CHAPTER 30: Love on Top

– LIA –

THAT NIGHT, Kelleon, didn’t leave my side. He kept on asking me if I felt fine or if I needed something. I just told him that I’m okay and he has nothing to worry about.

A day passed after that revelation, and I can’t still get over it. Doctor Caalim’s words kept on echoing in my head. It’s like a malfunctioning speaker who repeats the same thing over and over again.

It somehow made my mood down. Although I’m already sure that Denisse copied my face, I still don’t have any idea why she did it. However, Kelleon said that he knew why, but he wouldn’t tell me until they captured Denisse.

I’m itching for answers, but I told him that I trust him. I just need to hold myself for now.

“Mi amor?” Kelleon’s voice turned me back to reality. I blinked my eyes several times as I was turning my head towards him.

“Hmm?” I asked.

He walked beside me and carressed my hair. “You’re spacing out. I’ve been calling you since earlier,” he said as he sat down beside me.

“Oh,” I reacted. “I didn’t hear you. Sorry.”

He sighed and touched my face gently. “What’s going on in the pretty head of yours, mi amor? It seems like it made you sad,” he responded.

I shook my head. “It’s nothing. You don’t have to worry about me.”

He sighed again and pursed his lips. “Are you sure?”

I nodded. “Yes, I’m very sure.”

“Then why are you stabbing your chicken? Your glass is also upside-down.”

Because of that, I looked at the table. I realized that he was right. The chicken breast he served is now full of mini-holes because I poked them with the fork. I turned my sight to the glass and it was really upside-down. Thankfully, I didn’t pour water in it.

“Ah, eh,” I couldn’t think of an excuse. I pursed my lips as I thought of an answer that he would buy.

“Mi amor,” he called me sweetly. “I know what’s bothering you. You can always talk to me, okay? I don’t want you to carry all of those heavy feelings.”

He was carressing my face while comforting me. His gentle words and touch made me cry immediately.  The frustrations and tears that I have been holding back since yesterday were all poured in his arms.

“Everything will be fine, mi amor,” he comforted me and kissed my hair. “You have me. I will make sure that she can’t destroy your image. I will make sure that no one will hurt you. And if they did, I would cut their limbs and dance on their entrails.”

I continue crying in his arms. His shirt was already wet because of my tears, but instead of pushing me away, he pulled me closer and tightly.

His smell calmed me. His warmth gives me comfort. His touch tells me that everything is okay. His words lifted all of the burdens I’ve been carrying.

“No one must make you cry, mi amor. I will make sure to gauge the eyeballs of those who will make you cry.”

AFTER SOME minutes of endless crying, I finally calmed down. Kelleon watched me as I ate the food, with a better mood this time. My mood was really lifted up that I ate almost four servings of rice and three fried chicken breasts.

While I was cleaning the table, Kelleon went to the living room. He went back, having two small and yellow papers on his hands. When I was already done, I went to him.

“What’s that?” I asked, trying to read what’s written on the paper.

Kelleon handed me one of the papers. “These are tickets to Enchanted Kingdom,” he answered, making me widen my eyes.

“Did you just say Enchanted Kingdom?!” I exclaimed.

He nodded. I immediately grabbed one of the tickets and read it. When I confirmed that it was really a ticket for EK, I started jumping up and down because of joy.

“Mi amor! Don’t jump! You just finished eating!” Kelleon exclaimed while stopping me from jumping.

I did stop, but I hugged Kelleon as an alternative for it. He hugged me back and made me closer to him.

“Thank you! I really wanted to go to EK since I was young!” I exclaimed happily on him, holding myself from jumping.

When our bodies separated, Kelleon gave me a warm smile.

“I’m happy that you liked it,” he said. “I really want to cheer you up, and I came up with this.”

I gave him a kiss. It was a short kiss that Kelleon even tried to catch my lips after I pulled from him.

“How did you know that I want to go to EK?” I asked. I never told anyone about that since I have this feeling that they will judge me because the amusement park is for kids.

He pursed his lips as if he’s trying to stop himself from smiling. “I just heard it somewhere.”

I furrowed my eyebrows on him. I was about to ask him a question, but he told me to go take a bath and get ready.

“We’ll be leaving at 1 PM, mi amor,” he said before I entered the bathroom.

THE CROWD greeted us when we entered the amusement park. It’s Sunday, and it is not surprising that a lot of families are here.

“Cariño!” I called him and pointed the carousel. “Let’s ride that!”

We walked towards the lane for the carousel. It was so long that I thought it would take us almost half an hour to have our turn.

