Another wicked plot
Author’s POV
She crouched close to the iron bars, wishing that she could bring them down and get her father out of there. “How are you doing, father?” Emilia asked, her eyes glazed with tears.
Leonardo shrugged, apparently tired of the situation. “How do you expect me to feel?” He replied, his tone cranky. “I’ve been here for almost two days just because I lost my temper with a man who deserved it. How can they allow their CEO to rot here like an ordinary man?” He whined bitterly.
“You mean that no one has visited you?”
Leonardo lifted his face, his gaze meeting hers. “I’m sure your ears are not placed on the sides of your head for fancy. Didn’t you hear what I’ve been saying? The only person who came around today was Melissa, and she promised to get me out of here.”
Emilia rolled her eyes and muttered inaudible words as she sprang to her feet. “And you believe that she’d come through for you?” She asked, her face forming a frown.
“I believe she will because she’s the only one who cares.” He answered and hissed. “Look, I need you to stop bothering me with your numerous questions. It’s pissing me off already. Just come closer. I have a task for you.” His voice lowered as he passed a cursory gaze around.
“Dad, I don’t think we can say much to each other here. This was the same cell that Liam stayed in.” She explained to him and the officers didn’t even know that I was there.
“I don’t care about that, but there’s someone you’re going to help me with. He’s the reason I’m here and I want him gone.” He whispered as Emilia listened intently to his instructions.
She sighed, massaging her forehead and leaning forward on the bar. “Do I have to do it by myself?”
“I’m yet to forgive you for what you did with Liam’s case, but I’m offering you another second chance. You’ll have to scratch my back if you want me to scratch yours.” He said sternly.Content is © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Knowing that her father wouldn’t change his stance, she had no choice but to agree to his wishes. Now that she wasn’t sure if Liam’s death was being investigated, she needed her father’s support to escape the eyes of the law.
“Alright, father. I’d do as you said.” Her voice lacked conviction, but it didn’t matter. She’d do it no matter what.
Leonardo’s face lit up with a crooked smile. “You have to do it tonight and make sure that it won’t be traced back to you. Now leave here and get to work!” He barked and she raised the mask to her nose and left.
Her body trembled slightly as she went through the exit without encountering any cop, who tried to check her. If Dexter suspected that she had a hand in Liam’s death, then she should have been arrested already.
Everything felt so weird.
Her guts told her that something was wrong, but she silenced the little voices in her head and hopped into her car.

Melissa’s POV
For the first time I came to Mr Han’s house, it wasn’t for a good reason. Emilia and her father were planning to strike again, and I’d never forgive myself if I watched something bad happen to Mr Han and his family.
His wife opened the door for me after I knocked, wearing a bright smile on her face. She was beautiful with a warm aura I didn’t expect her to carry; she was the opposite of her husband.
“Good evening, ma’am,” She greeted me sweetly.
“Good evening, Mrs Han. I came to visit your husband. He isn’t expecting me but I have to see him as soon as possible.”
“Oh, come in then.” She opened the door wider and ushered me to a plush upholster. “Please, make yourself comfortable while I get him.” She disappeared into an adjoining hallway, while I scanned the bright living room.
For someone who looked grumpy all the time, the interiors were quite different as the furniture and the curtains had golden hues that matched the brown tiles and the creamy-painted walls.
A strong white jasmine scent emanated from the diffuser, making the house inviting and relaxing to be in.
Footsteps rang out, and I darted my attention to the direction to find Mr Han approaching me in a pair of grey slacks and a white vest.
“Hi, Mr Han. It’s good to see you once again. How’s your jaw?” I closed the distance between us as he gave me a brief embrace.
“It’s getting better.” He said and touched the plaster that bordered his chin to the wounded jaw. “I wasn’t expecting you, Miss Rogers. What could have brought you here so abruptly, that made you not call ahead of time?” He asked lightly.
“You and your family are in danger. Leonardo is coming for you.”
If he heard me, I couldn’t tell because his face remained unreadable. Then he surprised me and let out a chuckle. “Miss Rogers, you are blowing things out of proportion. Leonardo is in the police station and he won’t be getting out until I decide to withdraw the case. I was the one he assaulted.” He retorted, clearly pissed.
I knew he wouldn’t believe me, that was why I made sure that I brought evidence along. No matter how strong-headed he tried to be, I wouldn’t leave without an assurance that he would do as I said.
“Here’s a voice record of the conversation between him and his daughter.” I passed my phone to him, and he collected it, shooting a skeptical glance at me.
He listened to it and I smiled, watching his expression switch from doubtful to surprised. His lips parted subconsciously and his body trembled visibly.
“I can’t believe this. How were you able to get this information?”
“I have my ways, Mr Han.” A smirk played on my lips. “You are a just man, and I won’t allow Leonardo and his daughter to hurt you like they did to me. So I’ll advise you to take five steps ahead of them. Take your wife and your daughter far away from here for the meantime, until the dust dies down.” I instructed him while he nodded, and got to his feet.
