The Event
The party to celebrate the new launch of Alexander’s company’s new product was that day. Everywhere was busy as the event center was being arranged.
The staff were running around, making sure that everything was perfect. The decorations were being put up, the food was being prepared, and the band was tuning their instruments. Everything was coming together perfectly.
Alexander’s secretary was there, overseeing everything and making sure that everything was running smoothly. She worked alongside with the event planner, who was taking her job very seriously. She wanted everything to be perfect for event.Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
Alexander, on the other hand, was a bundle of nerves. He was excited about the launch, but he was also anxious about seeing Marissa again. They haven’t seen each other for days now and he wondered how she was doing.
He hoped she showed up for the launch.
He was in his hotel room changing into his new and expensive suit and he adjusted his bowtie.
It was a new shade of black and gray and had a sleek look to it. He wanted to make a good impression. He looked at himself in the mirror and straightened his tie again.
A knock on the door startled him. He went over and opened it, revealing his secretary.
“Hello, Mr. Alex,” she said, smiling at him. “You look very dashing.”
“Thank you, Sarah,” he said, returning her smile. “Is everything ready for the event?”
“Everything is going according to plan,” she said. “The guests are starting to arrive and the venue is looking spectacular. I think this is going to be a very successful launch.”
“I hope so,” Alex said, his nerves starting to get the better of him. “I just hope that everything goes smoothly.”
“I’m sure it will,” Sarah said, trying to reassure him. “You’ve put a lot of time and effort into this, and I know it’s going to pay off. Just try to relax and enjoy the night.”
“You’re right,” Alex said, taking a deep breath. “I just need to take it one step at a time.”
“That ‘s the spirit!” Sarah said. “Now, let’s get you out there and make a great first impression.”
With that, she led him out of the hotel room and into the venue. The sight that greeted him was truly spectacular. The room was filled with people, and the tables were decorated with beautiful flowers and candles. Everything looked perfect.
Sarah led him to the front of the room, where a podium was set up for him to make his speech. He took a deep breath and stepped up to the microphone. The room fell silent as everyone looked at him, waiting for him to speak.
“Good evening, everyone,” Alex said, his voice sounding a bit shaky at first, but growing stronger as he continued. “Welcome to the launch of our new product. I am honored to have each and every one of you here tonight. I know that some of you have traveled from far and wide to be here, and I am so grateful for your support.”
He went on to talk about the history of the company, and how they had come to develop this new product. He spoke about the hard work and dedication of the team that had made it all possible. The room was completely silent, hanging on to his every word.
He finished his speech with a heartfelt thank you to everyone who had made this possible. The room erupted in applause, and Alex felt a sense of relief wash over him. He had done it. He had given a successful speech.
But as he stepped down from the podium, he felt a wave of exhaustion wash over him. The past few months had been a whirlwind of activity, and he was suddenly hit with how much he had been pushing himself.
Sarah came over to him and put a hand on his shoulder. “You did a great job,” she said. “Now let’s go and enjoy the rest of the evening.”
Alex nodded, grateful for her support. He allowed her to lead him to a table, where he sat down and took a moment to collect himself. The evening went on, and he found himself slowly relaxing. He enjoyed chatting with the people around him and sampling the delicious food.
Just then Jessie walked up to him and tapped him from behind.
Alex turned around and saw Jessie standing there, looking nervous. “Hi,” she said, her voice a bit shaky. “I hope it’s okay that I’m here. I just wanted to talk to you.”
“Of course it’s okay,” Alex said, a bit surprised but happy to see her. “I’m glad you’re here. How are you?”
“I’m okay,” she said, but her body language said otherwise. She looked tired and a bit stressed. “I just… I wanted to talk to you about everything that’s been going on.”
“Sure,” Alex said, gesturing for a seat so they could talk, but before they could talk, Jaime walked up to them and greeted them.
“Hey, Alexander.”
Alexander looked up and realized that it was Jaime. He wasn’t happy to see him and since he was one of the invitees, he couldn’t ignore him.
“I thought you won’t come since it’s my launch and not yours.”
Jaime scoffed.
“Why would I miss this when it’s gonna be the best event for the year?
Nah… and besides, someone is gonna reveal a very important announcement today, right?” he said, looking at Alexander as he had threatened Alexander to hand over the contract to him or he would reveal the fake marriage he had to get the contract.
Alexander was pissed but had to comport himself so he wouldn’t lose his cool since it was his event.
Jaime went closer to him and leaned in.
“So be a good boy and do the right thing and give me what rightfully belongs to me okay?”
“You’re a jerk, Jaime. No one wants you here.” Jessie said.
He looked at Jessie and smiled.
“Well it depends. You see, Alexander and I have an agreement and I believe he would fulfill his own end of the bargain or else he knows what I’m capable of.” he smiled and walked away from them.
Jessie looked confused and then turned to face Alexander.
“What’s he talking about?”
Alexander was trying to think what to do when he suddenly saw Marissa walking into the hall looking rather gorgeously dressed.