“Mi amor, I’ll just talk to someone. I’ll be back in a minute, okay?” he said.

I nodded before giving a bite on my lilac cotton candy. He gave me a forehead kiss before walking away. I didn’t know where he went when he blended with the people in the lane.

“Hey! I want that cotton candy!”

I looked around to find where that voice was coming from, but I found no one.

“I said I want that!” That voice was heard again. Someone from below pulled the hem of my shirt. I didn’t tucked my shirt in my pants.

I saw a little fat boy standing. He was pointing my cotton candy and looked pissed at me.

“I want that!” he said while pointing my cotton candy.

I looked to my cotton candy, then to the child, then to the cotton candy, then back to the child again.

“Nope. I won’t give it to you,” I said and stuck my tongue out.

“No! I want that!” he exclaimed and started jumping up and down to reach for my cotton candy.

I teased him more. “You won’t have this cotton candy. This is mine!” I said using a child-like voice.

“No! That’s mine!” he jumped higher, but the tip of his hand didn’t even reach my shoulders.

A woman ran towards us and touched the little boy’s waist. She looked apologetic to me.

“I’m sorry, Miss.”

I nodded and smiled at her. She started calming her child down and told him that she would just buy him a cotton candy like mine. Good thing that the child accepted it.

While the child was walking away with his mom, he looked back at me and stuck his tongue out. I did the same to him.

I want a child like that. Just his cuteness, not the brattiness.

“Why are you sticking your tongue like that, mi amor?” Kelleon’s voice was heard beside me.

Grinning, I turned to him. “I just teased someone,” I said while smiling playfully.

He touched my waist. “Let’s go now. The carousel is waiting.”

He guided me towards the entrance of the carousel. I looked back and saw that the lane was still busy. People in the line are looking at us with furrowed eyebrows.

“Aren’t we gonna fall in line?” I asked him while he was helping me ride the horse.

He chuckled. “We can’t play on every ride you want if we fall in line.”

When he rode the horse beside me, the personnels started to let other people enter.

I was so excited while waiting for the ride to move. This is my first time riding this. Before, I was just watching others ride on this, and they all look happy. I wonder what it feels like when it is already moving.

When the personnel left the ride, Kelleon intertwined our hands. I smiled at him, and he did the same thing.

The carousel started moving. At first, it was just circling around. But as time passed by, the horse was also going up and down.

“Cariño, look!” I exclaimed. “My horse is higher than yours! Hahaha! Take that!”

Kelleon was just laughing at me. I know that I’m acting like a child, but I want to cherish this moment. I want to enjoy every second of it.

The carousel moved slowly until it stopped. I am torn between riding it again or trying another one.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

“We can always go back here if you want, mi amor,” Kelleon said. “Now, what do you want to try next?”

We rode a lot of rides in the amusement park. Bumper cars, horror house. The drop tower that almost made me vomit the chicken breasts I ate this morning. The roller coaster and disk-o-magic spinned us in the air.

“Do you want to take a rest, mi amor?” Kelleon asked when he noticed that I’m catching my breath. It’s already seven in the evening and I think that we have almost finished all of the rides! Even the extreme ones!

“One last ride,” I said before pointing at the huge structure. “I want to ride a ferris wheel.”

Like the previous rides we had, we didn’t even need to line up. The personnel immediately opened the ride for us even if there were still other people in the line.  I don’t know how Kelleon did that, but I like it.

Kelleon and I sat on the same chair of the ferris wheel instead of sitting across each other. He put his arm on my shoulder, and I leaned to him.

As the personnel is adding more people in the ride, we are also moving higher.

As we reached the pinnacle, the view of the shining city greeted us.

“It looks so beautiful,” I said while in awe.

“It is,” Kelleon answered.

There was a short silence between the two of us, but Kelleon cut it.

“Mi amor,” he called me. “Did you know that there’s a belief about ferris wheel that if you kiss your lover when it reaches the highest point, you will stay together forever?”

I turned my head to him. I don’t know if I will believe that, but I watched a couple of romance movies where the protagonists are kissing in a ferris wheel.

“Well, maybe it’s t–”

Kelleon’s lips crashed into mine. It was so sudden that it caught me off guard for a moment, but at the time I tasted his lips, I moved it and kissed him with the same ferocity.

We stopped kissing when we felt the ferris wheel moved. We stared into each other’s eyes as if we’ve been waiting for each other for too long.

Before he gives me a kiss, Kelleon whispered into my ear.

“Estoy enloquecido por ti. Te amo más que a la vida en sí.”
