Mated to my sister’s ugly mate

21

At the restaurant, when the two sisters locked eyes, the room seemed to grow colder. Jessica tossed her bag onto the table, raised her chin, and spoke condescendingly to Shadow, “Just spit it out. I don’t have time to waste on you. I have a date with Henry.”

As she spoke, Jessica admired her freshly manicured nails, which glistened under the bright lights. Then, she turned her attention to Shadow. While Jessica was dressed for a gala, her sister seemed more suited for a casual gathering. Despite the passing years, Shadow’s unattractiveness persisted. Her long dress, unhealthy and blemished skin, and thick-framed black glasses gave her an almost toad-like appearance.

Could this woman really think she could compete with Jessica for a man? Only foolish people on the internet would believe such nonsense.

Feeling her anger rise, Shadow lowered her gaze and focused on the glass in her hand. She gripped it tightly, suppressing the urge to smash it against Jessica’s face. Just as she looked up, she noticed a man with a camera entering the restaurant and taking a seat facing their table.

“Let’s get started,” she thought, flashing a cunning smile as she sent a message to the man.

Shadow made sure to be discreet in her actions, not wanting Jessica to suspect anything was amiss. The success of her plan hinged on Jessica revealing her true colors, and that would not happen if she knew someone was watching.

Shadow looked up at Jessica and spoke humbly, her voice trembling slightly. “I have already apologized publicly. Please don’t make things harder for my mother.”

Keeping her head bowed, she appeared to be a victim of her older sister’s bullying. This was the image Shadow wanted to convey, as it reflected the truth.

Unaware of any underlying motives, Jessica sneered. Shadow had always been a simpleton, incapable of outsmarting her overnight. That was impossible.

With a satisfied gleam in her eyes, Jessica laughed coldly. “Fine. If you don’t want me to punish Lisa, I won’t. But there’s a condition.” She crossed her arms and raised her chin, relishing her victory.

“What condition?” Shadow asked nervously.

Rolling her eyes, Jessica scoffed, “Why are you so foolish? Lisa never cared about you or considered you her daughter. So why are you so concerned about her? You must be the newest generation of stupidity.”

Shadow’s hands tightened in her lap, her knuckles turning white. She spoke with a bitter tone, “Regardless of everything, she is still my mother. Even if I know it was because of you that she begged me to marry Alpha Kilian, I still agreed. Because she is my mother, and I am her daughter.”

“Pitiful,” Jessica muttered, unable to bear witness to Shadow’s helpless and vulnerable state. In their younger days, Shadow had excelled academically and even rivaled Jessica’s beauty. That’s why Jessica despised her so bitterly. It was fortunate that Lisa also took her side in this.

Since then, Shadow had become ugly and unintelligent. Jessica’s hatred for her grew stronger with each passing day.

Already embarrassed to have a sister who was both foolish and unattractive, Jessica’s disdain knew no bounds.

But if anything, her sister was as obedient as a dog. Easily used and easily disposed.

Jessica smirked, curling her lips and saying venomously, “You are just a bitch like your mother.”

How ironic.

Ridicule flashed through Shadow’s eyes. The moment Lisa married into the Eden family twenty years ago, she made it her goal to treat Jessica like a princess, ensuring she never felt uncomfortable with her. In the end, it seemed her feelings and sincerity were not reciprocated. It was a waste of time.

Jessica just called her a bitch!

What was the use of all her hard work and effort?

“You can insult me however you want, but please don’t speak about my mother that way. She was genuinely good to you,” Shadow said softly, although she was hurt.

How could Jessica listen to Shadow’s words? She slammed the table and yelled, “Shut up! You don’t have the right to teach me! Now all you need to do is divorce Alpha Kilian.”

“Divorce?” Shadow stared at her, her eyes wide open.

At this time, her surprise was genuine.

Shadow could predict what Jessica was thinking.

