Zara 

The next day I woke up feeling pretty exhausted and my body ached everywhere as I got up. 

Needed to find a way to survive around here. I couldn’t just depend on Mateo, who can’t even defend me when his wife starts to humiliate me. 

I quickly took a shower with no shower gel or soap, just water. Crabbing some clothes that were in my bag. 

Putting on jeans and a tank top with some sneakers and a cardigan. Didn’t have any clothes and honestly, this is not how I wanted to live. 

Brushing my wet hair back, I made my way out of the bed. 

“Good morning” Mateo’s voice came startling me as I placed my hand on my chest, looking into his eyes. 

He was in a pair of baggy white trousers an oversized white t–shirt with a chain in his neck and white and green sneakers.

“Morning” 

His lips turned up into a smile as he looked at me. “I just wanted to apologize for what happened last night.” He said 

“That’s fine. No need to apologize really” I forced a smile walking towards the sink, 

“I could have offered you coffee but… I chuckled softly as he looked at me from head to toe. 

“Don’t worry. I know I haven’t been… Um…” he stuttered, coming closer. 

“I know it’s probably hard for her. I know I would be furious if someone came up and claimed my husband as her mate,” I remarked as he nodded 

his head. 

He inhaled sharply as his eyes darkened while gazing at me. 

“You shouldn’t be here. I am sure she wouldn’t be happy knowing that you are here.” I remarked, bringing my hand to my neck, and gently stroking the back of my neck. 

“He lets out a low growl. 

“Why are you chasing him away? He is ours Skye snapped, 

I could feel she was trying to get possessive and who knows what she would do to Summer if she got upset. I don’t trust my wolves. 

“Spend the day y with me.” He offered as I raised my eyebrows. 

“Summer? She wouldn’t be happy.

“Enough, you two! I will decide, I snapped at them, 

“If we get to go with him. We can find out exactly how to get out of here. So let’s do that, okay?” I said to him 

“Zara??” Mateo brought me back from the train of thought I was suddenly in. 

“What do you think?” He asked me. 

I let out a heavy sigh as I nodded my head 

“Just give me a minute to change into something else,” I said to him as he nodded his head.

I quickly rush back to the bedroom and I look at the bag on the floor with my clothes Had no clothes apart from a wrinkled white shirt that I could throw on or just go with him like this. 

I quickly went through my bag, hoping I would find something else, but all I could find were tank tops and jeans. 

“You know what I think I am fine like this.” I said, walking back into the living room, but he wasn’t there. 

let out an exasperated sigh as I checked out the window and the car, which was in my driveway, wasn’t there anymore. 

I chuckled, biting my lower lip. 

Once again, you let him play with your feelings, Paris remarked 

I couldn’t move but just stood still in the middle of the room. My heart is racing. 

“Wait. I thought you were changing” Mateo’s voice came behind me as I beamed with a smile. 

“Thought you… Um…” I stuttered as he came closer 

“Had to make a call. You ready?” Here asked me as 1 nonchalantly nodded my head. 

“Sorry. I asked Austin to change the car.” He explained as I followed him close by, 

1 got distracted as I watched the ladies from a distance who were jogging in combat boots and sportswear.

He opened the door for me. I give him a weak smile before turning, looking from a distance. 

I could feel Micah’s presence close and his heart beating as I let out an exasperated sigh, but he wasn’t the only one I could hear. 

A heart racing from the second floor of the building. I could hear it and a soft whimper.

I stopped, unable to take a step and get into the car,

“You didn’t eat, right?” He asked me as I smiled, giving him a reluctant nod, pushed the door open as we walked into the cafe together and most of them bowed down to him 

“I wanted to talk to you about the cabin. L.” 

“Why don’t you eat first, then we can talk?” He cut me short, 

We entered into the old diner as soon as we were inside. The powerful aroma of roasted coffee hit my nostrils, making me smile. 

I thought of Mum and Zach back home and wondered if they were looking for me. 

Were they worried! 1 pondered, thinking of the consequences of my actions 

“They serve the best breakfast burritos and their coffee is just out of this world.” He remarked, beaming with a smile as I settled down on the chair. looking around the restaurant. 

He ordered a burrito with some fresh juice while I ordered coffee and a full English breakfast with some casserole.

were you running from!” He asked me as I chuckled.

“What made you think I was running?” asked him as she shrugged his shoulders, “You had a bag with you, and Theoden says you were taken from a pack of snugglers. So.”

I quickly wipe the tears, feeling a lump forming in my throat. I sniffled back, grabbing the glass of water and gulping down all the water.

His words of assurance were soothing as I nodded my head. We ended up finishing up eating without talking again before we went to a clothing 

Store 

“Alpha” The lady who was by the reception bowed her head as soon as she saw us walking in. 

“Taylor,” he responded as he walked straight to the couch in the store and sat down with his legs apart. I sat 

“You must be Zara, she beamed with a smile, walking towards me while 1 settled for the chair just adjacent to Mateo,

I watched him as he stressed while driving as I sighed heavily

When we finally pulled over in front of the houses, I could see dead bodies on the ground as I gasped. 

“Please stay in the car. It doesn’t look too good out there.” He says, getting g out of the car as I watch him walking over to the men who were checking 

the bodies 

My heart aches as I watch the bodies on the ground with the bodies of the kids. Stepping out of the car, walking to the little bodies on the ground. 

The foul smell coming from the bodies makes me more curious as I get closer to the body 

He said we should stay in the car. Why are you coming out here? Skye asked me as I went closer to the body, gasping.

It was a liule girl who was about eight or nine. Her heart ripped out as I whimpered, covering my mouth.
