Jessie Sudden Trip
Anderson left the office as Alexander had other important meetings to attend to.
During the meeting, he couldn’t concentrate as he thought about what Jessie would do when she finds out that he had to do a fake marriage to secure a very important contract.
He was worried about her reaction and how it would affect their relationship. Would she be upset? Would she be angry? Would she feel betrayed?
There were so many unanswered questions, and he didn’t know how to handle the situation. All he knew was that he had to be honest with her, no matter how difficult it might be.
After the meeting, he went to his office and sat down at his desk. He took a few deep breaths to try to calm himself down before picking up the phone and dialing Jessie’s number.
As the phone rang, his heart was pounding in his chest. He wondered what he would say when she answered. After a few seconds, the phone was picked up on the other end.
“Hello, Alex. What’s up?” Jessie’s voice was calm and friendly, which only served to make Alex even more nervous.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Hey, Jessie. I need to talk to you about something important. Are you free to meet up later today?” Alex asked, trying to sound as composed as possible.
“Of course. I’m free any time. What’s this about? Are you okay?” Jessie asked, her voice now concerned.
“I’m okay, but I need to talk to you about something that’s been weighing on me. I hope you don’t mind if I meet you at your place. Is that okay?” Alex asked, hoping she would say yes.
“Of course, Alex. My door is always open to you. What time do you want to come over?” Jessie asked, her voice still tinged with worry.
“How about 6pm? Would that work for you?” Alex asked, hoping it would be a good time for her.
“That’s perfect. I’ll be looking forward to seeing you then. Should I make dinner or would you rather go out to eat?” Jessie asked, her voice now light and hopeful.
Alex thought for a moment. Going out to eat would be easier, but he didn’t want to make things too casual. This conversation was going to be difficult enough as it was, and he wanted to make sure they were in a comfortable, private place.
“Would it be okay if we ate at your place? I think it would be better to talk in a more private setting.” Alex said
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line. When Jessie spoke again, her voice was a bit hesitant.
“Of course. I understand. I’ll have dinner ready when you get here. Is there anything in particular you’d like to eat?” Jessie asked.
“I’ll eat anything you make. I’m not picky.” Alex said, trying to sound upbeat.
“Great. I’ll make something special then. I’ll see you at 6pm. And, Alex… thank you for wanting to be honest with me. I really appreciate that.
Alex felt a wave of relief wash over him. It was good to know that Jessie appreciated his honesty, even if the conversation ahead was going to be difficult.
“Thank you, Jessie. I’m glad we’re close enough that we can talk about these things. I’ll see you at 6.” Alex said, feeling a little less nervous now.
“See you then. Drive safe!” Jessie said, her voice full of warmth.
As Alex hung up the phone, he felt a little bit better. He knew the conversation ahead would be difficult, but he also knew that it was necessary. He knew that he had to be honest with Jessie, no matter how hard it might be.
When 6pm rolled around, Alex decided to call Jessie to inform her that he was about to leave his office to get to her place.
The phone rings and Jessie picks up.
“Hey, Babe. I’m about heading out of the office now just trying to wear my coat. Are you home?”
There was silence in as Jessie didn’t say anything.
“Hello, Babe, are you there?” He asked, putting on his coat.
“Babe, I’m sorry, but can we reschedule?” she asked as she sighed on the phone.
“Why what’s wrong?” he asked as he sat down on his chair.
“Um…. nothing really, just that my boss called me that he wants me to meet up with a client in China tomorrow morning and so I have to take the next flight there tonight. So I’m actually on my way to the airport.” she informed him.
“But you just came back from Singapore recently and now you’re going for another trip.” he said, his voice unhappy.
“I know, I know. I’m really sorry about this. I know we’ve been looking forward to spending time together but it’s really important that I go on this trip. Please understand.” she said, her voice pleading.
“Are you sure you have to go tonight? Why can’t you go tomorrow instead?” he asked, trying to find a solution.
“I wish I could, but this is something that my boss wants me to do. I wish I had a choice but this is work.” she said, her voice apologetic.
“I know, I know. But it’s just that I was looking forward to spending time with you. I know we’ve both been busy with work and haven’t had the time to just sit down and talk.” he said, his voice sad.
“I know, I know and I’m sorry. But you know that this is important. I promise you that I’ll make it up to you when I get back. I promise.” she said, her voice soft.
He was silent for a few moments before he spoke again.
“I understand. It’s just that I miss you. I know we’ve been talking on the phone but it’s just not the same. I want to spend time with you in person.” he said, his voice a little wistful.
“I know, I know. I miss you too.”
