Chapter 29
Meanwhile, a gasp echoed from the doorway. Selena spun around and spotted two men in sharp evening suits. One was Jaime, looking utterly flabbergasted, and the other seemed strangely familiar despite being a stranger. Since marrying Everett, she had grown used to his cold shoulder, and his friends were no different, dismissive and condescending. But she had long stopped caring about their opinions.
Ignoring the duo, she headed upstairs. Jaime rubbed his eyes, trying to process what he saw.
The unfamiliar man chimed in, "Is she really Everett's wife?"
Jaime nodded, then shook his head, baffled.
The man laughed. "So, is she or isn't she?"
Jaime was at a loss, "Honestly, I'm not sure anymore..."
Selena went into Everett's room to change and freshen up before stepping out again. She bumped into the same strangely familiar man, who seemed to be searching for something. When he saw her, he approached and gently asked, "Mrs. Bennett, could you point me to the restroom?"
Despite her feelings for Everett's friends, Selena kept her manners intact. She was about to give directions when she got a good look at his face.
"Wait, you're the Good Samaritan?"
He laughed softly. "You remember me?"
No wonder he seemed familiar; he was the kind-hearted guy who had given up his ticket for her at the airport without charging a penny extra. "What a small world," Selena smiled. "I was in such a rush last time. I didn't get to introduce myself properly. I'm Selena."
He replied, "Callum."
Selena blinked in surprise, "You're Callum, the eldest child of the Campbell family?"

Callum Campbell was well-known for his grace and talent. He's a true gentleman, unlike the usual crowd of spoiled young elites. He was one of the few who matched Everett in reputation, though he chose medicine over business and had become a sought-after doctor. He had worked abroad for years, so Selena had only heard of him by reputation and was taken aback to see him home.
Callum quipped, "Do I not fit the bill?"
"No, that's not it," Selena said, scratching her head with a hint of embarrassment, quickly changing the topic. "I never thought we'd cross paths again." She glanced at him, adding with a self-deprecating smile, "Especially not like this."
Callum paused, then understood what she meant, replying with a smile, "From where I stand, it looked like self-defense."Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

side. Anytime she clashed with Rebecca, everyone always assumed she was at fault. This was the first time someone stood up for her.
"You... You saw Rebecca throw something at me first?"
Callum shook his head. "I only saw you soaking Rebecca with red wine." "Then why would you say that?"
From what she knew, Callum was one of Everett's close friends, and Josh had a particular fondness for him. He was tight with the Bennett family and genuinely treated Rebecca like a sister.
"Rebecca's known for being a bit of a diva. She must have provoked you to retaliate the way you did."
Selena raised an eyebrow. Rebecca usually played the innocent sweetheart and fooled everyone. Maybe people knew her true colors but chose to let her get away with it.
