“Now tell me, where are you coming from?” Helen blocked my way from coming in.

“But the driver just brought me here”

“And I also know that you can call him whenever you are ready” She replied; “So tell me why are you just coming?”

“Is Mr Maya around?”I whispered to her.

“He came to the company” I told Helen.

“Is it where you and Liam work at?” She asked..

Liam’s POV

I wondered what I could do to help Eve catch up with her long time, best friend. Mrs Pitt’s daughter whom Mrs Pitt wouldn’t give her number to Eve.

Since I had Mrs Pitt number, I decided to put a call to her.

~ “Hello, am I speaking with the CEO of withney company?” I said into the phone.

~”Yeah..” I recognised Mrs Pitt’s voice.

~”I am Liam; Mr Maya’s son”

~”Oh Liam, it’s nice meeting you today, I forgot to tell you that. I’ve been yearning to meet you again ever since you left for the college” She added.”How is your father?” She asked me

~ “How is your daughter?” I asked her almost at the same time.

~  “You mean Janet?, Do you know Janet?”

~ “Well no, I am only aware that you have a daughter”

~”Oh… Janet is fine and.. and she is single!” I heard her laughing in a weird manner.

~ “It’s… It.. is good to know..” I said; “But I don’t know Janet, can I like…”

~ “Yes you can” She said…”I know you want her number right? I would send it to you immediately, so get acquainted as soon as possible.. and just so you know, Janet love making friends.. with someone like you” She added laughing weirdly.. And I laughed too as if I am interested.

“Okay, Thank you”

“Have a lovely night Liam”

“You too ma’am” I told her then I ended the call..

Shortly, my phone beeped.. It was a Text message from her,… She sent my Janet’s number and I wasted no time, I forwarding the message to Eve.

~ “Hello Eve” I called her shortly after sending her a message.

~”Did you receive the message I just sent to you now?”

“Yeah what’s the digits all about?”

“Janet’s number?”

“Janet’s number?”

“Yeah, how did you get it?”

“I have my ways. Mrs Pitts gave it to me without so much stress..” I said.

I don’t know why I felt so happy that I did something that could make her so glad. I dropped my phone as I headed into the bathroom.

But then, my phone suddenly rang.

Clara! Clara?

I already deleted her number though, so that I won’t feel the urge to call her yet I know those digits by heart.

What does she want from me now?

At first I didn’t want to pick up her call but I reluctantly did when the phone started ringing again.

~ “Hello Clara” I spoke sheepishly.

~ “Liam” She called her name.

I have missed that sweet voice of hers.

~”How are you doing Liam?” She asked me.

~”I am…” I pursed. “I am fine”

~ “Liam I am sorry for the other day, I just..”

~”What do you want from me now?” I cut her off and I heard her sigh.

~ “Can you make it to my wedding day?” She asked me.

~”What on earth? Is that why you called me?”

~”I couldn’t give you the invitation card, the last time we met and we probably may not meetagain. This is the only way I can invite you..” She said.

I didn’t say anything… I doubt if she feels sorry for me at all.

~”Well, the wedding is on the fifth day of next month at Royal’s hall. Will you be there?” She asked

~ “I won’t be there Clara” I retorted brusquely.

~”Ohh” She said.”That’s bad” She added.

~”No I am not” I responded; “Infact, I have moved on too” I lied.. “With someone better than you” I was only telling lies to her but I was already imagining Eve as the person who I have moved on with.. Probably because she was there for me and was ready to listen to me..

And..

~”Liam” She called my name again.

I wasn’t even listening to her.

~”I just said that I cannot make it to your wedding. So Bye” I hung the call angrily.

I probably need to get a new girlfriend, so that I can forget about her forever.

Yet I was afraid to start a fresh relationship; Clara has thought me a big lesson.. never to trust or love too much. Somehow, I knew that the long distance was the barrier but I am ready to settle down with her, be with her 24-hours then the sad shit came up.
