Subtitle: Getting to know him

。♡ Alexa ♡。

I was seated on the floor crying tears out, which messed my look, before realizing something.

I was sitting like I didn’t have any power or right to do something about what happened moments ago.

“I won’t sit crying my eyes out while that fool of a bastard takes away my brother from me!”

I said to myself with determination and rose.

I rushed out of the room down the stairs and outside to get my brother back from those heartless idiots, but when I got to where they were inside the car, they whooshed away.

“Bastards!”

I yelled out, hoping they’d hear me and turn back to face me.

But instead…

The car drove on and stopped for a while.

Seizing this as an opportunity, I started running towards where the car was and smiled when I was almost near thinking I’d have victory at last.

Well, the fools inside the car had other plans.

Something was thrown out the back seat window before they drives the car away.

“Cowards!!!”

I yelled again, but this time harder and louder… Making some people on the streets look at me as they moved on their way.

I don’t know why…

But I’m guessing it’s the cause of my appearance.

My night dress still on, my body unwashed, my face tear-caked, my hair uncombed, and eyes as red and puffy as popcorn, who wouldn’t look at such a miserable sight?

Ignoring all the stares from them, I ran back to my house to get some cash to get on a bus.

I don’t care about how I looked right now.

I just know wasting even a minute could be dangerous for Jace.

I had not even a second to spare.

Grabbing my purse, I ran back outside and towards the Bus station to catch a bus.

“Fvck! Why are they so many people here today?”

I cussed under my breath as I waited for a bus to arrive.

The next three minutes saw me waiting for a bus and when it finally Id, I struggled to get onto the bus with other people.

The bus stopped at the destination I wanted it to in no time and I went down.

I trekked the remainder of the way and finally, I was standing in front of Anderson’s door.

“Let me go in.”

I said for the second time.

“I’m sorry, you can’t.”

The strange guy standing guard in front of Anderson’s door said.

“OK. I’m leaving now.”

I said lowly and turned my back on him, pretending I was leaving already.

I think my action eased up the strange guy because I caught sight of him exhaling by my side-eye.

I quickly used this as an opportunity and turned on my heels as fast and swiftly as I could as I dashed towards the door dramatically once again.

I was almost there when the guy caught me in his sweaty smelly embrace and pulled me off the door.

“Let me go, you bastard! I need to know where Anderson kept my brother!”

I yelled at the top of my voice.

“You’re such a stubborn lady. What part of you’re not welcome in here anymore don’t you understand?!”

He yelled back at me.

But instead of yelling back and exchanging words with him, I decided it better to face Anderson than waste my time with the sweat-stained guy.

“Anderson!!!”

I yelled at the top of my lungs.

“Come out here you bastard! I know you can hear me!!!”

I yelled louder and felt my throat parch dryly.

I’d lose my voice at this rate.

“Stop yelling and go back home.”

The sweaty guy said to me, consistently blocking me from getting to the door each time I made a move.

“Anderson!!!”

I yelled, this time louder than before, and felt something burn in my throat.

I fell to the floor and crouched there.

Suddenly, I couldn’t feel my throat any longer. It was too dry.

I could yell no more, but I guess the last effort paid off because the door soon swung open and when I looked up to see who it was, it was the bastard idiot.

“Well, well, well…”

The fool started as he climbed down the little stairs like he was some Greek god.

“What do we have here?”

He smirked as he walked toward me.

“I thought you were done with ‘this fvcking job’ like you placed it?”

He asked sarcastically, to which I tookookas getting almost close to me, so I decided to stand.

I wasn’t gonna sit and watch him stand taller than me while I sat on the floor.

I believed in GENDER EQUALITY!

I stood briskly the moment he stood right in front of me.

“Where’s my brother?”

I asked, trying to calm my nerves down but the idiot moved back.

He fvcking moved back… And placed a palm over his nose.

“Still with that morning breath. You didn’t even deem it fit to take care of your basic morning hygiene before coming to look for your brother?”

“It’s none of your business!”

I breathed back harshly.NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

“It is. You’re my fiancee… And you looking this haggard is a dent to my image and reputation.”

He frowned.

“I’m not, was not, and will never be your Fiancee. Just get me, my brother.”

“Determined to leave with your brother aye?”

He asked annoyingly.

“Yes! So go get him for me.”

He smiled so sweetly at me, which I found very irritating before turning and clapping twice.

The door pushed open and the guy that held me down before at my house pushed a small bed on tiny wheels out.

On the bed was my brother, sleeping peacefully with a blindfold on his eyes.

I know it sounds weird, but I know my brother is sleeping even though he had a blindfold on because I had studied him severally when sleeping.

When you have a little brother so sick that could die at any moment or slight thing, studying his sleeping habit and pattern was important to differentiate his sleeping from being (God forbid) dead.

The guy stopped just in front of the door and stood beside the bed.

“Marry me, Alexa.”

Anderson said, more like commanded as he brought out a ring from his pocket.

“I’m not marrying you bastard!”

I yelled at him.

He gave me this weird smile and looked back, making me trace his eyes to see his gaze rested on my brother.

I watched shockingly as the guy beside my brother pulled a pocket knife out of his pocket.

Then Anderson turned back to me, a smile resting on his face.

“Since your brother has a bad heart, it’d be more fun to rip it out of him right?”

He said… That evil fire dancing in his eyes.

I get it…

He was going to kill Jace if I didn’t accept his proposal.

He opened the ring box and pulled out the ring from it.

“Marry me, Alexa.”

He proposed again… Standing!

I nodded my reply.

I watched him smile and speak.

“Get on your knees and accept the ring.”

Tears filled my eyes as I nodded.

A pang of pain tugged at my heart as I watched him slip the ring on my finger with that smirk I so wanted to wipe off from his face.

This was not how I dreamed and wanted my life to be!

I dreamt about being proposed to so lovingly, my love on his knees…

… Not a heartless guy forcing me into it, standing with me on my knees.

My life’s so messed up.
