Eve’s POV

After we just had breakfast that morning;

“Mark said my father hasn’t been himself lately, he barely even go to his office too” Liam said.

“Something worst? side effects?.. oops! As a result of the whole issue”

“Yeah. I think it’s just regret and dejection. It’s normal if he’s truly sorry. Mark also said that he has been lamenting even after being told that he can go scort-free” Liam said.

“Ohh” I mouthed. “I hope he’ld get over it soon”

“I’m going there today to check up on him”

“Can… can I come with you?” I asked him.

“Uhm…”

“He’s obviously a changed person now, I’ll go there as a visitor not his ex wife or something else” I told Liam.

“You are not his ex wife” He touched my jaw.

“Okay let’s say.. I’m going there only because I would love to see Helen and Robert..”

“Should I reintroduce you to my father as my girlfriend?”

“Err…”

“Are you ready?”

“Don’t you think it’s still early to tell him?” I said.

“I don’t think so but if you aren’t ready, then it fine and yes you can come with me” He agreed.

Robert jumped into my arms when I alighted from Liam’s car. It’s funny how Liam shot him a very hard gaze.

“What happened to handshakes?” Liam quarried Robert in a harsh tone.

“Oh Liam” I rolled my eyes.

“Is he back to his former self?” Robert mumbled at me.

“No he is not” I replied.

Liam spread out his hands and said..”Hug me instead, not her”

Robert looked at him in a weird way and hesitated, but Liam was the one who pulled Robert to himself to embrace him.

I left them behind and went inside, I bumped into Helen at the door.

“Helen” I don’t know who hugged who first.

We were so excited to see eachother. It been only a week I left the house.

“I miss you Eve” I said when we disengaged from the hug.

“Me too”

“So why are you here? Is Liam here..”

“Yes I am” He came behind me and placed his hand over my shoulder.

“Li.. am” I tried to shrug his hands away but he refused, so I just let it be.

“Okay..” She muttered.

“Is Father in?”

“Yes, he has been indoor; Like in his room, he barely even eat” Helen said as we made our way inside. Mark was just coming into the living room..

“I’m afraid, what if it results into depression or something?”Mark said. “He feels like he has ruin alot of people and the world has come to an end””

“I.. believe he’ld get over it… we still gat his back, we have forgiven him” Liam said.

“Come see him yourself” Mark said and Liam walked to their father’s room.

Leaving Helen and I behind.

“Hey Eve” Helen said..”Come with me, let’s talk” She headed upstairs and expected me to follow her.

“I.. have no room here” I said.

“C’mon my room or should I say my old room to be?” She said.

I followed her anyways,

“What do you mean by your old room?”I asked.

“I’m leaving soon”

“Leaving, like leaving? You are leaving too Helen?” I was surprised.

“Yeah” She nodded. ” And Uhm, we don’t know what. exactly is wrong with Mr Maya, I don’t think he is acting up though.. the whole sexual assault was not his fault too, Mark said he has one disease or should I call it s*xual urges ailment..”

“Yeah Liam told me… It’s being deactivated now. He would have taste in women body now”

“Is that why he is a changed person?… I don’t know but he keeps on lamenting. When I went to his room to serve him his food since he won’t show up.. he practically went on his kneels to apologise to me” Helen said.

“Mr Maya went on his kneels?” I was shocked and surprised.

“He did. It was so awkward and for the first time, I pitied him… I deleted the audios immediately too” She said..

“Oh I feel sad though. Am I? Are we supposed to?” I asked rhetorically.

“Yeah, we are. Molestation is a very great crime with or without any excuse but.. you know the story now Eve, I feel bad for him too”

“Yeah. Now back to why you are leaving this place?” I asked but I still don’t get why she is talking more about Mr Maya.

“Oh! So Mr Maya apologised several times and he is still doing so. Well he wants to further my education and that of Robert. He told me to look up to him as a big father”

“Big father” I muttered.

“Me too” I jublilated..”Liam wants..” I wanted to tell her that Liam wants to sponsor me.

“Yeah Liam gat your back always… Wait, why does it suddenly feel like we are dropped out teenagers..”

“We literally are.. due to some circumstances you know”

“So you are getting your own apartment when you leave this place right?”

“Yeah except if my boyfriend wants me to live with him like yours..”

She giggled; “Oh you are staying together”

She looked at me suspiciously..

“There’s no way lovers would stay together without.. without..”

I understood what she was trying to say now but I acted like don’t know.

“You know what, let’s go back downstairs”

“Have you ..”

“Huh?!”

“Yeah, it’s almost not possible to avoid body contact with someone you love especially when you are staying together”

“Hahaha Helen, what are you talking about..?” I laughed in a weird way even when she wanted to continue speaking, I cut her off;

“And when will you stop teasing about this same issue.. relationship and all that”

“Okay..” she said; “Yeah, let’s go to the living room”

Liam, Mark and even Mr Maya were already in the living room. Mr Maya was looking lean and sick. Depressed?

“I want to leave the country” Mr Maya announced.

“What?”

“I need a break and since there’s no way I can die for some moments and return later or clear my late bad doings. I think it’s better I go somewhere faraway and start a new life afresh” Mr Maya said.

“What? No one chasing you father; we have forgiven you. Even the innocent prey, Eve too” Liam said.

“Thank you Eve” He said to me “But I need to start a life afresh, I’ld come back new. I already told my P. A to book a flight and get my versa”

“I’m travelling. I’m leaving this country for the benefit of everyone” He told us.
