were you jealous back there?”

Jealous?!

Blanca laughed. “How could I be! What would I be jealous for in the first place? I’m just worried for you. You men get your heads overheated whenever you see pretty women. With how much of a looker that secretary of yours is, I’m afraid it’ll affect your daily decision-making.”

“You don’t need to worry about that. She might be my secretary, but she’s only responsible for making phone calls and isn’t involved in decision-making of any sort. Curtis handles my personal affairs.”

Blanca nodded thoughtfully. If that was the case, she really didn’t have anything to worry about.

Hang on, why did he explain it so clearly like she was actually jealous?!

“I don’t care if your secretaries are men or women.”

“I’ve got it.” A smile in his eyes, Matthew suddenly leant close and kissed her swiftly on the cheek.

Blanca froze, her face bursting with red.

“Uh … you…”

“Hmm? It’s not enough?” Matthew pecked her on the other cheek.
