Chapter 58
Chapter 58
The bag containing Lianne’s phone was thrown onto the passenger seat, so Lianne could not reach it.
Lianne watched helplessly as the car drove out of the city and onto the coastal expressway, headed
toward Summer Hills.
After about an hour, the car arrived at the beach. From there, they changed their mode of
transportation to a speedboat.
After about a half-hour speedboat ride, they arrived at Paloma Island and boarded a sightseeing
car.
Everyone in Rosewood knew that Paloma Island was the Atlases’ private island, and there was a Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
world-famous luxury manor on it.
After going around in circles, the two strong men brought Lianne to a small building. There was a large
lawn on the side of the small building. At the end of the lawn was a cliff, and below the cliff was the
endless sea.
A large tent was set up on the lawn, and there were chairs under the tent. A woman in a sheath dress
sat on a chair as she sipped tea slowly.
Before even seeing the person clearly, Lianne guessed that the woman was Zane’s mother, Suzanne
Irwin.
However, what did Suzanne want from Lianne?
The two men brought Lianne in front of the woman. “Ma’am, we’ve brought her.”
“Good. You may leave.” Suzanne looked at Lianne and smiled softly. “Ms. Simpson, you don’t mind if I
use this method to invite you to my house, right?”
Her skin was well-maintained, and she wore exquisite makeup. She was elegant and beautiful. If
Lianne did not know, she would not have been able to tell that Suzanne was in her early fifties.
“Mrs. Atlas, why are you looking for me?” Of course, Lianne took offense to the way she was ” invited”
here, but so what?
Many capitalists thought they could do whatever they wanted with money. Lianne even believed the
woman would throw her into the sea to feed the fish if she provoked her.
Suzanne smiled and said, “Ms. Simpson, please have a seat.”
She was smiling, but it did not reach her eyes. There was something hostile about her smile. Lianne did
not want to stay with her for another moment. “Mrs. Atlas, you can tell me frankly if you have something
to say.”
Suzanne pointed to the empty chair. “Sit down and have a cup of tea first. Let’s chat slowly.” Lianne
had no choice but to sit down. However, she did not drink the tea Suzanne handed to her. “Are you
afraid I poisoned the tea?” Suzanne’s voice was gentle and soft. “Do you think I look like a
bad person, Ms. Simpson?”
Lianne said bluntly, “A good person wouldn’t invite someone over in this way.”
Lianne did not show her respect, but Suzanne did not care. “I just want to hear what you think of Zane.
What do you think of him? Will any girls like him?”
There was no way Suzanne had someone “kidnap” Lianne just to ask this question. Lianne was not
stupid and did not believe her.
Her brain spun fast, and Lianne could only think of one possibility. She guessed that Suzanne also
thought she had feelings for Zane.
Lianne responded calmly. “Mr. Atlas has always been ranked first in the list of eligible bachelors in
Rosewood. Plenty of women like him.”
“Then, do you like him? Do you want to marry him?” Suzanne looked at Lianne with a smile. She
looked like a kind elder. “You can tell me the truth. If you like him, I will let him marry you. We’ll be in -
laws in the future.”
Lianne was not born yesterday and knew Suzanne was merely setting her up. Besides, Lianne did not
want to marry Zane. “Mrs. Atlas, I am merely Mr. Atlas’s assistant. We only interact for work matters,
and I have absolutely no unwarranted feelings for him.”
“What do you mean by unwarranted feelings?” Suzanne exclaimed. “Love is the most beautiful thing in
the world. It is also the most uncontrollable emotion. How can you say it’s an unwarranted feeling?”
All of these people were the same. How many times did Lianne have to explain herself before they
believed she was not interested in Zane?
During such critical moments, Lianne had no choice but to use her husband again. “Mrs. Atlas, I’m
married, and I love my husband very much.”