Although the Lances family didn’t care about who mated with Alpha Kilian, they definitely wouldn’t stand for it if one of them went back on their words. Shadow was nothing more than an ugly and stupid woman who had stolen him from Jessica for the fame and fortune of the Lances family. Now, Jessica wanted Shadow to end things once and for all.

Even if she were to mention divorce with Alpha Kilian, it would be an insult to him.

Lances would never forgive her! In fact, they’d do everything to make her life a living hell.

This move of Jessica’s was truly vicious. Now that she had drawn everyone’s attention to Shadow, she could simply stand on the sidelines. She wanted Lances to target Shadow and let them vent their resentment and hatred on her. While she could live peacefully with Henry without any societal pressure.

Incredible!

Jessica pushed a strand of her hair behind her ear, revealing a slight pink mark on her neck. “As long as you do this, I won’t make things difficult for Lisa.”

Although Shadow was naive, she wasn’t stupid.

The red mark was clearly a hickey.

Was she showing off?

Shadow took a drink, feeling a lump in her throat.

She wasn’t sad that Jessica was with Henry. She was upset that the person she had been in love with was just like any other man.

“But the Lances will never agree to me divorcing Alpha Kilian.”

Even if it was a divorce, it could only be initiated by Alpha Kilian. She was a nobody in front of the Lances family. She was very aware of her own place.

“That’s your problem. My advice to you is to be an obedient dog. Otherwise, your mother will suffer the consequences.”

Jessica couldn’t be bothered to say anything else. She took out a mirror to touch up her lipstick, then dialed a number on her phone and softly called out, “Henry.”

Shadow’s expression froze, but her reaction satisfied Jessica.

Although the ugly woman posed no threat to her, it gave Jessica satisfaction to see her in such a pitiful state. She felt a sense of accomplishment when she saw Shadow behaving like a dejected dog.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

Through the window, Shadow saw her sister driving away before turning to the table in front of her. Her mission was done here, and it seemed she had gotten the results she wanted. Although she knew Jessica was terrible, she hadn’t realized how bad it was until now.

The man just waved his phone without speaking. His job was done too. Shadow lowered her head to look at her phone and saw a new message.

“I’ll send you the videos when I get back.”

Shadow replied with just one word, “Thanks.”

She placed her phone down and started to eat the dishes on the table. The food was already cold, but the taste was still there.

When she was young, she liked Jessica a lot. In fact, if anyone were to ask her five-year-old self who she wanted to be, she’d happily point at her sister and say, “Sister Jessica!”

Jessica was pretty and smart, and she loved to dress up. That’s why Shadow kept following her.

However, instead of receiving love, what she got was insult and slaps, leaving her wondering what she had done wrong.

But it turned out, Jessica was actually such a heartless person.

Jessica had been so good to her for more than twenty years, treated her as her own daughter, and the woman could call her a bitch!

If Jessica could call Lisa like that, then what about her, whom she never liked?

She had thought that there was some affection between Jessica and Lisa, given that they’ve always been on the same side, but…

Shadow had a knot in her stomach, and the food wasn’t that good. She got up and left the restaurant.

As she walked away, Alpha Kilian went to the back door to catch up with the paparazzi, pulling him to the side.

The paparazzi saw Alpha Kilian’s high and mighty appearance and knew he was different from others. He asked defensively, “What are you doing?”

Alpha Kilian’s gaze fell on the man’s bag, and he said calmly, “Show me the video.”

“II don’t know what you’re talking about!” This was tomorrow’s headline news. The last thing the reporter needed was for someone else to break the news.

“Really? Do you believe that I can blacklist you from the entire entertainment industry in the Herton Pack?” Alpha Kilian’s expression didn’t change. His voice was calm, but it sent chills down anyone’s spine.

Although the reporter had no idea that this man was Alpha Kilian, he could tell he was powerful by his custom-made suit and signature suitcase. It was obvious he was rich and important. Either way, there was no way he was messing with him.

Without doubting Alpha Kilian’s abilities, the reporter obediently showed him the video.

The scene and audio were clear and echoed in the parking lot. Alpha Kilian listened to the conversation between the two women, not missing a word.
