Finding Out The Truth
“So you’re married to Alexander and you pretended to be his high school friend huh?” Jessie said, her voice filled with anger.
Marissa swallowed her spittle as she didn’t know how to respond or what to say to her.
“I don’t think it’s my place to discuss this…. probably when Alexander comes, you guys should talk.”
Jessie brow furrowed.
“I knew something was off about you from the very first day I saw you, but I just decided to wave it aside and trust my boyfriend that he wouldn’t do something like that to hurt me. But I guess I was wrong. Men would always cheat no matter what you do to keep the relationship.”
Marissa wanted to speak when the door opened and Alexander entered the house and was surprised to find Jessie in the house.
“Jessie! What are you doing here? I… thought you were on your way to China…” he stammered.
“Well, as you can see, I’m still here. I didn’t go anywhere,” she said, her voice cold and angry.
He removed his coat and dropped his bag. Marissa got up and walked up to him and whispered to his ear informing him that Jessie had found out about their relationship.
Alexander looked surprised. He never expected that the truth was gonna come out like this.
He walked up to her and sat close to her while Marissa excused herself so they could talk alone.
There was silence in the room as Alexander didn’t know how to start or what to say, but before he could speak, Jessie spoke first.
“I found out that you had gotten married and you didn’t tell me about it huh! You’re a cheating bastard.” she yelled, her voice filled with anger.
“It’s not what you think Jessie…. there was a reason for it, but it’s not a real marriage.” he explained.
Jessie looked at him like he was speaking a different language.
“What do you mean it’s not a real marriage? How is that possible? You got married, didn’t you? What do you mean it’s not a real marriage?”
Alexander took a deep breath before explaining to her that it was a business deal that she got caught up in and it was just for business.
Jessie stared at him. She looked like she was still trying to wrap her head around the fact that the man she loved had gone and gotten married to someone else.
“So you’re telling me that this marriage you got into was just for the sake of business? You’re telling me that there’s no romantic relationship between you and this woman you got married to?” she asked, her voice incredulous.
“Yes, that’s what I’m telling you. I never lied about my feelings for you, Jessie. You know that I love you. I would never cheat on you.” he said, reaching out to hold her hand.
Jessie pulled her hand away from his. She still didn’t understand what he was telling her.
“Why would you do something like this? Why would you get married to someone else for the sake of business? Why couldn’t you have just told me about it, Alexander? Do you know how much this hurts me?” she asked, her voice breaking.
“I’m sorry, Jessie. I really am. I should have told you about it, but I didn’t have a choice, babe. I proposed to you that we should get married, but you said you were not ready to get married because of your job and that you were working on a promotion. So I had to think of something and this was the only option, babe.”
“So that’s your excuse huh.” she said, her voice angry.
“I know it’s not a good excuse. I know I messed up and I’m really sorry. I never meant to hurt you,” he said, trying to look her in the eye.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
“But you did hurt me,” she said, her eyes filling with tears.
“I know, I’m so sorry. Can you find it in your heart to forgive me? I promise to never lie to you or keep anything from you again.” he said, his voice sincere.
Jessie looked at him, trying to decide what to do. She loved him, there was no doubt about that. She could forgive him, but she didn’t know if she could forget what he had done.
“I don’t know if I can forgive you right now. I’m really hurt by all of this. I need some time to think about things.” she said, her voice soft.
“I understand. I’ll give you the time you need. I just want you to know that I’m really sorry and that I love you more than anything. I’ll do anything to make things right.” he said, reaching out to hold her hand.
Jessie looked at him, the pain in her eyes evident. She knew that he was being sincere, but she wasn’t sure if she could forgive him right away.
“I just need some time to think,” she said, her voice breaking.
Alexander nodded and got up from the couch. He walked over to her and gave her a hug. He held her tight and whispered “I love you” in her ear.
Jessie felt the tears start to fall as he held her close. She wasn’t sure what to do or what to say. She was still processing everything that had happened.
After a few moments, she pulled away from him and looked him in the eye. “I’m not saying that we’re over. I just need some time to think about things. I promise I’ll talk to you soon.”
“I understand, and I’ll respect your decision. I’ll be here whenever you’re ready to talk.” he said, giving her a small smile.
Jessie walked towards the door. She turned and faced him and spoke.
“I want her out of the house before tomorrow afternoon, Alexander and I also want you to end the marriage agreement you had with her by tomorrow. Then I will consider not breaking up with you.” she said, and walked out the door closing the door behind her.
