Back then she hoped that Jason would give her some. Even if it was only 1%, it would at least make her feel like she was a Eden .

Now, it seemed that when she didn’t care about the shares anymore was also the time when Jason wanted to give it to her. She suppressed a bitter laugh as she thought of all the times she had cried at their words and crumbled at their insults.

How ironic!

Shadow couldn’t help herself and actually laughed aloud. It was really ridiculous.

Although she knew that Jason had ulterior motives in mind, she still asked, “How many shares are you planning to give me.”

“As you’re my daughter, you’ll receive more shares than your mother.” He said vaguely, patting his chest. There was silence before he continued, “Don’t worry, I won’t treat you unfairly. After all, I’m your father.”

Her shares were more than Lisa ‘s? Shadow pursed her lips.

Hm… Since he had already mentioned the shares, how can she make it easy for him?

“Well, now that I’ve become the Young Madame of the Lances family, it’s only natural as you treat me as such.” Shadow said coldly. “If you really want to offer me some shares, I’d take at least 15%. Anything less would be an insult to the Lances family, don’t you think?”

Although she didn’t have any shares in the Eden Group, she knew how those shares were publicly distributed.

Jason had a 30% shares in the business. Jessica and her brother each had 10%. Lisa only had 5% that totaled 55%. The majority vote was all part of the Eden family.

The remaining percentage belonged to the other shareholders.

If Jason agreed to give 15% of his shares, he’d be in great danger.

That meant that if Shadow didn’t vote for him during the next shareholder meeting, he might not be able to hold his position as chairman of the Eden Group.

There was silence from the other end of the line.

15% wasn’t a small amount.

“I’ve treated you well, haven’t I?” Jason chuckled, trying but failing to cover the anger behind his words. “Your request is a bit too much, isn’t it? I mean, after all, we’re all family. How about you accept a lower percentage and we can discuss increasing your shares in the future.”

Treated her well?

Shadow simply smiled. “You’re getting old, Dad. You shouldn’t be getting angry all the time; it’s not good for your health. Besides, I’m only saying it casually. It doesn’t matter if you don’t agree; either way, I already have a job waiting for me. I got to go now.”

What happened to the Eden family?

It was rare for Jason to bring up the topic of shares when it came to her. In fact, he had never done it before, so what was his purpose?

On the other side of the Pack , in the Eden Castle , things weren’t looking up.

Jason was so angry that he almost threw his phone across the room as soon as he hung up. Gritting his teeth, he slammed his hand against the armrest and pushed himself up. The audacity! He had never seen Shadow act like this before.

Folding his hands behind his back, he paced back and forth in his office. His eyes glowed with so much fiery rage for her. “Just because she’s now the Young Madame of the Lances Family doesn’t mean she should act this arrogant.”

“Dad, you shouldn’t be angry over such a small matter.” Jessica comforted as she poured him a cup of tea. “It isn’t worth it.”

However, the old man was too outraged to even take the cup of tea from her hands. Instead, he pointed at her. “How many times have I told you not to go to those clubs? If you really want to go there, then the least you could do is to be a little more careful! Look what happened! The Grant family had already agreed to the mating bond, and with all these scandals out, do you think they’ll still want you as their daughter-in-law?”

The Eden Group had been short of funds recently. Originally, they planned to let Jessica mated into the Grant family then ask them to invest in their business. However, now that her scandals caught fire, the Grant family had dropped all sorts of investment plans.

That was why he shifted his hopes to Shadow again.

Shadow had been married into the Lances family for around three months right now, and she was doing just fine. In fact, they assumed she had gotten along quite well. If they could gain her favor, maybe they could get her to persuade Alpha Kilian to invest in them.

“Dad, Shadow must’ve done that. She wants to destroy me.” Jessica said, but something flashed in her eyes. “But I’ve already gotten back on her.”

Jason ‘s expression changed. “What did you do?”

“She destroyed my reputation, hasn’t she?” She crossed her arms over her chest. A smirk played on her lips. “It’s only fair that I pay her back ten times as much, which is why I’ve lured her into Sky Light Club and…”

Slap!

A crisp sound echoed across the study.

Jessica ‘s head swung to the side from the slap. A dark red mark appeared the sides of her face as her fingers slide down her skin. Her face contorted into that of complete disbelief. “Did you just… Dad, did you just hit me?”

Although Jason had gotten angry at her a few times in the past, he had never laid a hand on her.

However, he couldn’t help it! This wasn’t just child’s play! If the Eden Group couldn’t survive because of this little mess up, they could face bankruptcy. Or worse, they could be bought up! This wasn’t the time to be so petty!

In all honesty, Jason loved his ex-wife, as such, he loved the two children that she had left with him. His favorite happened to be Jessica , who looked so much like her. Sometimes, he wondered if his wife was alive, would she have taught her more?

Jason looked at his hand and he sighed. The furious expression on his face softened. “Jessica , no matter what happens, Shadow is the Young Madame of the Lances family. Although she may not look important, the power she holds, is what we need right now.” He paused and continued. “Look at her! She’s still alive and well; if we play our cards right, she could get us Alpha Kilian ‘s favor.”

“So what if she gets his favor? He’s nothing more than a cripple.”

Even now, Jessica still wasn’t convinced. To her, it didn’t matter what Shadow status was now. In her eyes, the later was just a country bumpkin whose own mother rejected her. To her, Shadow was nothing more than a fly in her windshield.

However, this wasn’t the time to bring out that ugly woman’s shortcomings when Jason was this angry.

“Even if Alpha Kilian is a cripple, he’s still the Young Master of the Lances family. Although he doesn’t look much, he will soon inherit the Lances family fortune. If you play nice with Shadow , all our problems would be solved!”

“Then why don’t we just let her ask Alpha Kilian for some money?” Jessica slowly nodded.

Recalling the phone call he just had, Jason’s face darkened. “She’s got more confidence now. She actually dared to hang up on me and even asked me for 15% of the company’s shares!”

“Then give it to her!” Jessica didn’t think it was a big deal. “Didn’t you want her to come to the Eden Group to work? When the time comes, we could think of something to get her to return her shares.”

Hearing this, Jason fell into a deep thought before he smiled. “My precious daughter is so smart. Did I hurt you when I hit you just now? It’s my fault…”

“Dad, I’m fine.”

No matter how much Shadow thought about it, she couldn’t figure out what Jason ‘s goal was. But she would never have thought that Jason wanted money from Alpha Kilian .

She was going to Nine Clouds Media for an interview today.

However, as she was heading out, she received another call from Jason .

“Shadow , I’ve thought about your request, and I promise to give you 15% of Eden Group’s shares. When are you coming to work?”

She frowned. Why would he agree so quickly?

15% was a large number and for him to give it to her within a few hours…

Should she accept the shares?
