Chapter 1909
Chapter 1909
Liam was obviously annoyed and displeased.
Caprice pouted. She decided to be frank and asked, "Isn't she your girlfriend?"
Liam's expression shifted. His furrowed brows ease but his expression looked slightly grimmer. Startled, Caprice awkwardly wiggled closer to the door.
At the next moment, his big hand held her tiny wrist.
Caprice was pulled back, closer to him than just now. Her body almost pressed against his. She then heard his deep voice saying, "Who told you she's my girlfriend?”
Caprice looked surprised. She looked up at him and asked, "She isn't your girlfriend?"
He looked into her eyes and said with gritted teeth, "Of course, she's not.”Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
Caprice widened her eyes. "But... But they say she's your girlfriend."
‘Who are 'they'?”
Caprice blinked.
She realized even though quite a number of people told her that Heather was his most trusted assistant and the most capable, no one had ever told her that Heather was his girlfriend.
However, whenever Heather was present, Liam would keep his distance from her and whenever she went looking for Liam, Heather would be there.
Why?
Heather kept exerting her dominance over Liam by calling him in an intimate tone.
If she was not his girlfriend, what was she to him?
"Caprice, answer my question,” Liam said in a deeper voice.
Caprice looked at his gloomy expression. She reluctantly asked, "She's really not your girlfriend?" "No."
‘Then who is she to you?”
“Subordinate. I'm her superior."
"If it's superior and subordinate, then why the intimacy? Why is she with you everytime | see you?" Liam went silent, not because of guilt but because of shock.
He did not expect her to ask him such a question.
He answered, "Everytime you see me, I'm working. Heather is responsible for liaising with clients. Of course, she has to be with
me. In other words, Heather was merely a liaison that worked for him.
Caprice was surprised by the answer. She asked, "If there's nothing between you two, then why did she call you so intimately in front of me?”
Liam's expression remained grim. "How did she call me in front of you?"
"She called you Liam like she's calling her boyfriend.”
As though she was afraid that Liam did not believe her, she pulled her phone out and showed him the chat history with Heather.
Heather's tone really sounded like she was referring to Liam as her boyfriend, and she kept exerting her dominance over Liam, making Caprice feel like she was some mistress trying to ruin a couple’s relationship.
Liam took her phone over to have a look. He scrolled through the chat window and went down to the last text she received. The latest text was about Heather being fired because she set Caprice up at the entrance of the Carter Tech District.
She first texted Caprice an apology and something like this, "Yeah. My prank at the security room made Liam mad but even if he doesn't let me go, it's time for me to leave. My parents want me back to take over the family business and Liam feels that I'm working too much, so it's a good opportunity for me to take a break."
Since when did he think Heather was working too much? When did he tell her to take a break?
Even if he could not understand how women talk, he could tell that Heather was eager to shape herself as someone important to him.
She wanted Caprice to believe that she was close, or even intimate, with Liam to the point that they were dating.
His brows furrowed and asked, "Is this how she talks to you behind my back?" "Yeah." Caprice nodded.
