Married At First Glance: I Am Not Ugly

Confused

“But I’m shocked at your sudden change of attitude, Alexander,” Anderson said as his secretary walked in with a tray of tea and biscuits.

“Thank you,” Alex said to his secretary who smiled and left the office.

Anderson opened his mouth wide, surprised at Alexander’s sudden change in behavior.

“I don’t know what happened to you that changed you, but I like the new you, Alex,” Anderson said as he took a cup and sipped.

“Hmmm.. Nice coffee.”

“This is always the way I am dude,” Alex said.

“Nope, this isn’t the way you were dude. You have changed and honestly, it’s a really good thing.”Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.

Alexander smiled at Anderson’s compliment. “So I have decided that I’m going to talk to Jessie about Marissa and our fake marriage to secure the contract and end everything with Marissa.”

Anderson nodded pleased.

“Yeah… I think that would be better. She needs to know the truth and not be kept in the dark any longer. Because if she found out the truth elsewhere, she might blow chunks man, and you and I both know it wouldn’t be good.” Anderson said, resting on the chair.

Alex sighed deeply and then placed his hand on his lips thinking.

“But I will tell her after the dinner party we have next week.”

Anderson’s brow furrowed as he looked at Alex.

“You’re not going to tell her before then. What if she finds out before then man? What are you gonna do?”

Alex sighed.

“I’ll make sure she doesn’t find out.”

“Hmmm… This is a bad idea, Alex.” Anderson shook his head not in support of his friend’s decision.

“I understand that this is a difficult situation, but Keeping something like this a secret isn’t the best idea, and could end up causing even more problems down the line. Maybe you should reconsider your approach.”

Alex sat there in silence for a moment and then spoke up.

“I know I probably should, but I’m scared of what will happen if she finds out. What if she gets angry and decides to end the relationship? I don’t want to risk losing her.” Alex said, clearly conflicted.

“You don’t want to lose Jessie or Marissa?”

“Both of them, man,” Alex said in confusion.

“You’re one confused man right now, Alex and you need to find out who you want between them and make a decision that wouldn’t affect them as well,” Anderson advised.

Alex leaned on his chair and placed his hand on his hair.

“I love Jessie and I like Marissa.”

Anderson dropped his cup and shook his head in disapproval.

“No dude, you need to choose one and you need to do that fast.”

“How am I gonna do that man? I’m confused here.” Alex said

“Well, let’s see if we can break this down. What is it that you love about Jessie? Is it the relationship, or is it something deeper than that? And when it comes to Marissa, what makes you feel like you like her? These are important questions to consider.” Anderson said calmly.

Alex took a few moments to think.

“I love Jessie because she has always been there for me through thick and thin. She’s always had my back, and I know I can always count on her. But with Marissa, it’s like she’s always been someone I can talk to about anything, without any judgment. We’ve always been able to be honest and open with each other, and I really value that. And on top of that, she’s always been a lot of fun to be around, and I feel like I can truly be myself around her. So I guess I just feel a connection to both of them in different ways.” Alex explained.

“That’s really insightful, Alex. So it sounds like you’re saying that your relationship with Jessie is based on trust and support, whereas your relationship with Marissa is more about having fun and feeling comfortable being yourself. So the question now becomes, which of those things is more important to you? Do you want a relationship based on trust and support, or do you want a relationship where you feel comfortable being yourself and having fun?” Anderson asked.

Alex thought about this, and then finally spoke up.

“I guess I would have to say that trust and support are really important to me. I want someone who I can rely on through anything. But at the same time, I also want to be able to enjoy spending time with that person and not feel like I have to be a certain way to impress them.”

“So, it sounds like you’re looking for someone who has the qualities of both Jessie and Marissa, is that right?” Anderson asked, making sure he was understanding Alex correctly.

“Yeah, that’s pretty much it. I want someone who I can trust and rely on, but also someone who I can feel comfortable being myself around. Is that even possible?” Alex asked, feeling a little discouraged.

“Alex, it’s possible but, you need to realize that there aren’t perfect ladies out there as there aren’t perfect guys out there, but what makes people decide to be together is that they have just a few things in common and they love each other enough to want to be with each other.”

“Wow, Anderson. I didn’t know you had this much knowledge up your sleeves.” Alex teased.

“Ha ha ha! I’m flattered by your surprise, but it’s all part of the job description as a lawyer.

I’m here to help you navigate life, and that includes answering tough questions like these. So, what do you think you’re going to do now? Are you going to talk to Jessie about your concerns, or keep trying to figure out how you feel on your own?” Anderson responded with a joke and then a serious question.

“I think I’m going to talk to Jessie. I need to be honest with her about how I’m feeling, and hopefully we can figure out a way to move forward that works for both of us.
