Madam Billionaire

Chapter Twelve

“Dr. Michaels! Oh God about time! come, Matteo is in the other room, I’ll go get Leo.”

Amber greeted the doctor as he walked into their residence. Amara was still in shock as she kept shedding her tears, remembering about Rick and now praying to God that Peter would be okay.

“Amara, I will be just fine.”

“You have to! I can’t lose you too!” She kissed the top of his head and held on tight to his hand.

The doctor was examining Matteo, then told Paolo to come to get Leo.

“Tell him I need his blood, Matteo is losing too much, Miss, could you please help me put pressure on his wound while I take a look at your friend?” The doctor asked as she was still holding on to Peter.

“It’s Amara, please doctor do everything you can for Peter.”

“Okay Amara, please come and put your hand here. I’ll check on Peter for you.”

“Oh fuck! cold! your hands are very cold.” Matteo hissed with a low painful voice.

He made her laugh sarcastically, while she was still teary at the same time. She thought that she might’ve gone crazy.

“You’re bleeding out yet you complained about my cold hands?”

He was annoying her when all she did was try to help him, while she could be by Peter’s side.

“…. do you want to put pressure on your shoulder, wait… you can’t reach it can’t you?”

He looked at her squinting his eyes like she was the devil herself.

“Just go get Leo, Doc I think I’m…” Matteo slowly closes his eyes and suddenly stopped talking.

“Oh damn… Doctor! did I just kill him?” Amara panicked and was once again in tears. She was looking at the doctor across the room who was busy tending to Peter, while she might just kill Leo’s underboss.

Fuck… fuck… fuck!

“Please don’t die, please don’t die…”

She was cursing at herself then crying and panicking until the doctor took a break from Peter and looked at Matteo.

“He’ll be fine just keep pressuring on his wound. He’s losing blood, and with the alcohol, he ingested to numb the pain he’s in la-la land. We’ll wait for Leo for the transfusion unless your type O negative.”This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

The doctor was back to Peter, the wound was clean and he was stitching him up. Peter was drowsy but still alert, he looked up at his boss and gave her a big under anesthesia smile.

“I am O neg, can I revive him?” she asked the old doctor worriedly, while her hand was still on his shoulder keeping pressure on the wound.

He chuckled and told her to sit down.

“Sit, I have to test you.”

She nodded and sit beside the wounded underboss. It took a couple of minutes, but she was clear to donate her blood to him.

“You got to calm yourself down, take a deep breath… then exhale, one more time… relax yourself. Excellent.”

She didn’t even notice when the doctor pinches her with the largest needles ever. Oh, did I forget to tell you that our madam was afraid of needles? Well, apparently she didn’t realize that she has to be pricked by a giant needle to get her blood out.

“Don’t look at the needle, you can look at Matteo or the painting?”

Okay now the doctor is mocking her, I like him. Though she did keep looking at the needle stuck on her arm making her a bit queasy.

That was until Amber and Leo came into the room.

“Amara honey, what are you doing? Doctor! she’s under a lot of stress. Leo will do the transfusion just like he has done before.”

“I’m sorry Dona, I didn’t know. Forgive me, Don, I thought you’re unavailable.”

“Amara? shit Doc, she doesn’t look so good.”

“She’s afraid of needles. We’re almost done, why don’t you keep on talking to her Dona.”

“I’m sorry I thought I killed him too.”

Her face was saddened instantly while she looked at Amber who was sitting in front of her.

“Oh Amara honey you never killed anyone, Matteo is a strong one. He’s a survivor but he’s so clumsy I might say he had all Leo’s blood in his system by now.”

Her words made Amara smile at her, and she kept on talking deliberately taking her sight from the transfusion up until Dr. Michaels pulled out the needle and put a bandaid on her arm.

“There, now Matteo owes you his life.” Dr. Michaels said as he was finishing off on putting the bandaid on Matteo’s arm.

His shoulder was all done, he was still shirtless and covered with a large gauze on his shoulder.

“Thank you Doc, Paolo will see you out,” Leo said as he was back with Paolo.

“Cara, the twins are waiting for you to tuck them in. I already check on the boys, they’re asleep already.” The Italian mob boss said as he rubbed his wife’s shoulder gently.

“Amara I’ll see you in a bit, I’ll get Martina to set your room.” Amber hugged her and leave her with Leo and the two wounded men.

“Thank you for saving me, and Peter…” she started talking to Leo.

“You’re welcome, but Amara, Antonio would’ve wanted me to… shit, I’m sorry for bringing him up, Amber is right. You should rest…”

“Tomorrow, my dad’s funeral. Oh, Rick! I forgot all about him! I need to call Albert and let him handle everything…”

“Paolo had taken care of your Penthouse situation, and I have to call Albert…”

“Boss…” Peter quickly interrupted her words when he tries to get out of the bed.

“Peter!” she hurriedly came up to him and hugged him carefully not touching his gunshot wound.

“Hey, I’m okay Amara. The doctor said it might leave a mark but it’ll make me look like a badass.”

She laughs softly but backed away from him, her hands were still holding his. Amara could hear Leo was talking to his wounded man.

It was not until two hours later that she was finally alone in the guest bedroom with Peter across the hall sleeping from the pain medication already.

Our madam, on the other hand, had been tossing and turning for the longest time, until she finally gave up and open the window letting the cool night air in. Then within seconds, she was back to shedding her tears again.

The quiet house was making her suffocate in the silence. She should be sleeping, instead, she missed her dad, she missed his smile, his voice, then she was reminded of Antonio. She still couldn’t believe that they were both gone already. Days ago she had just turned twenty-four, but she was hoping that day never comes.

No more birthdays.

Not when that day reminded me that I’ve lost the two men that I love dearly.

Her thoughts were making her heartbroken and shed more tears. She was sobbing and hugging herself until she fell asleep on the floor under the open window.

That night Matteo came into her room. He was inspecting all the perimeters within the house. He knocked before entering, he was checking the alarm system and discovered that her window was unlocked. He was surprised to find her sleeping on the floor near the window. She seemed to have cried herself to sleep, he thought to himself.

He knows that she was Antonio’s girlfriend, he had known the facts from Leo about her.  He had never fallen in love or even have a girlfriend before. The concept was foreign for him, he wouldn’t know how to handle a fragile and sad woman like her. But he knows that she could catch a cold in the morning if she stays on the floor all night.

So, he picked her up carefully not wanting to wake her then put her back to sleep on the bed. He was tucking her in when he saw that she shed another tear. He sighed and wiped it away then carefully pulled the lush comforter over her body.

“Sleep… you will be better in the morning.” He whispered then quietly backed away from her.
